Abstract

Several farmers in the Village of Air Hitam Sub District of Lima Puluh District of Batubara wereused the impact of Rice-Watermelon cropping system because production of rice was descended inevery years and to increasing the use irrigate efficiency. The difference in cropping system and thelong inundation result differences paddy soil properties. This research analyzed the soil pH, Al-dd,Al saturation, Fe3+, and Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) of land in the village of Air HitamSub District of Lima Puluh District of Batubara with altitude of 14 meters above sea level. Theresearch start to do on May until November 2012. The results of analyzed was procced by t-analyze.The showed that soil pH, Fe3+, CEC on Rice-Rice cropping system is lower than the Rice-Watermelon, while Al was higher in Rice- Rice cropping system than Rice- Watermelon.Keywords: Al, Fe, paddy soil, cropping system

Abstract

The Objective of this study is determine the effect of rice straw compost and rice ash on somechemical properties of Ultisol and its effect on the growth of corn plants. The research was done ingauze house and Research and Technology Laboratory, Agricultural Faculty, University of NorthSumatera, Medan from May until July 2013. The study used randomized block design consits of twofactors with three replications. The first factor are rice sraw compost consist of four dosage level(g/5 kg dry oven soil weight) : K0 (0), K1 (25), K2 (50), K3 (75) and the second factore are rice ashconsist of four dosage level (g/5 kg dry oven soil weight) : M0 (0), M1 (10), M2 (20), M3 (30).Theresults showed that the effect of aplication of rice straw compost significantly increased soil Corganic,P-available, plant height, dry weight of a plant, plant N uptake, and plant P uptake but notsignificantly effect the soil pH and N-total of soil, aplication of rice ash significantly increased soilC-organic and plant N uptake but not significantly increased the soil pH, P-available, N-total of soil,plant hight, dry weight plant and plant P uptake.Keyword: ultisol, rice straw compost, rice ash

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out the land suitability classes in Petuaran Hilir villagePegajahan sub district Serdang Bedagai Regency for cassava. Obtained by 2 SPT (set of land) whatis determined by pursuant to map of land and ground type, map of inclination of slope fromtopography map with the scale 1 : 5000, is later conducted by overlay. Assessment of landsuitability pursuant to staff criterion center the research of land of bogor (1993) using landevaluation method with comparing (matching). The result of analysis showed the unity of allthe sample has appropriate class of land actual at set of land (SPT) 1 is S3(nr) and class of landpotential is S2 (rc). Class of land The actual and suitability classes Soil Map Unit (SPT)2 is S2(wa,rc, nr, er) and potential and suitability classS2(rc).Keywords:suitability of land, Cassava,Petuaran hilir village

Abstract

Sembahe is believed to have a great potential particularly in agricultural sector. In order to discover this potent it is necessary to classify the soilfirst by using USDA Soil Taxonomy 2014th edition which has not been done before. This research conducted in between December 2013 and February 2014. The soil profiles was made from two representative location. The first is located at 03020’40” S 98035’30” E, with altitude 231 meter above mean sea level. Meanwhile the second is located at 03020’42” S 98035’05” E withaltitude 294 meter above mean sea level. Morphological properties identified by describing the soil profiles using manual book while physical and chemical properties identified at laboratory. Soil samples was taken from each horizon at every profiles and analyzed for particle size distribution, bulk density, organic carbon, exchangeable cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, and Na+), pH in a 1:2 soil:water ratio, pH in KCl solution, phosphate retention, and also kation exchange capacity (CEC).The results show that the soil in Sembahe Village at profile I classified as Inceptisols Order, Udepts Sub Order,Humudepts Great Group, and Cumulic Humudepts Sub Group, andat profile II classified as Inceptisols Order, Udepts Sub Order, Dystrudepts Great Group, and Typic Dystrudepts Sub Group.Keywords : Soil Classification, Soil Taxonomy 2014, Inceptisols

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aimed to determine the relation of nutrients K and soil organic carbon to the intensity of basal stem rot (Ganoderma sp.) on PT. PD. PATI Aceh Tamiang. This research was conducted at  the Laboratory Socfin Indonesia North Sumatera and Soil Biology  Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatera, Medan in May 2015 through September 2015. Soil sampling was done by using Purposive Sampling, analysis of K nutrient used K2O extract HCl 25%, analysis of soil organic carbon used Walkey and Black method and interpreted into nutrient status map. The data were processed using correlation and regression. The results showed that the intensity of basal stem rot (Ganoderma sp.) was positively correlated with K.  Potassium enable explain its effect on the basal stem rot (Ganoderma sp.) by 16.8%. PD. PATI Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium Socfin Indonesia Sumatera Utara dan Laboratorium Biologi Tanah Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan pada Mei 2015 hingga September  2015. Pengambilan contoh tanah dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Purposive Sampling, analisis hara K mengunakan K2O ekstrak HCl 25% dan analisis kandungsn C-organik menggunakan metode Walkey and Black serta menginterpretasikannya dalam bentuk peta. Data diolah dengan menggunakan uji korelasi dan regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intensitas penyakit busuk pangkal batang (Ganoderma sp.) berkolerasi positif dengan K. Kadar K tanah berkemampuan menjelaskan pengaruhnya terhadap intensitas penyakit busuk pangkal batang (Ganoderma sp.) sebesar 16.8%. Abstract

Solid waste of cigarette paper factory does not contain hazard and toxic materials but contain CaCO3as a lime material. The research of was conducted to study effect of application of solid waste fromthe cigarette paper factory to improve soil properties at Ultisol Tambunan A. This research wasconducted at the Laboratory of Soil Physics, Agriculture Faculty and analytic laboratory of socfindocompany from May until June 2016. The research used non factorial completely randomized designconsist (CRD) of four (4) treatment solid waste (cigarette paper factory) and five (5) replications,there are: L0 (control), L1 (0,4 g), L2 (0,6 g), and L3 (0.8 g). The results showed that the applicationof solid waste from cigarette paper significantly increase soil pH, P-available, Ca-exchangeble butnot significantly increase K-exchangeable and organic carbon of Ultisol. Application of solid wastefrom cigarette paper significantly decrease Al-exchangeable and no significantly decrease Alsaturatedof Ultisol.Keyword : Solid waste of cigarette paper, Ultisol
