Abstract

This study aims to determine the growth and production responses of two lowland maize varieties to organic fertilizer. This study was held in the screen house, faculty of agriculture, University of North Sumatera, from January 2014 until May 2014. This research using randomized block design with 2 factors, factor 1: maize varieties (V): V1 (Pioner 12), V2 (Bisma), and factor 2 with 4 levels, namely P0: no manure (control), P1: 10 g of cow manure / plant, P2: 23 ml of liquid manure (cow urina) / plant, P3: 10 g of cow manure fertilizer +23 ml liquid manure / plant. The result from of this research was not significantly on parameters plant height the number, of leaves and the age of flowering. Interaction of organic fertilizer gave significantly effect to varieties treatment. The high heritability value was showed by parameters the number of leaves, the age of male flowering and the age of female flowering. Keywords: organic fertilizer, corn, varieties

Abstract

The row spacing system on varieties of rice (Oryza sativa L.) in rain fed field, guided by Lisa Mawarni and Rosmayati. This research is to know the differences effect of row spacing system to growth and production of rice plant in rain water paddy field. This research had done at Desa Sendang Rejo, Kecamatan Binjai, North Sumatera with the 50 meters of sea level, from April until August 2015. This research used split-plot design with two factors and three replicates. The first factor was row spacing system (square, row spacing 2:1, row spacing 4:1).  The second factor was varieties (Ciherang, Mekongga, and IR 64). The result  show that the planting system effect was  not significant to  all parameters  but the  varieties significantly  influence the high plant, tiller numbers, leaf  length , weight of panicle per sample, weight of 1000 grain, weight of grain per panicle and production per plot. The  interaction significantly influence for plant height  2,3 and 6 weeks after planting (wap), numbers of tillers 2,5 and 6 wap, and weight of grain per panicle. The highest production variety was Ciherang 3,84 kilograms per areas (4,5 m²) and the lowest production was IR 64 variety 2,92 kilograms per areas.

Abstract

Abstract

The ojective of the research was to determine the effect of plant growth regulators on the activity of enzyme superoxide dismutase and the physiology of partially Tapping Panel Drynessin (TPD) the clones quick starter (PB260) and a slow starter (RRIM 921) of rubber plant. This research was conducted at the Research Estate and Laboratory of Physiological Research Center, Rubber Research Centre, Sungei Putih, Galang, Deli Serdang - North Sumatra, from March until June 2016. The completely randomized design was used with three factors: the first factor was the clones of rubber plants (PB260 and RRIM 921), the second factor was the plant condition (Healthy and TPD or conditions), and the third factor was the formula. The Parameters observed were superoxide dismutase (SOD), Thiol, Sucrose, and Inorganic Phosphate. The result showed that the clone of rubber plants was significantly affected the thiol’s, sucrose’s and inorganic phospate in rubber. condition plant and  the formula significantly affected the sucrose’s. Interaction between clone and formula significantly affected the sucrose’s. The Interaction between clone, plant variety, and formula significantly affected the sucrose’s and the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD).

Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine the performance of root morphophysiological of some crossing maize (F1) in acid soil using the rhizotron. The research was conducted at the green house of Faculty of Agriculture, North Sumatera University, Medan from April 2016 to June 2016. The randomized block design was used with two factors; the first factor were the crossing maizes (F1) P1 (CLA 106 x NEI 9008), P2 (NEI 9008 x CLA 106), P3 (1042-71 x CLA 84),                     P4 (CLA 84 x 1042-71), and P5 (CLA 46 x NEI 9008) and the second factor were the acid soil medium (pH 4,7 and Al-cc 0,20 me/100g) and optimum soil. The result of this research showed that the using of different soil medium significantly affected the root fresh weight, root distribution diameter, root volume, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight, and plant height. The using of different crossing maize (F1) showed significant effect to plant height. Interaction of both treatments had significant effect to root distribution diameter. NEI 9008 x CLA 106 performed the best growth in the acid soil whereas the CLA 84 x 1042-71 performed the best growth in the optimum soil. Keywords : acid soil, morpho-physiological appearance, rhizotron.
