Abstract

This research aims to production of chitinase from thermophylic bacteria that living in Bora hot spring  and to determine of chitinase extracts activity. The research was began with rejuvenated of B1211 bacteria isolates on MSM agar media.  The B1211 isolates was used to production of chitinase extracts on MSM broth media with chitin colloidal concentration of 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 4% and incubation temperature of 30oC (rt), 37oC, 50oC, and 60oC for 3 days. The chitinase activity were analyzed based on N-acetyl-D-glucosamine standard. The results was showed that B1211 bacteria isolates is potential isolate for production chitinase. The highest activity of chitinase from B1211 bacteria isolates of 0.75 U/mL for chitin colloidals concentration of 1% and temperature of 60oC.Keywords : Bora, hot spring, bacteria, thermophylic, B1211 isolates, chitinase.

Abstract

Abortion is a controversial issue that involves debates across various sectors, including legal, religious, ethical, and health aspects. Defined as the termination of pregnancy before the fetus can survive outside the womb, abortion in Indonesia is regulated by Health Law No. 36 of 2009, Article 75, which allows the procedure only in cases of medical emergencies and pregnancies resulting from rape. Despite these regulations, illegal abortions still occur frequently, driven by unwanted pregnancies, economic issues, and social stigma. This paper will discuss various aspects, including the causes of abortion, health impacts, types of abortion in special cases, and the Christian ethical perspective. The research method employed is literature review. The findings indicate that abortion can occur due to various factors such as fear, health issues, socio-economic conditions, and misunderstandings about its consequences. Illegal abortions pose serious risks to women's physical and mental health, including infections, bleeding, emotional trauma, and even death. Medically, abortion may be performed to protect the mother’s life in high-risk pregnancies, such as in cases of uterine cancer or rape. However, from the Christian ethical perspective, abortion is viewed as contrary to God's will, as the fetus is considered a living being that must be protected from conception.

Abstract

This study examines the theological thought of Christian education by Robert Raikes as the pioneer of Sunday School within its historical context and its contribution to the development of Christian education. The purpose of this research is to reveal the theological background and motivations behind Raikes' initiation of church-based education and its impact on society and the church today. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach, analyzing historical and theological sources. The findings show that Raikes had a deep concern for the social and moral condition of poor children in 18th century England, which led him to establish Sunday Schools as a means of religious and character education. Raikes' educational thoughts and practices became a crucial foundation for the development of modern Christian education. The implication of this research is the need for today’s churches and Christian educational institutions to emulate Raikes' spirit of service and social concern in delivering transformative education.

Abstract

The 2025 Regular Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program is being carried out in Bukit Rawi village, Kahayan Tengah subdistrict, Pulang Pisau Regency. The main focus is on using biopori holes and making organic compost to improve soil fertility. The methods used include educating the community, providing training, and offering direct support. The results show that residents have gained more knowledge and skills in turning organic waste into compost. Seven active biopori holes have been created on household and demonstration lands. The community participation was very high, especially from farmers' groups and housewives. This activity is hoped to be continued independently by the community and to serve as a model for other villages in Kahayan Tengah subdistrict.
