Abstract

Rancangan penelitian yaitu the pre and post test-only control design.

Abstract

Background: Denture cleaning materials on the market are available in several forms, one of which is effervescent tablets. Brown algae effervescent granules (Sargassum sp) have been demonstrated in several studies as denture cleansers but it has not been proven whether these materials affect the surface roughness of acrylic resins. Purpose: Analyzing the effect of effervescent Sargassum sp and alkaline peroxide as a soaking agent on the surface roughness of acrylic resin plates. Methods: This research is a laboratory experimental study with 27 samples of acrylic resin plates divided into three groups. Group A was immersed in effervescent granules. Group B was immersed in alkaline peroxide (sodium perborate) and group C was immersed in distilled water. Immersion was carried out for 15 minutes per day and lasted for 4 consecutive days and every day each solution was replaced with a new one. Measurement of surface roughness of samples after immersion using a surface roughness tester hardness measurement using CLSM (Confocal Laser Scan Microscopy). Result: Wilcoxon's test on the Alkaline Peroxide group showed a p value of 0.008 (p 0.05 (0.285 and 0.447) which means that there is no significant difference in surface roughness values before and after immersion. Conclusion: Sargassum sp effervescent granule solution does not affect the surface roughness of the acrylic plate.

Abstract

Patient chief complaint: A 50-year-old woman comes to the Dental Hospital Hasanuddin University Makassar with complaints of masticatory disorders because the dentures that have been used for 9 years are loose and wobbly so that they feel painful when used to eat. Patient’s Oral Status: Intra-oral examination revealed the upper and lower jaws the patient is completely edentulous. In the lower jaw is also accompanied by alveolar ridge resorption. Treatment plan: Using an implant-supported overdenture with magnetic retention in the mandible while in the maxilla a conventional denture because there was still a portion of the maxilla that could be used for retention. Detail of therapy: After obtaining the patient's consent and confirming that the patient had no parafunction, two implants were placed on the body of the mandible using a single stage. Right and left implant length 12.0 mm, diameter 4.0 mm. Surface Both the magnet and the attachment guard are coated with titanium nitride (TiN). Clinical significance of therapy: Magnetically implant-supported overdenture can restore masticatory function and restore quality of life

Abstract

Objective: According to the manufacture, fewer than 1 in 10 capsule associated with overdentures on natural teeth separated from the denture base during an 8-year clinical trial; more interestingly, none experience loss of magnetic attraction. Methods: A 50 year old female patient came to Dental Hospital Makassar Hasanuddin University wanted to fix a loose denture, which has been used for 9 years. Chief complaint was a mobile mandibular denture. Treatment for the restoration of oral function, including mastication, using mandibular implant-retained overdenture with magnets in total edentulous. Implant supported retained with magnetic attachment constitute an accurate and predictable treatment option and achieve a higher patients satisfaction. Results: The surface of both magnet and attachment keeper were coated with titanium nitride (TiN). Self-curing resin was used for luting between  magnets and denture base resin. Conclusion: Magnetic attachments can be used to retain mandibular implant overdenture.Key words: Implant supported overdenture with magnets, resorbed alveolar ridge, total edentulous

Abstract

Objective : The aim of this case report restore healthy tooth function so that patients can chew food properly, so the method of implant placement is a good choice for patients with tooth loss. The adhesive bridge denture treatment aims to restore a missing tooth. The indication of adhesive bridge denture treatment is a mild contact of occlusion, young patients and good oral hygiene. Methods : On first visit doing filling status and patient signed an informed consent and making study casts, then proceed with making a surgical templete. After that, a ct-scan was performed to determine the size of the implant that matches the size of the available bone. The second visit, carried out the edentulous 36 implantation process using implants measuring 3.7mm in diameter and 12 mm in length with the EZ Dent-I IDI brand. Third visit, tooth color selection wih shade guide, and preparation of the palatal part of abutment teeth 12 and 21 was made for bridge adhesive in edentulous teeth 11. Two months later, double impression was performed for the manufacture of supra structural teeth .Results : The advantage of dental implants is that they closely resemble natural teeth because they are embedded in the tissue so they can support aesthetics, protection of adjacent teeth and the development of self-confidence. Bone density obtained from Ct-Scan radiographic greatly determines this treatment choice, the higher the bone density, the better the prognosis produced. Conclusion : The use of dentures with implant support for posterior mandibular teeth and adhesive bridge dentures for maxillary anterior teeth provides satisfaction for patients because it can overcome aesthetic problems and improve good phonetic and masticatory functions. Keywords: Adhesif Bridge, Bone Density, Ct-Scan, Dental Implant.

Abstract

Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is a common congenital defect of the craniofacial region. Presurgical nasoalveolar moulding (PNAM), which reshapes the alveolar and nasal segments before surgical repair, is an orthopaedic plate that can passively reposition the alveolar segment and nasal cartilage before surgical repair. PNAM with nasal stent has the advantages of correcting immature nasal cartilages and maintaining a normal position. This article describes the stages and results of pre-surgical treatment of an infant with PNAM with a single nasal stent of a complete unilateral CLP infant sinistra. A 7-day-old male infant with unilateral complete labiognatopalatoschizis sinistra was treated using a PNAM nasal stent design to form nasal cartilage. The premaxilla-ry position was corrected by making periodic adjustments to the anatomical surface of the PNAM. The gap was narrowed so that the premaxillary position was improved, and the nasal morphology was more symmetrical between the cleft and non-cleft sides. It is concluded that pre-surgical treatment with PNAM creation with a single nasal stent in complete unilateral CLP infants can correct the premaxillary position and narrow the gap before labioplasty.

Abstract

Patients with flat ridge due to alveolar bone resorption will have reduced denture retention and support. The modification moulding technique is a moulding performed on the upper and lower jaws as a solution to address loose dentures by improving retention, stability and pressure distribution. This article discusses the effectiveness of modification moulding in the treatment of flat ridge on the upper and lower jaws. A 49-year-old man came to the Prosthodontics Department of Unhas Dental Hospital to have a new denture made because the old denture was loose. Subjective and objective examinations were found to be flat on the upper and lower lingir. After being treated with modification moulding, it showed accurate occlusion, good retention and stability and even pressure distribution, thus improving the patient's masticatory function and aesthetics. It was concluded that modification moulding is effective for the treatment of upper and lower jaw flat ridge
