Abstract

Diatom is microalgae that has a wide distribution and cosmopolite. Diatom can be used as bioindicator of environment changes in the past, because of its sensitivity to habitat condition and its characteristic which can be fossilize. This research was conducted in Muara Sungai Banjir Kanal Timur Semarang. This location selected on the tide area. This reasearch aims to assess the abundance, diversity, and equal distribution of fossils diatom The research begins by taking samples of sediment to a depth of 34 cm and then sliced per-6 cm.The result was found 36 species diatom, the most abundant species is Pinnularia borealis Ehrenberg. Diversity index between 1.84 – 2,58 shows that the ecosystem in Muara Sungai Banjir Kanal Timur Semarang has environmental conditions are less stable until rather stable based its benthic diatom communities. Distribution the individuals number of each species evenly distributed on each layer. The dominance of diatom was found are Pinnularia (Pinnularia biceps, Pinnularia rabenhorstii, Pinnularia borealis), it’s dominance in each layer. Keywords: bioindikator, diatom, muara Sungai Banjir Kanal Timur Semarang.

Abstract

Herbarium are authentic evidence in the form of plants that serve as a reference of identification to identify plant species. Endiandra is one of genus of family Lauraceae and widely used, however, the name Endiandra still not very well known. Knowledge of the distribution and morphological characters Endiandra in Sumatra necessary to complete the information Endiandra in Malesia region. Research using herbarium specimens Endiandra of Sumatra in the Herbarium Bogoriense with morphological approach and use the information on the specimen label to graph the distribution of heights and distribution maps using ArcGIS software. The characters are important in distinguishing the types Endiandra in Sumatra ie hair; presence or absence of, a lot or a little, the number of lateral veins of leaves and surface texture of the leaves and stems. Endiandra scattered in every province of Sumatra island in the lowlands to highlands 3-1100 meters above sea level from 1200 to 2000 meters above sea level. Keywords: Endiandra, morphology, distribution, Sumatra.

Abstract

Lauraceae is a group of flower plant that have a significant economic value. In the Natural Preserve of Dungus Iwul has been identified the existence of the Lauraceae family. The purpose of this research is to determine the diversity of Lauraceae species, understand Lauraceae density and frequency in Natural Preserve of Dungus Iwul, and understanding it’s utilization. The observation was done on 1 ha plot sample, which include identification, inventarization, and the collection of the Lauraceae species, the research was done on May until June 2016. There are 48 individual members of the Lauraceae species which is consist of nine species and 4 genera, e.g. Cryptocarya, Litsea, Actinodaphne, Cinnamomum. The highest density value were Litsea racemosa C.T White with 29,79% as relative density and the lowest density were Cinnamomum javanicum Blume and Litsea resinosa Blume with 2,13% as relative density. The species with the highest frequency were Litsea racemosa C.T White with 24,32% as relative frequency value and the species with the lowest frequency were Cinnamomum javanicum Blume dan Litsea resinosa Blume with 2,70% as relative frequency value. The Lauraceae family have benefits such as animal feed, building materials, cover crops, ornamental plants, industrial raw materials, essential oil, and act as a medicine. Keywords :     Lauraceae, Natural Preserve of DungusIwul, species diversity,                                             density and frequency plants utilization.

Abstract

Indonesia has a very high biodiversity, as well as ferns (Pteridophyta).Selo climbing lane at Merbabu Montain Nasional Park selected as the study site because of the many ferns that were founded in this area. The purpose of this study was to analyze the diversity of ferns species.in tropical rain forest ecosystem of high mountains and sub-alpine forests ecosystem on Selo climbing lane at Merbabu Mount National Park. There are many human activity in Selo climbing lanesupposed to influence the existing plants. This research was held on August-December 2016. The method usedinventory inSelo climbing lane and Plot, then analyzed using diversity index. The results found 33 species of ferns from 15 families. The diversity of ferns in the tropical rain forest ecosystem of high mountains fall into the medium category except at post II (2412 masl) has low diversity. Diversity in the sub-alpine forest ecosystem can not be calculated. Key word: diversity, fern, Selo climbing lane.
