Abstract

In the earlier films produced by Disney, the female main characters are dominated by white-skinned women. Disney’s films that have non-white female main characters just emerged at the end of the 20th century. However, the question whether white women and non-white women maintain the same qualities are still going on. Thus, this study investigates the representation of Disney’s white and non-white women in Brave (2012) and Moana (2016) produced by Walt Disney Studios in the 21st century. Adopting a qualitative method, this present study analyzes the female main characters’ characterizations which are drawn upon Boggs and Petrie’s (2008) framework of characterization in films. The study also employs Corrigan’s (2010) framework of mise-en-scene to strengthen the analysis. The findings reveal that Disney’s white and non-white women are represented differently. Disney’s white women tend to be represented as a rebellious female main character in the domestic sphere. On the other hand, Disney’s non-white women represent a devoted female main character in the realm of the public sphere. Despite the differences, both female main characters represent a new archetype of Disney’s princess who is more egalitarian, brave and not dependent on men. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan kajian literatur terkait dengan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dalam mengerjakan soal matematika pada jenjang SD, SMP, SMA, dan Perguruan Tinggi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah Systematic Literature Review (SLR), yang terdiri dari 53 sampel hasil penelitian kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Sampel terdiri dari jurnal terindeks yang diterbitkan pada periode 2015 – 2022. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mendokumentasikan semua artikel terkait pemahaman konsep matematis siswa, ditinjau dari tahun penelitian, jenjang pendidikan, ukuran sampel dan jenis penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian didapat, bahwa artikel mengenai kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa terkait karakteristik dan gaya belajar mendominasi pada delapan tahun terakhir, sedangkan artikel mengenai gender dan media pembelajaran cenderung sedikit serta kurang diminati oleh para peneliti. Peneliti lebih banyak melakukan penelitian pada jenjang pendidikan SMP dengan mayoritas jumlah sampel kurang dari 30.

Abstract

In learning activities at school students often have difficulty solving math problems, especially during the process of solving math problems. Teachers must know the difficulties that students have when solving a mathematical problem in learning at school. The Aim of this study is to analyze student learning barriers in the material of trigonometric equations in 11th grade of senior high school. This research was conducted in one of the senior high schools in Lampung. The subjects of this study were students in that school. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data collection technique in this study is a written test and students interview. The data obtained were collected and then analyzed using descriptive analysis, by describing the results of student answers in the form of errors in answering test questions. The results showed that students had difficulties in understanding concepts, principles and operations on the material of trigonometric equations.Keywords: learning obstacle, student difficulties, trigonometric equations

Abstract

The multiplication operation is a crucial topic in learning mathematics. Nevertheless, there were still students who considered the topic to be a difficult topic, one of which was for elementary and junior high school students at the Graha Asuh Jabal 165 Foundation, Bandung Regency. These problems occur due to the learning process that is not optimal. Therefore, the purpose of carrying out this service activity is to help students or service targets understand the concept on the topic of multiplication operations which are packaged in an attractive way so that students are motivated to take part in the learning process. The method for implementing this activity consists of three stages, namely: (1) the activity planning stage; (2) implementation stage; and (3) evaluation stage. The results obtained in this service activity are in the form of student responses which indicate that students are very enthusiastic in participating in the learning process, and make it easy for students in the process of calculating multiplication operations.
