Abstract

The effect of different initial time of artificial feeding to the growth and the activities of digestive enzymes of humpback grouper larvae Cromileptes altivelis (Valenciennes 1828).Humpback grouper is an economically marine finfish commodity, so it is important to scale up its culture. In aquaculture, feed is dominantly affecting to fish growth. Besides live feeds, theartificial feed is also given to fulfill the need of nutrient for larvae. However, the capability of larvae to digest the artificial feed is still limited because of its simplicity and immaturity of digestive system structure. Digestive enzymes are a biological indicator to figure out the capability of larvae to digest the artificial feed. This research was conducted to find out the influence of different initial time of artificial feeding to the growth and digestive enzyme activity of humpback grouper larvae. Larvae rearing were done in hatchery. Larvae were fed with live feed rotifers started in the evening of the second day. The treatment given in this research was the difference initial time of artificial feeding, i.e: (A) given at 8 days old larvae and (B) given at13 days old larvae. The variable observations were the growth and digestive enzyme activity of larvae. The results indicate that the different initial time of artificial feeding influenced to thegrowth and digestive enzyme activity of humpback grouper larvae. Total length, body weight, length of dorsal spine and ventral spine of 30 days old humpback grouper larvae on treatment A were 17.47±2.35 mm, 0.11±0.04 g, 6.83±0.45 mm and 5.07±0.50 mm, respectively, while on treatment B were 13.23±2.53 mm, 0.04±0.02 g, 5.73±1.11 mm and 4.48±0.50 mm, respectively. Up to 30 days old larvae, protease and amylase enzymes activities of larvae on treatment A was higher than on treatment B, while lipase enzymes activity of larvae on treatment B was higher than on treatment A. Therefore, the different initial time of artificial feeding gives the different effect on the growth and the activities of protease, amylase and lipase enzymes of humpback grouper larvae.Key words: artificial feed, growth, digestive enzyme activity, humpback grouper, larvae

Abstract

Ikan kerapu batik merupakan jenis ikan laut yang bernilai ekonomis tinggi, sehingga  budidaya terhadap ikan ini perlu dilakukan. Dua parameter yang penting dalam budidaya adalah pertumbuhan untuk mengetahui kondisi individu ikan dan tingkat kematangan gonad (TKG) yang menunjukkan perkembangan gonad ikan. Kedua hal tersebut merupakan indikator yang penting untuk evaluasi keberhasilan suatu budidaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan, panjang dan berat ikan kerapu batik hasil budidaya serta perkembangan tingkat kematangan gonadnya selama pemeliharaan. Penelitian menggunakan 2 buah bak fiberglass volume 1.000 L, yang masing-masing bak diisi dengan 20 ekor ikan dengan ukuran panjang awal 8,96± 1,5 cm dan berat tubuh  13±2 g.  Pemeliharaan dilakukan selama 19 bulan dan selama itu ikan diberi pakan pellet. Variabel yang diamati adalah pertumbuhan ikan yang diukur dari panjang dan berat tubuhnya, serta tingkat kematangan gonad dan diameter telurnya. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada akhir penelitian, panjang ikan mencapai 16,0-30,9 cm, terbanyak pada kisaran panjang 22,0-24,9 cm (37,7%), dan berat tubuhnya berkisar 60-484 g. Pertumbuhan berat ikan lebih cepat daripada pertumbuhan panjangnya. Gonad ikan mulai berkembang pada panjang 19,0-21,9 cm dengan TKG I (54,5%), II (27,5%) dan III (18,0%). Pada akhir penelitian, ikan dengan panjang 28,0-30,9 cm sudah mencapai TKG IV  (60%).  Kisaran diameter telur yang dominan pada TKG I, II, III dan IV, masing-masing adalah 10,0-35,9 µm (89,5%), 36,0-61,9 µm (73,2,%), 36,0-61,9 µm (56,1%) dan 30,0-61,9 µm (58,8%). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa ikan kerapu batik hasil budidaya yang dipelihara dalam bak pemeliharaan dapat mengalami pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tingkat kematangan gonad.

Abstract

Pemberian pakan eksogen awal merupakan hal yang penting dilakukan dalam kegiatan pembenihan ikan laut, termasuk ikan kerapu macan (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus). Peralihan dari pakan endogen ke pakan eksogen merupakan fase kritis bagi kelangsungan hidup larva ikan kerapu macan pada stadia awal. Keberadaan pakan eksogen dapat berpengaruh terhadap aktivitas enzim pencernaan dan pertumbuhan larva. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi peranan pakan eksogen awal terhadap aktivitas enzim pencernaan dan pertumbuhan larva stadia awal. Dua perlakuan yang diujicobakan adalah larva diberi pakan eksogen dan larva tidak diberi pakan eksogen. Pakan eksogen awal yang diberikan berupa zooplankton rotifer Brachionus rotundiformis. Parameter yang diamati adalah aktivitas enzim pencernaan yang meliputi protease, amilase dan lipase; penyerapan pakan endogen; dan pertumbuhan larva yang meliputi panjang total dan bobot tubuh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas enzim pencernaan larva umur 3 hari yang tidak diberi pakan awal adalah lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan larva yang diberi pakan eksogen awal. Pakan endogen habis terserap pada larva umur 3 hari. Panjang total larva pada kedua perlakuan adalah cenderung sama, sedangkan bobot tubuh pada larva yang diberi pakan awal lebih besar dibandingkan yang tidak diberi pakan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pakan eksogen awal berpengaruh terhadap aktivitas enzim pencernaan dan pertumbuhan larva ikan kerapu macan pada stadia awal.
