Abstract

Pavement conditions in Indonesia often do not reach their design life during the service period. This may cause damage. There is a need for a pavement mixture that has good bearing capacity and durability, is not sensitive to weather, and is safe for the environment. This study aims to analyze the performance of the Hot Rolled Sheet-Wearing Course (HRS-WC) mixture with the addition of rubber tire waste and the influence of the mixing method. This study carried out several measurement stages in the laboratory. These include testing the physical properties of aggregates, determining the optimum bitument content value, and carrying out tests to measure several characteristics, namely Marshall, Index Retained Strength (IRS), Indirect Tensile Strength (ITS), Tensile Strength Ratio Test (TSR), Cantabro Loss (CL), and Asphalt Flow Down (AFD) with added levels of 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6% rubber tire powder. The research results showed that the HRS-WC mixture with the addition of rubber tire powder was able to improve the Marshall characteristics in terms of their volumetric properties. Meanwhile, in terms of mechanical properties, the addition of 2% rubber tire powder can improve stability and performance. ITS characteristics, with the addition of 2% and 4% rubber tire powder, were able to improve the performance of the mixture, whereas the TSR characteristics were only added at 2%. The characteristics of IRS, CL, and AFD with the addition of rubber tire powder can improve the performance of the mixture. The use of a gradual mixing method produces better performance compared to conventional mixing methods.

Abstract

Congestion is a form of transportation problem that occurs in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta City. One form of effort to overcome the problem of congestion in the Malioboro area is the implementation of the One Way System. This research aims to analyze and determine the comparison of road performance on Jalan Bhayangkara road section, Pajeksan road section, Margo Mulyo road section, and K.H. Ahmad Dahlan road section before and after the implementation of One Way System in the Malioboro area. Traffic performance analysis was carried out based on MKJI 1997 and modeling was carried out with PTV VISSIM. The implementation of SSA in the Malioboro area caused the average saturation value of the four road sections to increase by 3% and caused the average speed value of the four road sections to decrease by 2%. Therefore, it can be stated that the implementation of One Way System is not the main solution in solving transportation problems.

Abstract

Porous asphalt is an open graded hot mix asphalt with a small percentage of fine aggregate and a large percentage of coarse aggregate. Porous asphalt is an asphalt mixture that is being developed for wearing course construction. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of adding rubber tire powder on the performance of the Asphalt Porous-Wearing Course. In this research two standard gradations for porous asphalt were used, namely Australian gradation (AAPA) and California gradation (CalTrans) with the addition 0%, 2%, 4%, and 6% of rubber tire powder. Based on the research carried out, it can be seen that the addition of rubber tire powder to a mixture with AAPA gradation is better in terms of its ability to accept loads without experiencing deformation (stability) and the possibility of the mixture being able to withstand maximum loads to prevent traction failure (ITS). Meanwhile, mixtures with Caltrans gradations are better in terms of resistance to wear (CL), homogeneous mixing of asphalt and aggregate (AFD), and ability to resist cracking (TSR). The addition of rubber tire powder was not able to improve the strength due to immersion at extreme temperatures (IRS) in a mixture of both gradation specifications.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of traffic performance at Pamungkas Intersection, Kaliurang, Yogyakarta, after the relocation of the Faculty of Law of Universitas Islam Indonesia to the Integrated Campus. The relocation has significantly increased traffic volume, resulting in congestion and a decline in intersection performance. This study aims to assess current traffic conditions, forecast future scenarios, and propose effective alternative solutions to enhance traffic flow. Additionally, to determine the fuel consumption and operational costs of the vehicle. The methodology employed was a descriptive, quantitative approach, utilizing both primary and secondary data collection. Primary data included intersection geometry conditions, vehicle volume, and queue length, while secondary data included the population of Sleman Regency. The analysis is based on PKJI 2023, and the level of service is based on PM No. 96 of 2015. The results showed that the intersection currently operates at a Level of Service (LOS) of F, with a degree of saturation exceeding 0.85. Two alternative improvement scenarios were proposed: (1) signal redesign and reduction of side barriers, and (2) the same with road widening. Although both alternatives reduce the degree of saturation, Alternative 2 exhibits relatively better performance, while still maintaining LOS F. In terms of environmental impact, Alternative 2 results in lower fuel consumption and thus reduced emissions. The highest vehicle operating cost is recorded for medium passenger cars (MP) at IDR 14,869.86/km, followed by motorcycles (MC) and medium-sized vehicles (KS).
