Abstract

Literature as an art and culture can be used to convey many forms of messages like moral, religion and cultural values that can affect the mindset of society. As time goes by, the art of literature started neglected. This is cause a certain anxiety of the existence of literary art in the future. Related to this issue, Pekanbaru needs The Graha Sastra facilities which can serve as a space and a media appreciation of the literary art. To achieve this goal, Graha Sastra was designed with facilities that can support the literary arts development activities such as education, production and recreation facilities. "Architecture as a language of literature" was appointed as Graha Literature’s design concept. This concept was implemented in the outer space order, mass formation, and the space order in the buildings. Postmodern Architecture approach with emphasis on hybrid method, the design of the Graha Sastra is expected can produce an architectural design which appropriate, either to the building or the enthusiasts of the literary art. Elements of the Graha Satra in Pekanbaru design consist of the zoning area, mass order, the mass formation,outdoor space, structure, space order in buildings and facade. Design patterns at Graha Sastra using design patterns that correspond to the elements of literature and combined two characters style, realism and romanticism. Whereas the application of the concept can be felt at the momentwhen the user reach the recreational facilities through a spinning and contoured circulation as well as stages of the plot of the flow of a story.Keywords: Languange, Literary Elements, Hybrid Architecture

Abstract

Malay Ornament Museum Of Riau is the specialized museum that contains a collection of Malay decorative and ornament. Ornament that is stored in the museum is an architectural ornament or Riau public used in buildings (arts of Malay). Storage categories of decoration is divided into two, namely in the form of carvings and ancient manuscripts. In the design of this Ornament Museum, the main concern is the circulation in the exhibition space. Circulation must be created to make visitors enjoy all the collection without feeling bored and exhausted. In addition to circulation, to reinforse the theme of the museum, the building uses the concept of transformation of traditional Malay architecture in order to wither atmosphere can be felt throughout the building.Keyword: museum, ornament, Riau Traditional Malay.

Abstract

Puberty is an important period in human life because puberty is a transition stage from children to adult. In this period, teenagers commonly experience several changes in their body, namely physical changes transforming into adult-like physic, attitude, feeling and emotional changes which are often not realized by the teenagers themselves such as embarrassment, happiness, jealousy, sadness, fear, anxiety, love and curiousity. Teenagers development had not been integrated with facilitated guidances. This can be proved by the fact that there is no media facilitating teenagers'activities in exercising their interests and talents to be more positive such as sports and arts. This is very important, because not only it educates and trains the teenagers but it is also fun. Therefore, "Graha Wisata Remaja" is built as a medium facilitating the teenagers to improve their interestsand talents. These teenagers' characters that are needed to develop are transition characters from children to adult. And this associates the metamorphosis process. Thus, Graha Wisata Remaja is designed by using metamorphosis concept. To reveal the nature of labil teenagers who are interested in new things put into visual quality and environment im Graha Wisata Remaja, the postmodern metaphor method is chosen. Metaphor is considered as a code. And this code is oncereceived by the observers from an object by depending on the other object and how to see a building as something else because its assemblence. Graha Wisata Remaja built in 2 ha. Abstract

Early childhood is a golden period in human development, because at this time began to be formed and expanded child competence development, both cognitively, emotionally and socially. One of the means that can support the development of children through early childhood education institutions. The Early Childhood Education Center in Pekanbaru will facilitate means of education such as classrooms, means of supporting such a garden nursery, children's play area, art space, performance space as well as a hall area. The child has its own character with different adults. The character of the child, active, creative, and do not like to be restricted cause the necessity of processing specifically against the arrangement of space to accommodate children's activities. With that to optimize The Early Childhood Education Center in Pekanbaru used architectural approach behavior. So there will be formed a good relationship between the function of space and user behavior. The basic idea in the formulation of the concept of the Design Center for early childhood education is derived from the character of early childhood behavior, where early childhood is the period of the free developing imagination and creativity. The application of the concept is applied to the arrangement of masses of buildings, building forms, circulation, structuring of space inside and outside spaces, as well as the facade of the building in accordance with the character of the child.Keyword: The Early Childhood Education Center, Pekanbaru, Architecture of Behavior.

Abstract

Architecture Department Building of Riau University is building which functioned to accommodate architectural education activities. Because of the Architecture Department Building is under management of Engineering Faculty, the design of Architecture Department Building of Riau University need to be adapted with the design of other buildings in Engineering Faculty environment. To improve students comfortability in architectural creativity, organic architecture as the design approach blend the nature context into the design. Organic architecture is the architecture philosophy which present the harmony between building as the place for the people to do some activities with their environment around. Based on organic architecture principles of Frank Lloyd Wright that the nature is the main element of a design, then “organic from the trees” as the design concept gives the design solutions based on contextual issues and character of the trees as inspiration the mass concept. Contextual consideration produce the order mass, orientation of mass, landscape pattern and circulation within the site. While the mass concept inspired by the characteristics of the trees in the form of trunk, branches, twigs and branches produces a transparent foam of mass with pattern of open space and a porous mass with the facade and unique roof. The result of Architecture Department Building of Riau University design grow and develop from the existing condition of the site and harmony with the environment around of the building.Keyword: Architecture, Building, Contextual, Organic, Trees.

Abstract

Indonesian society are familiar with the art, culture and crafts that suitable with the habits, skills and needs. Tenun songket craft is one of the traditional craft in Riau’s Malay community, which in ancient times were often made by the nobles and only used by the royals. But nowadays, songket has been used by the public and became one of the craft that many tourists hunted as a souvenir of Riau Province. Therefore, riau needs for a place of Tenun Craft Center to preserve the craft from extinction and provide the information of tenun songket craft. Sentra is a small unit area that has a certain characteristic in which there are activities of the production process of a business type that produces a product. Craft is the result of human activity and creativity in the form of art and culture that has developed since long time ago. Tenun craft centers design adopts the Visual Appearance from Traditional Architecture of Malay’s Rumah Kajang and the settlement patterns of Talang Mamak tribes. Abstract

Bird is one of animals that comes in various species and spreads in almost every part of Earth’s surface. However, certain specieses of birds is on the verge of extinction. Nature destruction andpoaching are the causes of the extinction. In Indonesia, there are 131 kinds of birds whose existence is endangered. Therefore, a medium to acomodate endangered birds is needed and it’s called as Bird Park. The Bird Park is designed using Metaphoric Postmodern Architecture approach. The purpose of using Metaphoric Postmodern Architecture is to create a replica of bird’s real habitat. Postmodern Metaphoric Architecture is a design theory that takes the shape and characteristics of an object andapplied it to the building’s appearance. Through this Postmodern Metaphoric theme, we are able to get the concept of ‘Unity in Diversity’. This is to combine and connect the functions of the Bird Park as means of recreation, education, and conservation. Through this Postmodern Metaphoric Architecture theme and the concept of ‘Unity in Diversity’, we are able to get the shapes andcharacteristics of birds that can be applied on the mass arrangement and façade pattern of the Bird Park.Keywords: Extinction, Bird Park, Methaporic Postmodern Architecture

Abstract

The development of town nowadays is not considering humanity side and social relation to the people. pekanbaru with the increasing density of people and also a hectic activities make people get bored and stress easily. Meanwhile pekanbaru has no suitable recreational facilities caused by governor's inability to make tourist attraction. hence, people need to have a place for entertainment and relaxation to eliminate fatigue. adventureland is a place for tour which is full of game and emphasizes to storyline and thinking ability in analyzing a place visually or concluding the things. Design approach applied is more prioritizing the principle of architecture ecology than ken yeang's, with the aim that the designed area has more integrity in the effort of noticing the circumstance around. the design of this area uses "educational tours" as a concept that is also basic of ken yeang's : 1) energy saving, 2) physic integrity 3) systems integrity by nature process 4) integrity of human resource 5) natural air circulation 6) responsive orientation 7) humanism. this adventureland has land area of 4,5 hectares with 17 units rides that divided into 4 zone : easy zone, medium zone, hard zone and simulator zone. Abstract

Recreation is one thing that needed by the community, include the people in Pekanbaru City. Pekanbaru is developted city. The media that can accommodate the needs of leisure and entertainment for all society is theme park. Japan Theme Park is designed with the concept Japanese culture. Themes and concepts have to be related to Japan in addition to enjoying recreation and entertainment. Visitors can also learn about positive values such the culture of Japan. Japan is the country that has historical links with Indonesia. Japanese culture is shown into Japan Theme Park, grouped and limited to produce any buildings that will be displayed at the Japan Theme Park. Japanese traditional architecture incorporated into the design of Japan Theme Park through the application of some characteristics of Japanese traditional architecture. The direction of building orientation, mass order, building mass formations, building facades, building structure, and interior of the building are the application of some characteristic of Japanese traditional architecture. The approach was applied to all elements of design, ranging from outdoor fabric, formed by the masses, up to the room within Japan Theme Park. With the application of Japanese culture as a concept and Japanese traditional architecture as a theme could cause a great atmosphere of Japan in ancient times. Abstract

Traditional market is public facility that must be in every subdistrict. Base on data from Dinas Pasar Pekanbaru, until 2015 Pekanbaru traditional market that managed by government there are 6 units. There are Agus Salim market, Labuh Baru market, Simpang Baru market, Cik Puan market, Rumbai market and Lima Puluh market. Total subdistrict in Pekanbaru city is 12 subdistricts. Therefore Dinas Pasar Pekanbaru must be increase the quantity of traditional market in every subdistrict. It makes pasar kaget grow up. Therefore, Rumbai subdistrict highly require for traditional market. The concept of traditional market design is interaction with nature, building, and human. It’s mean, how to make every element in traditional market area interacting each other. The require of tropical architecture influence in traditional market design is differentiate this market with traditional market that must be exist before. Therefore the market that doing adaption with environment around building, whether nature or circumstance in around building. Design element of Pekanbaru traditional market with tropical architecture approachment is zoning, the mass order, the exterior order, mass form, the interior order, and structure. The concept is applied on mass form that follows the site and facilitate the access of visitors to reach the parking area into the buildings, and between buildings.
