Abstract

The objectives of the research were to find out the kinds of teacher talk and learner talk used by English teacherand learners during the classroom interaction and to know the language mostly used in the classroom. The participants of this study were 35 students and 1 English teacher that were taken using purposive sampling technique. This descriptive study used recording and interview in colecting the data. The results of clasroom interaction recording was then analyzed using Flander’s Interaction Analysis Categories (FIAC). It was obtained that teacher talk (75,5%) dominated the interaction during the classroom. In the interaction, the teacher mostly used ask question category (30,2%) meanwhile the learners mostly used pupil talk response category (9,1%). Furthermore, Indonesian language (57,2%) was dominantly used, while English was only 28,1%. From the research result, it can be concluded that the English teacher dominated the class by asking so many questions and mostly used Indonesian language during the classroom was taking place. It gave the students less chance to explore and practice their English. Keyword: teacher talk, learner talk, classroom interaction.

Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating the effects of Podcast with Peer Assisted Learning in the EFL listening classroom. In conducting this research, pre-experimental design was used. The sample of this study was selected by using simple random sampling involving 27 students as the sample. The data collected were analyzed by using t-test (paired sample t-test) and percentage for two questionnaires, students’ motivation and perception. The result showed that (a) there was a significant difference in listening comprehension achievement before and after being taught by using Podcast with Peer Assisted Learning where t-obtained was 8.921 and the significance value was 0.000 which less than 0.05. On the basis of this result, it can be inferred that listening comprehension achievement of students before and after teaching by using podcast with peer-assisted learning was substantially improved. (b) The percentage score for learning motivation from the students was (55.6%) in high level, moderate 29.6% and low level was (5%). This score was considered students have high level of learning motivation. (c) most of the students gave positive perceptions on the use podcast with peer assisted learning in listening classroom. It can be concluded that teaching using podcast with peer assisted learning can develop the students listening comprehension achievement.

Abstract

The problem of this study was concerned with the effectiveness of using Flipped Lesson Model in teaching reading comprehension. The objective of this study was to find out whether or not Flipped lesson model was effective to use in teaching reading to the students of English Education Study Program Baturaja University. In this study, pre-experimental method was used. The result it was found mean score of pre-test 48,33 and the mean score of post-test was 61,55 based on calculating of t-test, the value of sign. 0,000 less than the significance level (α = 0,05) the value of tobtained = 11,642 was more than ttable = 1,69 with df 29, and the value of sig. (2-tailed was 0,000). It less then the significance lavel (α = 0,05). Based on the result of t-test had been given, the researcher concluded that it was effective teaching reading by using Flipped Lesson Model to EFL Learners.

Abstract

Membangun budaya literasi bagaikan jantung dalam tubuh manusia. Sebuah komponen penting yang menentukan keberlangsungan kehidupan. Sebuah mesin yang mampu menghidupkan nyawa suatu kendaraan. Tanpa adanya gerakan literasi di lingkungan masyarakat maka tingkat baca tulis akan mengalami kemunduran yang berdampak meningkatnya angka buta huruf. Oleh karena itu, maka sosialisai kampung literasi diharapkan mampu menggerakan masyarakat untuk dapat berinovasi dalam menunjang kegiatan kampung literasi, demi  membangun sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas terutama di Desa Tanjung Lengkayap yang dijadikan sebagai objek penyuluhan. Adapun permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra meliputi a. Kurangnya sosialisasi tentang kampung literasi, b. Terbatasnya media atau fasilitas yang menunjang pembelajaran, c. Kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat Desa untuk gemar membaca, dan d. Belum adanya masyarakat yang berinisiatif untuk melakaksanakan program kampung literasi.

Abstract

Interacting and doing speech is an activity that is carried out by humans every day. Therefore, it is very important to understand and do the speech well. The purpose of this research; first, describe the need for implicature modules, presuppositions, cooperative principles and politeness principles according to students and lecturers of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Baturaja University. Second, describe the design of the implicature module, presuppositions, the principle of cooperation and the principle of politeness. According to the needs of students and lecturers of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Baturaja University. Third, describe the results of expert validation of the implicature module, presuppositions, the principle of cooperation and the principle of politeness in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, University of Baturaja. Fourth, describe the potential influence of the results of the development of teaching materials in the form of implicature modules, presuppositions, the principle of cooperation and the principle of politeness in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Baturaja University. The method used in this research is research and development (research and development). Based on the results of the t-test calculation using the SPSS version 16 program, it is known that the module entitled Presupposition, Implicature, Cooperation Principles and Politeness Principles developed has a potential influence on increasing student abilities. The results of the t-test calculation of the presupposition, implicature, cooperative principle and politeness module showed the mean value at pretest and posttest was 18,500 with a standard deviation of 6214 and sig (2-tailed) 0.000 less than 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that students' knowledge increases after using the developed module.

Abstract

Knowledge and abilities about drama are very important for students in the context of learning Indonesian. This ability is one of the abilities that students must have. By having knowledge related to drama theory, it makes it easier for students to apply it to stage art in the form of drama performances. The problems in this research are (1) how is the description of the teaching material needs for the Drama Performance Planning Study Program of Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Baturaja University? Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Baturaja ?, (3) what is the potential effect of developed textbooks on the Dramatic Performance course in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Baturaja University ?. This study aims to (1) describe the need for teaching materials for Drama Performance Planning in the form of textbooks in the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program Staging course, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Baturaja University, (2) produce textbooks according to the needs of the Language Education Study Program. and Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Baturaja, (3) to describe the potential effects of the Drama Performance Planning textbook on learning outcomes. The data on the textbook trial obtained through a multiple choice test of 50 questions showed that the average score of students at the pretest showed the lowest score of 68 and the highest score of 80 with an average of 76.20. After using the developed textbook and posttesting, the students' scores got an increase, namely the lowest score of 70 and the highest score of 90 with an average of 78.14 The increase in pragmatic ability was also seen from the difference between the average test of 15.0. Thus the researcher concludes that the developed textbooks have a potential influence in improving students' learning abilities.
