Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui karakteristik, kelayakan, dan efektifitas penggunaan modulIPA berbasis Science, Environtment, Technology, and Society (SETS) untuk meningkatkankemampuan berpikir kritis pada tema makanan dan kesehatan tubuh. Pada penelitianpengembangan ini menggunakan Model R & D model siklus 4-D yang dikemukakan olehThiagarajan dengan langkah-langkahnya yaitu Define, Design, Development, dan Dissemination.Penelitian diawali dengan studi pustaka dan observasi lapangan selanjutnya menyusun draft -1modul. Draft-1 modul divalidasi oleh ahli materi dan teman sejawat kemudian direvisi menjadidraft-2. Selanjutnya diujicobakan secara terbatas dan direvisi menjadi draft-3. Draft-3 moduldiujicobakan pada kelompok besar. Uji coba kelompok besar diawali dengan pretest dan setelahdilakukan pembelajaran menggunakan modul kemudian diakhiri dengan postest. Materi modulyaitu makanan dan kesehatan tubuh VIII SMP. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 36 siswa. Instrumenyang digunakan angket, lembar observasi, dan tes. Teknik analisis penelitian yang digunakanadalah analisis deskriptif, analisis kelayakan modul berdasarkan skor kriteria, dan analisis teskemampuan berpikir peningkatan N-Gain. Hasil penelitian dan pengembangan disimpulkanbahwa: 1) Karakteristik pengembangan Modul IPA Terpadu Berbasis SETS yaitu modulmengandung serentetan pertanyaan, materi, evaluasi, dan uji kompetensi yang dilengkapi gambar,2) Modul IPA Terpadu berbasis SETS tema makanan dan kesehatan tubuh memenuhi kriteriasangat baik pada aspek materi. Hal ini ditunjukkan pada kesesuaian materi dengan standarkompetensi dan kompetensi dasar, kesesuaian materi dengan tujuan pembelajaran, kemudahanmateri dipahami oleh siswa, 3) modul IPA Terpadu berbasis SETS efektif digunakan sebagai bahanajar baru, efektivitas modul didasarkan atas hasil perhitungan N-gain yang ditinjau dari kenaikanhasil tes kognitif dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebesar 0,6 yang dikategorikan "sedang".Kata kunci: Modul IPA Terpadu, SETS, Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis

Abstract

The study aims to develop a quantum learning-based learning instrument on hydrocarbon and petroleum; determine the feasibility of quantum learning-based learning instrument on hydrocarbon and petroleum, and determine the effectiveness of quantum learning-based learning instrument on hydrocarbon and petroleum to improve student's learning outcomes. This type of research is research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The product developed consists of a syllabus, lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessment instruments. The validation results were analyzed using Aiken's validation obtained a validity coefficient of more than 0.80 or categorized as valid and suitable for use. The effectiveness test results were analyzed using SPSS22 obtained t-count > t-table, so it could conclude that quantum learning-based learning tools on hydrocarbon and petroleum materials were effective for improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study tried to describe the energy in daily life learning to train students' critical thinking skills. Improving critical thinking through learning in school is an effort in enlightening the quality of national education and Indonesian students' readiness to face the globalisation era which is full of challenge and sense of climate’ life that are very competitive. It was important to investigate the learning of energy in living systems in order to train the critical thinking skills because nowadays energy becomes a global issue which relates to the future life. This study utilised a qualitative method. The data were collected by the teacher’s documentation and depth interview. The data were then analysed, described, and interpreted comprehensively. Data analysis result gotten the teacher did not instruct and concentrate yet to the critical thinking. The root problem was the teacher did not show that learning guideline and comprehension that can lead to student critical thinking.
