Abstract

Abstract

The mystery of numbers that were considered to have a role in the mystical dimension has long been practiced since the time of Pythagoras, then known as numerology. Some people in Sundanese tradition believe that numerology brings a lucky influence on their lives and generations. This study aims to reveal how the Sundanese tradition of naming their newborn babies and conduct a phenomenological study on several respondents with unique experiences related to Sundanese numerology in their names. The phenomenon experienced by respondents is seen from the point of view of cultural anthropology. This research was designed using qualitative methods through two approaches, ethnomathematics and phenomenology. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling and snowball methods and obtained 25 respondents scattered around the districts of Ciamis, Banjar, Tasikmalaya, and Garut in West Java. All respondents are expert resources as cultural practitioners in their own culture who can explain the numerology system they used, known as Kasepuhan. The results of the study show that there are many different numerological methods for calculating "lucky names" in the Sundanese tradition that depend on the epistemology of the science of Kasepuhan in their own culture. Most of the calculations involve the concept of integer (modular) operations where each ‘reminder’ represents its own philosophical meaning. Although mathematically the methods of calculating “lucky names” can be learned by everyone, the practice of these calculations is in fact only carried out by people who are considered to have been established from the aspect of science. This article discusses why the mystical phenomenon behind the numerology of the Sundanese tradition cannot be calculated arbitrarily by anyone, people trust more in the numerology calculations performed by Kasepuhan.

Abstract

Sophisticated technology makes many people make innovations, especially in the field of education. The application of information technology to support the educational process has become a necessity for educational institutions in Indonesia. Utilization of information technology is very much needed to increase efficiency and productivity for education management. The application of technology in the field of education that is currently still being developed is the Learning Management System (LMS). LMS or better known as Learning Management System is a software for administration, documentation, activity reports, teaching and learning activities and online activities (connected to the internet), E-learning and training materials. One of the LMS that is open source and has the most users worldwide is the Moodle LMS (Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment).

Abstract

Abstract

Greenhaus’s Theory assesses career satisfaction through five key dimensions: career achievement, goal fulfillment, income, career advancement, and skill development. However, in the context of Islamic guidance and counseling teachers, gratitude should be considered as an additional determinant. Gratitude, as a core spiritual value, plays a significant role in career satisfaction for Muslim educators, yet it is often overlooked in traditional career satisfaction models. This study aims to expand Greenhaus’s Theory by incorporating gratitude as a sixth dimension. A quantitative approach was applied using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with SmartPLS to validate the six-dimensional career satisfaction model. A random sample of 121 Islamic guidance and counseling teachers from Tasikmalaya participated in the study by completing a career satisfaction questionnaire. The findings confirm that career achievement, goal fulfillment, income, career progress, skill development, and gratitude are all valid and reliable indicators of career satisfaction. Gratitude significantly contributes to teachers’ overall career fulfillment, reinforcing its importance as a spiritual dimension in career satisfaction models. The inclusion of gratitude enhances the applicability of Greenhaus’s model in Islamic cultural contexts, addressing the gap in traditional career satisfaction frameworks. Recognizing gratitude as a career satisfaction factor provides a more comprehensive understanding of teacher well-being in religiously influenced educational environments. The adaptation of Greenhaus’s Theory with the inclusion of gratitude offers a more holistic perspective on career satisfaction for Islamic educators. Future research should explore its implications across diverse cultural and religious settings.
