Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and revitalization strategies of the Majelis Tabligh of Muhammadiyah’s Regional Leadership (PWM) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in strengthening the Islamic identity of urban communities amid the challenges of secularization. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model. The findings reveal that the Majelis Tabligh fulfills its role through the distribution of preachers, the establishment of the Muhammadiyah Preachers Corps, preacher training programs, and collaboration with correctional institutions. Its urban da’wah strategies include community-based da’wah, the use of digital media, and cultural approaches that respect local traditions. The revitalization has proven effective in enhancing Islamic literacy, strengthening collective awareness, and promoting inclusive da’wah that reaches marginalized groups. The study concludes that a comprehensive, adaptive, and transformative da’wah strategy is essential to preserve the Islamic identity of NTB’s urban communities while positioning it as social capital for community development.
