Abstract

Opening modification of castellated beam now has varied including circular, diamond and hexagonal, in the selection of openings required data behavior as the basis of planning according to the desired conditions. The purpose of this study is to know the behavior of short-span castellated beam with variations of circular, diamond and hexagonal openings using finite element method. The geometry of the 1 meter span castellated beam used 225x75x7x5 mm. The method used to create a numerical model castellated beam with circular openings that are analyzed using finite element method then verified with experimental model results with geometry, material and loading the same. After the numerical model result closer to the experimental model, then created 5 variations of the geometry of numerical model openings for each variations. The results showed that the variation in the height and width of the same openings in the three types of openings obtained for the circular opening beams have greater deflection than the others because of the larger holes ratio. For diamond opening beams, the ultimate load is greater than the other because the ratio of the smaller holes ratio and for the hexagonal opening beams has the smallest deflection and stress than the others.

Abstract

The use of BIM within construction industry is experiencing development. However, the development of BIM in Indonesia is still very limited. One of the inhibiting factors in the development of BIM is the inadequate availability of BIM specialists and professionals in the construction industry so that an active role of students is needed as the main target in meeting the needs of the construction industry in Indonesia. This research was conducted to analyze the perceptions of students of the Sriwijaya University in the civil engineering and architecture study programs regarding perceptions of knowledge, benefits, adoption, and development of BIM. This study used a quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. It was stated that ‘BIM technology and concepts are important for students to learn’ was to be the highest rank with an average score of 4.70 for Civil Engineering and 4.56 for architecture students. The result shows that the benefits of BIM that influence the most in the construction industry are to improve the quality of construction and enhance design visualization. The most significant driving factor on the development and adoption of BIM is education and training on using BIM software. In addition, the most significant inhibiting factors that influence the development and adoption of BIM are lack of education or training on the use of BIM and lack of knowledge on how to implement BIM software.

Abstract

There have been many studies on Islam and Islamic societies in Papua. However, there have not been many studies on Arab descendants in Papua. Nevertheless, people of Arab descent have long been present in Papua and have played a significant role in developing the Islamic community in Papua. Therefore, discussing their role in the Papuan Muslim community is important. Based on this issue, the following article examines Papuans from the Al-Hamid clan in two chiefdoms in Kaimana, namely Petuanan Namatota and Petuanan Kumisi. The main issue discussed in this research is the Al-Hamid clan's role in Islamic affairs in the Namatota and Kumisi Chiefdoms in Kaimana. The research data were obtained through a literature review and fieldwork in Kaimana, West Papua. The results show that Papuans of Arab descent from the Al-Hamid clan play an important role in religious affairs in the Namatota and Kumisi Chiefdoms. People from Al-Hamid's descendants have been religious teachers, qadhi, mosque imams, and policymakers in Islamic religious affairs in the two chiefdoms since around the end of the 19th Century. Al-Hamid's descendants still carry out these roles, although they are delegated to other parties in some circumstances.
