Abstract

The author argues that the Arab mind entered Indonesian society since the onset of Islam spreading in the 7th century. The development of the Arab mind has its own dynamic and inseparable from Islamic thought. The touch with Hindu-Budha cultural values created Kejawen among the Javanese; the contact with Dutch colonialism resulted acceptance of school system which brings secularism to Indonesian society. In the 80's, the Arab mind was suppressed by politically supported western mind through various ways. Globalization brings another challenge to the Arab mind that, interestingly, strengthens of Islamic identity among younger generation. Key words: The Arab mind; Javanese Islamic thought; political factor; Indonesia.

Abstract

Discourse analysis gains more and more popularity in the field of media and communication studies. Focused on how media represented and framed the Text, it is the goals of discourse analysis to explore many implications underlie such representations. In order to utilize this approach effectively, a deeper knowledge concerning variety of methods and systematic ways on discourse theory was needed, as well as bins of critical and sociopolitical theories. The validity of discourse analysis will be judged by 7 (seven) indicators consisted of research aims, statement of problems, substantive theories being used, discourse theory being chosen, research paradigm being picked up, method being applied and analysis technique being employed.

Abstract

This article explores political marketing communication as a means of political communication using concept and marketing communication techniques to buy political product. According to the goals (such as position, title, and wealth), what considered as political communication products in its broadest terms are leadership, institution, membership, policy, and political activities. Principles, methods, and stages of political communication must be attended seriously so that the product being sold would be embraced by political audience.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe communication as discourse perspective. In this perspective communication is seen an activity to construct of reality into a discourse that some interests entering the discourse. The perspective is to complete to the others ones, first transmissions perspective. Communication is to transmit of messages linearly. Second, perspective of display. Communication is an effort to exhibit many messages for gaining audiences attention. Third, generating of meaning perspective where we use symbols to create meaning. Fourth, ritual perspective which communication as a rites to maintain commonness and solidarity of the participants.

Abstract

Penelitian ini ingin mengkaji tentang praktik komunikasi pemasaran saat ini di era digital pada contoh kasus pesta olahraga PON XX Papua 2021 dengan menganalisis pola jaringan aktor sosial yang direpresentasikan akun di Twitter dengan memperbandingkan percakapan yang didesain dari akun resmi penyelenggara menggunakan [1] tagar #TorangBisa dan percakapan umum menggunakan [2] kata kunci PON Papua. Dalam konteks komunikasi pemasaran, penelitian ini ingin melihat sejauh mana keberhasilan panitia PON Papua memenangkan diperbincangan oleh akun-akun, dan apakah isu olahraga menjadi isu yang diperbincangkan menggunakan tagar atau kata kunci tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini, paradigma teoritis tentang jaringan sosial (social networks), yakni Structural Holes Theory atau Teori Lubang Struktural dikaitkan dalam analisis untuk memperlihatkan ‘peran struktural’ dalam jaringan sosial yang diasumsikan mereka yang diposisikan pada lubang atau hub pada jaringan memiliki tingkat pengaruh yang berbeda dalam hal arus informasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis jaringan sosial atau dikenal social network analysis (SNA). Secara khusus, SNA dilakukan untuk memetakan jaringan terkait akun, tagar, atau kata kunci terhadap suatu percakapan. Jaringan adalah seperangkat aktor (node, dalam hal ini akun media sosial) yang mempunyai relasi dengan aktor lain dalam tipe relasi tertentu. Relasi tersebut bisa berupa mentions, reply, atau Retweet (RT). Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan jaringan sosial kata kunci PON Papua justru lebih baik ketimbang #TorangBisa yang ditandai dengan keunggulan pada level aspek penting, seperti tingkat modularitas dan sentralisasi akun pada percakapan yang terjadi terdiri dari beberapa akun dominan dengan pengaruh ‘kuat’ di antara akun lainnya. Keberhasilan ini digerakkan oleh kekuatan akun secara lebih natural atau organik mampu memancing percakapan lain secara masif.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The Perspective of the Ricoeur hermeneutics about tolerance at the Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) focuses on the interpretation process of NU as an influential Islamic organization concerning tolerance to non-Muslims. The understanding of current tolerance is crucial amid strengthening the action of intolerances and discrimination in various forms of intimidation and assault on minority groups. In addition, the interpretation of the meaning of tolerance can be considered to be one of the triggers of radical action, especially when associated with issues of political leadership, the establishment of a place of worship, and so on. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to understand how the process of interpretation done by NU about tolerance toward non-Muslims. The Method in this study was the hermeneutics method of Paul Ricoeur, that emphasizing the interpretation of the text with the distanciation process between text and the reader. The results show that the interpretation process of tolerance is based on the language (verses) of the Qur'an surat al-Hujurat verse 13 "Lita'arafu", which means to know each other. In the process of language distancing into discourse, the verse is understood by NU tolerances as Ukhuwah Wathaniyah, the Brotherhood of country and nation. The practice of discourse shows that the interpretation of NU is motivated by the reality that the plurality of religion as Sunnatullah, and its practice in the context of muamalah, and to realize the treatise of Islam as a religion of rahmatan lil-aalamin.  The contextual interpretation of NU is based on the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Indonesia.  The Interpretation of this tolerance to non-Muslims can be used as a counter-discourse of the interpretations of radical Islamist groups that considers non-Muslims to be enemies so that they must be affected even.keywords:  hermeneutics, nahdlatul ulama, tolerance, ukhuwah wathaniyah ABSTRAK Perspektif hermeneutika Ricoeur tentang toleransi di organisasi Islam Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) memfokuskan pada proses penafsiran NU sebagai organisasi Islam berpengaruh mengenai toleransi terhadap non-muslim. Pemahaman atas toleransi saat ini sangat penting di tengah menguatkan tindakan intoleran dan diskriminasi dalam berbagai bentuk intimidasi dan penyerangan terhadap kelompok-kelompok minoritas. Selain itu, penafsiran mengenai makna toleransi ini dapat dianggap menjadi salah satu pemicu tindakan radikal, terutama bila dikaitkan dengan isu-isu kepemimpinan politik, pendirian tempat ibadah, dan sejenisnya. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mendalami proses penafsiran mengenai toleransi terhadap non-muslim oleh organisasi Islam NU. Studi ini menggunakan perspektif dan metode hermeneutika Ricoeur yang menfokuskan pada otonomi teks dalam proses penafsiran dan distansiasi makna antara pembuat teks dan pembaca. Kajian ini menghasilkan temuan bahwa dalam proses penafsiran tentang toleransi terhadap non-muslim NU merujuk pada kata “lita’arafu” dalam surat al-Hujurat: 13, yang berarti supaya saling mengenal. Melalui distansiasi dari bahasa ke diskursus, kata “lita’arafu” dipahami NU dalam bentuk ukhuwah wathaniyah, yakni persaudaraan sebangsa dan senegara. Praktik diskursus menunjukkan bahwa penafsiran NU tersebut dilatarbelakangi realitas bahwa pluralitas agama sebagai sunnatullah, dan praktiknya dalam konteks muamalah, serta untuk mewujudkan risalah Islam sebagai agama rahmatan lil-aalamin. Secara kontekstual penafsiran NU dilandasi kepentingan menjaga keutuhan NKRI. Penafsiran tentang toleransi terhadap non-muslim NU ini dapat dijadikan sebagai wacana tandingan atas penafsiran kelompok-kelompok Islam radikal yang menganggap non-muslim sebagai musuh sehingga harus dimusuhi bahkan diperangi.kata kunci: hermeneutika, nahdlatul ulama, toleransi, ukhuwah wathaniyah

Abstract

As one can see, people who have tested positive for COVID-19 and self-isolated are at a risk of experiencing inconvenience such as stigma, lack of   support from the environment, loneliness, depression, and anxiety, which may increase premature mortality. They may save their lives if they receive greater attention and support, especially from the closest people in their community besides people who have got support from the community to recover faster from the virus. The act of kindness is a prosocial action in this form called personal social responsibility (PSR). The objectives of the study are to elaborate on the prosocial behavior of PSR and provide a campaign strategy for encouraging people to carry out PSR activities in their community as prosocial action or altruism to support COVID-19 sufferers, especially those who self-isolate and are infected by COVID-19. This study uses a systematic literature review as its method. Data was collected by searching and accessing relevant literature. The data was analysed based on a thematic and descriptive analysis of the selected literature. The study found that PSR plays a significant role in overcoming social burdens among citizens, including in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. To articulate the PSR Campaign, the researcher refer to communication strategies and social campaign models. Through the campaign, prosocial behaviors must generate in many terms of giving product, money, thought, time, or other forms of concern related to feelings.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the political communication discourse of the politician "Fahri Hamzah" in maintaining his existence. The paradigm used in this research is the constructivist paradigm. Using a qualitative approach, Teun Van Dijk's communication forensic discourse analysis method. The subject of this research is Fahri Hamzah as deputy general chairman of the Gelora party. The object of his research is his political statements. The data used in this research uses two types of data sources, namely primary and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews, questionnaires, documentation and a combination of the four. Meanwhile, data analysis techniques use data reduction, data display and data conclusion. The data validity technique uses source triangulation. Meanwhile, the theories used in this research are discourse analysis theory, forensic communication theory and social construction theory. Based on the research results, a conclusion was obtained about Fahri Hamzah's political discourse which is Philosophische Grondslag as a reference for politics. The characteristics of political communication are carried out up and down as well as vertically and horizontally. Fahri Hamzah manages politics with minimal motives of science-based pragmatism. In the future, with a consistent political tone, Fahri Hamzah can maintain his existence thereby providing many very good and positive political lessons for the people

Abstract

The #MeToo hashtag grew into digital activism among the Twitter users. This activity was becoming the networking space which increased the communication power and collaboration. This research using counter public and the fifth estate as a frame for thinking with a method of social media analyses and critical discourse based on corpus. The object of this research is 631,897 tweets of #MeToo from October 15, 2017 until March 31, 2020. The result shows there is no counter public through this hashtag for the Indonesian context. Nevertheless, users applied the social control for legitimacy of laws and sexual abuse legal cases.
