Abstract

Abstrack: This study seeks to explore the form of code mixing and lexical categories which are often exploited in the entertainment corners of local newspapers in Pekanbaru. It was conducted from January 2018 to July 2018. Qualitative reasearch and descriptive analysis method were applied in this study. The finding discovers that the forms of code mixing which had been observed in the entertainment corner are the insertion of words and hybrid. It also finds out that mostly 54.84% of English lexical categories have been code mixed into the entertainment corner of local newspapers in Pekanbaru were nouns. Therefore, the researcher confirms that there are some code mixing used by journalist into the entertainment corner of local newspaper in Pekanbaru.Keywords: Analysis, Code-Mixing, Entertainment Corner, Local Newspaper

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum through the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) aims to holistically shape students’ character; however, its field implementation still faces various challenges. This study aims to describe teachers’ understanding of the P5 concept, identify implementation barriers, and outline school strategies to overcome them. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that teachers view P5 as an integral part of character education, yet most still require technical training for optimal implementation. Identified obstacles include limited infrastructure, low engagement from some teachers, and insufficient active participation from parents. The school’s strategies involve developing detailed modules, conducting internal training, and collaborating with external parties. The study concludes that successful P5 implementation requires full teacher commitment and adequate facilities. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers and schools in improving the quality of P5 implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' reading comprehension skills through the cooperative learning model type Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) in Grade V students at UPT SD Negeri 012 Kampung Panjang in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this study are the students of UPT SD Negeri 012 Kampung Panjang, while the objects of the study are the cooperative learning model type Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) and the students' reading comprehension skills. The research was conducted in two Iteration, each consisting of two meetings. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, tests, and documentation. Based on the increase in the number of students who achieved the minimum learning mastery criteria (KKTP) and the improvement in the average class scores and classical completeness, the results showed that the average scores and classical completeness in iteration I Meeting 1 were 31.25%, iteration I Meeting 2 was 50%, iteration II Meeting 1 was 75%, and iteration II Meeting 2 reached 87.5%. Based on these findings, it could be concluded that the cooperative learning model type Learning Start with a Question (LSQ) could improve the reading comprehension skills of Grade V students at UPT SD Negeri 012 Kampung Panjang.
