Abstract

The research aims to obtain information of improvement students’ generic skills in science through chemistry learning using ICT-based media on reaction rate and osmotic pressure material. This research was designed with quasi-experimental research method, with the design of non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were students of class XI and XII one of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (State Islamic Senior High School) in Bandung. Learning process in experiment group were conducted using ICT-based media, whereas in control group conducted by applying laboratory activities. Data were collected through multiple-choice test. The result shows that there was no significant difference of n- gain of students’ generic skill in science between experiment and control group. Therefore it can be concluded that the learning process using ICT-based media can improve students generic skills in science as well as laboratory-based activities.

Abstract

Penerapan pembelajaran IPA terpadu sangat membutuhkan peranan dari guru. Lesson study adalah salah satu dari banyak cara dimana guru dapat meningkatkan profesionalime mereka dalam pengajaran IPA secara terpadu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan pembelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Base, dimana siswa akan memecahkan masalah yang diberikan oleh guru dengan menggunakan metode ilmiah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Problem Base melalui lesson study dapat membantu guru untuk mengembangkan seperangkat perangkat pembelajaran dan memberikan pembelajaran yang lebih baik. Dapat diketahui dari peningkatan hasil observasi pada setiap tes dan nilai rata-rata siswa dari tes pertama sampai ketiga. Kegiatan ilmiah dapat membantu siswa untuk memahami materi IPA yang diberikan oleh guru, dan mereka dapat mendapatkan pemahaman yang menyeluruh.The implementation of Integrated Science Learning needs teacher enough. Lesson study is one of many ways which teachers can increase their profesionalism in teaching science Integratedly. The research aim to develop integrated science learning is using the problem base learning model, in which students will solve problem, given by teachers, using scientific methodes. The result of this research shows that the integrated science learning with problem base learning model through lesson study activity can help teachers to develop sets of learning equipment and give the better learning. It can be shown in the increasing observation result on every test and the average students score from the first until the third tests. Students scientific working skill can help students to understand the science material given untedly by the teacher so that they can get the complete understanding.

Abstract

The misconception is one of the obstacles in the concept mastery that needed to be minimalized. This descriptive study was conducted to find the patterns of misconceptions which have occurred on college students who participating in the redox titration course subject. Efforts to minimize misconceptions have been conducted through lectures using the multiple representations with the cognitive dissonance strategies on the 30 students who joined the Fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry course. The research instrument used in this study was 6 multiple-choice tests with reasons. In order to detect the misconception, Certainty of Response Index technique was performed. The preliminary study results showed that 34.30% of students experiencing the misconceptions on redox titration. After treatments, the misconceptions reduced to 28.17%. A misconception that cannot be eliminated was related to the concepts involving in the microscopic and symbolic appearances.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme guru IPA melalui kegiatan lesson study, agar dapat melaksanakan pembelajaran yang efektif dan berkualitas, menggunakan model Problem Based Instruction (PBI) dengan pendekatan Jelajah Alam Sekitar (JAS). Penelitian ini telah berhasil; 1) meningkatkan profesionalisme guru IPA SMP Negeri 30 Semarang, 2) mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran, 3) meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, dan 4) meningkatkan aktivitas siswa. Kesimpulannya adalah LS dapat meningkatkan profesionalisme guru, meningkatkan proses dan hasil belajar siswa. Saran dari penelitian ini yaitu pelaksanaan lesson study perlu dikembangkan di sekolah untuk perbaikan kualitas pembelajaran oleh guru dalam rangka menjadi guru yang profesional.This research is aimed to improve the science teacher professionalim by conducting lesson study activity, in order to create an effective and qualified learning process by using Problem Based Instruction model with Exploring Surrounding Nature (Jelajah Alam Sekitar, JAS) approach. It can be concluded that LS can improve teachers’ profesionalism and students’ learning process and result. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the problem set items to get information and feedback on critical thinking skills tests. This research develops a SGIL model that can improve students’ critical thinking learning. This study uses a research and development design to develop the SGIL model. The SGIL model is proven to be able to improve the critical understanding of PGSD students. The syntax of SGIL consists of 6 steps, namely: (1) discussion of problems and topic selection; (2) research planning; (3) implementation; (4) data integration; (5) analysis and synthesis; and (6) conclusions and communication. The participants were 114 Elementary Teacher Education Program (PGSD) students who were selected by using a random sampling technique. This research was conducted in 3 sample universities. The data of SGIL model effectiveness was measured by using instrument of critical thinking skills. This instrument has been analyzed for its validity, reliability, level of difficulty, and discrimination item. Tests to obtain data were carried out for 90 minutes. The instrument was calculated by using analysis of Quest and Lisrel.

Abstract

The study was carried out to investigate the effect of marination, performed by soaking of beef ingarlic juice, on microbiological and physical properties. The study was committed to a completelyrandomized design, with 5 treatments, i.e.: T0 (unmarinated beef, as a control), T1, T2, T3, and T4 thatbeef were marinated in garlic juice for 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes, respectively, at room temperature(25⁰C). Each treatment consisted of 4 replications. Examination upon experimental parameters wasconducted after marinated (and control) beef was stored for 8 hours at room temperature. Total bacteria,total coliform and water holding capacity of beef were significantly (P<0.05) affected by marinationwith garlic juice. Conversely, cooking loss was not significantly affected (P>0.05) by the treatments. Asa conclusion, marination of beef with garlic juice could reduce total bacteria, total coliform, and waterholding capacity, but could not reduce cooking loss.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to identify the effect of the concentration of hydrochloric acid (HCl) on yield and the characteristics of gelatin from buffalo hide. A completely randomized design was used with various concentrations of HCl treatment 0.3M, 0.6M, 0.9 M, 1.2 M and 1.5M, and four times replication, followed by least significant difference test. The HCl concentration gave significantly effect (P<0.05) on yield, viscosity, pH, gel strength and redness of gelatin. The highest yield (29.17%) was obtained at a concentration of HCl 0.9M. The highest gel strength and viscosity at concentration of 1.2M, were 293.41g bloom and 22.17 cp, respectively. The pH of the gelatin were 5.08 to 5.52. The lightness level (L*) was 69.92-70.97, whereas the redness ranged (a*)  from 0.55 to 1.54 and the yellowness ranged (b*) from 17.54 to 19.59. The moisture, protein and ash concentrations of gelatin were 7.05±0.07-8.92±0.06%, protein content of 83.38±0.06 -91.11±0.03%, and the ash content 0.53 ± 0.04 to 1.23 ± 0.09%, respectively. Based on the spectra absorption of infrared were detected four areas amides: amide A (3402.43-3448.72 cm-1), amide I (1635.65 cm-1), amide II (1527.62 cm-1) and amide III (1242.16 cm-1). The differences in the concentration of HCl had impact on yield,characteristics and secondary structure of buffalo hide gelatin. The HCl concentration at 0.9M was the optimum condition to obtain the highest yield. The characteristics of buffalo hide gelatin after pretreatment using hydrochloric acid had met the standards of GMIA (2012).
