Abstract

Abstract

Backgroud: Stunting is a growth and development disorder experienced by children, as a result of a long-term lack of nutrition. This growth retardation has a negative impact on children's productivity and cognitive abilities. Stunting can occur not only because the mother's nutrition is not fulfilled during pregnancy but starts from the readiness or reproductive health of the woman.. Purpose : The purpose of this research was to look at the factors that cause stunting in toddlers in the Sangihe Archipelago District, North Sulawesi Province.. Result: This study used an analytic observational design with a case control approach. The total sample was 68 parents who had stunted and non-stunted toddlers in the Manente and Tona Health Centers. The results of the analysis using the Chi-Square test and the Fisher Exact Test showed that there was a relationship between adolescent reproductive health, especially tetanus vaccine before marriage (ρ = 0.013) and premarital assistance (ρ = 0.000) with the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Sangihe Islands District. ). Conclusion:There is a relationship between female adolescent reproductive health and the incidence of stunting, it is necessary to carry out further prevention and treatment efforts. As an effort to accelerate the reduction of stunting in toddlers in Sangihe Islands Regency, nurses collaborate with the government to provide education to teenagers and prospective brides about reproductive health, making tetanus vaccine before marriage and pre-marital assistance as one of the conditions that must be met in managing marriage files. Abstract

North Sulawesi is located on a megathrust system and is very vulnerable to destructive earthquake events. Therefore, disaster mitigation from a health perspective must be carried out. Good knowledge will shape a positive attitude as a response that will determine actions in providing effective and optimal health services during a disaster. However, so far, the level of knowledge, attitudes, and actions of doctors in community health centers in North Sulawesi in facing disasters has never been evaluated, so the readiness of doctors in community health centers in facing disasters is still not well understood. One of the effects after a disaster is kidney failure (CKD) due to the lack of fluids needed by the body, making it one of the unavoidable effects of a disaster. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is one of the diseases whose number and prevalence are significant both globally, nationally, and locally in North Sulawesi. The purpose of this research is to: 1) explore the perceptions and experiences of the community regarding the risk factors for CKD, 2) develop and test the effectiveness of a disaster-based education program in increasing community knowledge about CKD prevention. The design used is a multistage mixed method. The research began with the collection of qualitative data through in-depth interviews, followed by the development of an educational program and the experimental testing of the educational program. This research was conducted in Kuwil Village, North Minahasa Regency. A total of 15 participants were involved in the interviews and 38 participants in the experimental phase. Qualitative data is analyzed thematically, while quantitative data is analyzed descriptively through comparison. The results of the qualitative analysis yielded 2 themes. The first theme is the disparity in public knowledge about CKD, and the second theme is the public's efficacy regarding the prevention and impact of CKD. The analysis results using the paired t-test obtained a p-value of 0.000, which means that the disaster-based education program is effective in increasing public knowledge about CKD and its prevention. Having sufficient knowledge and adequate sources of information can help the community in making healthy lifestyle choices, especially in preventing the occurrence of CKD. Disaster-based education programs can be one of the approaches that community health centers can take to improve public literacy regarding CKD prevention.

Abstract

Mental health issues that are not optimally addressed during childhood, particularly among elementary school-aged children, have a significant correlation with an increased risk of mental health problems in later stages of life, namely adolescence or young adulthood. Depression is the most common mental health issue experienced by children, followed by social, behavioural, and emotional disorders, anxiety, psychological distress, internet addiction, stress, social phobia, sexual and emotional abuse, violence, as well as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorders. The variety of mental health issues experienced by children highlights the importance of early attention and intervention to support healthy mental development and prevent long-term adverse effects. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the factors influencing the mental health of elementary school-aged children, including risk and protective factors. A quantitative descriptive study was conducted at SDN Inpres Kolongan, North Sulawesi, using a survey method on a population of 171 students aged 9-14 years, with total sampling resulting in 171 respondents. Data was collected using the Strength and Difficulty Questionnaire for Children (SDQC). The findings of this study revealed a significant "abnormal" score in the emotional symptoms category (66.7%) and behavioural problems category (48%). Meanwhile, "borderline" scores were dominated by behavioural problems (18.1%) and hyperactivity (15.2%). For the "normal" category, the majority were in the prosocial behaviour category (88.9%) and hyperactivity (74.3%). Thus, this study contributes to strategies for preventing mental health disorders in the future and the development of more holistic mental health policies for children, particularly in the field of mental health nursing.
