Abstract

Background: The transmission of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) from mother to baby is now increasing along with the growing number of HIV-infected women. Approximately 15% of pregnant women living with HIV have accessed antiretroviral (ARV) medicine to prevent transmission of the virus to their babies. Purpose: This study aimed to identify the support and healthcare functions available to pregnant women in using the voluntary counseling test (VCT). Methods: This research was conducted in the working area of Gianyar District health center. The independent variables in this study are family support and family healthcare functions. The dependent variable is the utilization of VCT health service facilities. This study employed a cross-sectional research design. The samples were 108 respondents recruited using a probability sampling technique, namely multi-stage sampling. Bivariate and multivariate analysis were conducted using the chi-square test and logistic regression test. Results: The research variable related to the use of VCT health services with family support showed an odds ratio (OR) = 122, while family healthcare function had an OR = 465. Conclusion: Pregnant women with good family support, good healthcare function, increased maternal age, and early gestational age were more likely to use VCT than when they were in opposite situations.

Abstract

The current Covid-19 vaccination has reached most people throughout Indonesia. The main focus of this spectrum is on handling the Covid-19 pandemic through the provision of vaccines in Indonesia. The pandemic's impact is indisputably clear, especially in the Stunting Management Programs, which are likely not optimal and require a viable strategy in handling it. Objective: This study aims to identify the strategy of health workers in tackling stunting in rural areas during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Method: This study employs a quantitative descriptive design where the population involved are health workers holding nutrition programs from health centres in rural areas in the province of Bali. The sampling technique in this study utilizes a non-probability sampling technique, namely purposive sampling of 34 respondents. Afterwards, data collection was done online, with the inclusion criteria for health workers working as nutrition program holders and community health centres in rural areas. This study indicates that 55.90% of health workers are not well-performing at dealing with stunting during the pandemic, while 44.10% of them show positive performance. Therefore, prevention of stunting by health workers during a pandemic is one of the indicators of whether stunting is in a high or low incidence.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a major health problem in developed and developing countries. Until now, the death rate due to CHD is the highest in the world. Its risk factors include major modifiable risk factors, such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, smoking, and non-modifiable risk factors. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the major risk factors for the incidence of CHD. Methods: This study employed an unmatched case-control design, with a total sample of 43 cases and 86 controls recruited by a purposive sampling technique. Case samples were CHD patients diagnosed by a cardiologist and control samples were non-CHD patients who visited the cardiac polyclinic, with similar variables of age, sex, and residence. The samples were taken at the integrated heart center of Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar, based on the patient medical records. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-square test and logistic regression. Results: The results showed three risk factors that statistically and significantly increased the incidence of CHD, namely history of total cholesterol of ≥240mg/dl with adjusted OR=4.64 (95% CI: 1.60-13.49), type-2 diabetes mellitus with adjusted OR=2.85 (95% CI: 1.16-6.99), and smoking with adjusted OR=2.54 (95% CI: 1.01-6.46). Conclusion: The history of high total cholesterol is statistically the most dominant risk factor for the incidence of CHD.
