Skripsi dengan judul “The Analysis of Characters in “The Impossible” MovieBased on Humanity Issues”bertujuan untuk mengetahui unsur-unsur intrinsik yangterkandung dalam film; menemukan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan yang terkandung didalamnya; dan mencari tahu seberapa luas nilai kemanusiaan mempengaruhikarakter-karakter yang ada pada film The Impossible.Sumber data dalam penelitian ini diambil dari film yang berjudul“TheImpossible”. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode observasi. Lalu dilanjutkan denganmenggunakan teknik pencatatan, dan kemudian data-data tersebut dikategorikanberdasarkan teori-teori yang dipergunakan.Data yang sudah terkumpul dan terklasifikasi dianalisis secara kualitatif dandeskriptif dengan menggunakan Theory of Literature yang ditulis oleh Wellek andWarren (1962). Data ini juga dianalisis kembali dengan menggunakan teoripendukung lain, diantaranya adalah: Self Actualization, The Fully FunctioningPerson, dan Personality Development yang diajukan oleh Carl Rogers (1959)Berdasarkan analisis dan pemaparan ditemukan bahwa karakter utama yaituMaria digambarkan sebagai karakter yang protagonis dan dinamis. Selain itu dalamistilah persoalan kemanusiaan, Maria mempunyai kemampuan aktualisasi diri yangluar biasa. Tambahan lain, Maria juga dikategorikan sebagai seseorang yangberfungsi sepenuhnya, hidup eksistensial, percaya terhadap perasaannya, kreatif,dan hidup seutuhnya. Sementara itu, dalam hubungannya dengan pengembangankepribadian diri, dia menganggap dirinya berharga, mampu melihat kebaikan didalam dirinya, dan mempunyai kepribadian yang ideal. Kualitas nilai kemanusiaanyang tinggi ini juga diwariskan ke anak sulungnya, Lucas, sebagai karakter keduadalam film ini.

This paper examines the worldview of Tanzanian poetry in English. It focuses on selected poems of Mabala (1980) entitled Summons: Poems from Tanzania. The study places the poems under Lucien Goldmann’s genetic structuralism approach and argues against the historical context and discourse of Tanzania between 1960s and 1980’s. Specifically, the study analyses the author’s social and historical conditions influenced the production of the Summons poetry and showcases how the author’s worldview in particular poems in general are creatively explored in the social realities. The exploration of worldview in selected poems congruence the social and historical realities and the Socialism ideology [society’s worldview or global structure]. In other words, the exploration of the worldview in the selected poems confirms the homology of the global structure. The poems construct the ideal values of socialist state that seemed relevant in the post-independence Tanzania. They, in one or another provide the historical account for the building of Socialism ideology. They are about and against the ideology which confuse the vision people have of themselves and of their lives and the friction that failed the implementation of Socialism ideology. The study appropriates dialectic method to achieve the coherence of meaning of the text as a whole (poem structure and global structure).

AbstrakStudi ini bertujuan mengungkapkan dan memaknakan refleksi kearifan lokal dalam karya-karya sastra Indonesia sastrawan Jawa Timur beserta korelasinya dengan sosial-budayanya. Dalam studi ini digunakan metode penelitian kualitatif terpadu (library research dan field research) yang dikerjakan secara analitis-kritis dan reflektif. Objek materialnya karya-karya sastra dan sosial-budaya sastrawan Jawa Timur, dengan strategi pemerolehan data dokumentasi dan observasi, serta teknik baca, simak, dan catat. Dalam studi ini ada dua temuan: pertama, refleksi kearifan lokal dalam karya-karya sastra Indonesia sastrawan Jawa Timur menyangkut harmoni antarmanusia dengan alam, kedalaman cinta, kesederhanaan hidup manusia, kesetiaan dan keikhlasan, romantika perkawinan, dan kebahagiaan hidup. Kedua, makna reflektif kearifan lokal dalam karya sastra Indonesia beserta korelasi dengan sosial-budayanya adalah adanya sinergi antara manusia dan alam; tanggung jawab dan kewajiban dalam menjaga, merawat, melestarikan, dan mengeksplorasi alam. Kata kunci: karya sastra Indonesia, refleksi kearifan lokal, sastrawan Jawa Timur AbstractThis study aims to reveal a local wisdom reflection in the Indonesian literature written by East Java authors and to define the local wisdom reflection in relation to their social-culture. This study was analytically, critically, and reflectively conducted in one integrated qualitative method (library research and field research). The data, literature works, were collected through some techniques such as documenting, observing, reading, referring, and taking notes. The findings show that first, the local wisdom reflection in the Indonesian literature written by East Java authors is concerned with the harmony relation between human and nature, the depth of love, the simplicity of a human’s life, the faithfulness and sincerity, the romance of marriage, and the happiness of life. Second, the local wisdom reflection is defined as a synergy between human and nature in which there are some responsibilities like preserving, taking care of, conserving, and exploring the nature. Dalam penelitian ini diteliti komunitas sastra beserta produk yang dihasilkannya. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memahami komunitas sastra yang ada di Indonesia, dan menguak lebih jauh peranan produk komunitas sastra dalam pembangunan karakter di Indonesia. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif- interpretatif, dengan perspektif sosiologi sastra--khususnya kajian dalam keterkaitannya dengan komunitas sastra sebagai lingkungan sastra yang berkapasitas sebagai yang memroduksi karya. Studi tentang peranan sastra yang diproduksi bukan oleh komunitas sastra, sudah banyak dilakukan di Indonesia. Namun, peranan produk yang diproduksi oleh komunitas sastra, belum pernah dilakukan secara spesifik, sehingga belum terkuak peranannya dalam pembangunan karakter di Indonesia. Originalitas penelitian ini, terutama terletak pada peranan produksi komunitas sastra dalam pembangunan karakter di Indonesia.

This study aims to describe the management of tolerance in the culture of a multicultural society. The culture the society studied is the culture of the multicultural society in Indonesia. This research is based on by a hypothetical idea that the village community wisely manages the diversity of local wisdom. The research objects selected were the society of the villages that are Balun-Lamongan, Gilimanuk-Jembrana), and Lingsar-West Lombok. This study uses a phenomenological perspective, with data collection techniques: interviews and observations. From this research, there are three findings. First, the attitude and spirit of tolerance in the multicultural society in the three villages studied have been cultivated in the form of local wisdom values and become the cultural pattern of the society. Second, the communities in the three villages studied showed that their societies had more advanced experience in cultural harmonization in understanding the diversity of socio-cultural realities. Third, the people in the three villages studied used local wisdom in managing diversity which they did not understand as an obstacle, but as a potential to maintain the socio-cultural cohesion of the society.

This paper aims to find a dynamic relationship between the text and the interpreter in the marriage sermon. This dynamic is explored by utilizing qualitative methods with the Gadamer’s Hermeneutics approach, which focuses on the acceptance of listeners or readers rather than the speaker's intent. There are two parties involved in understanding: the horizon of the text and the horizon of the interpreter. Gadamer's hermeneutics illustrates hermeneutics as a fusion of horizons. Hermeneutics is an attempt to clarify the conditions for understanding to take place. Thus, the meaning of the text is no longer limited to the author's intent but is open to the interpretation of the reader. There is a dynamic relationship between the horizons of the text and the horizons of the interpreter. Brides and families receive marriage advice when arranging paperwork at the Office of Religious Affairs, ordering material from the khatib to be delivered during the marriage sermon, and the atmosphere at the ceremony venue supports understanding the horizon of the text with the horizon of the interpreter. Therefore, the fusion of horizons of the text and the interpreter of the marriage sermon from the perspective of Gadamer's Hermeneutics shows the formation of a prosperous, happy, and noble family, in line with the concepts of sakinah, mawaddah, and warrahmah.
