Abstract

ABSTRACT Stomach pain is a discomfort in the pit of the stomach, nausea, vomiting, full satiety, fullness in the stomach, bloating and belching. One cause of gastric pain is alcohol, but some people who consume alcohol and experience gastric pain are unaware if gastric pain is felt by alcohol. The design of this study is retrospective by using correlational study design. The population is a student boarding house RT 03 RW 06 aged 19-27 years with the number of 97 people and a sample of 30 people using the technique Purposive Sampling. Data analysis used is spearman rank correlation test. Results of mild alcoholic evidence of mild gastric pain (30%), mild alcoholic with moderate gastric pain (10%), mild alcoholic with severe gastric pain (3.3%), middle alcohol with moderate gastric pain (10%), heavy alcohol with mild pain (6.7%), severe alcoholism with moderate pain (6.7%) and severe alcoholic pain with severe gastric pain (33.3%). From the calculation results obtained sig value 2 tailed 0,000 where the value of sig

Abstract

Background: Cryotherapy is used as a non-pharmacological adjunctive intervention to support recovery after total knee arthroplasty (TKA). It helps reduce postoperative pain, edema, inflammation, and limited knee movement, which commonly occur during the early recovery phase. Optimal postoperative symptom management is important to support early mobilization, improve functional recovery, reduce analgesic or opioid use, and increase patient satisfaction. Methods: A systematic review of quantitative studies published from 2021 to 2026 was conducted across six databases: PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SAGE Journals, ProQuest, and ScienceDirect. Study selection followed PRISMA guidelines, eligibility criteria were structured using the PICOS framework, and methodological quality was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal tools. Results: Twelve studies met the inclusion criteria. The interventions included ice packs, compressive cold therapy, computer-assisted cooling, motorized cold-compression, preoperative hypothermia, and cryoneurolysis. Most studies showed that cryotherapy reduced postoperative pain and swelling, improved knee range of motion, and supported early functional recovery. Several studies also reported reduced opioid consumption, blood loss, and length of hospital stay. Conclusion: Cryotherapy is a promising adjunctive intervention to enhance recovery after TKA, especially when delivered through structured nurse-led protocols. Further studies with standardized protocols and longer follow-up are needed. Keywords: Cryotherapy, Total Knee Arthroplasty, Postoperative Pain, Edema, Functional Recovery, Nursing Intervention.

Abstract

Background: ciNPT is used to reduce abdominal donor-site complications in autologous breast reconstruction. Optimizing donor-site management is essential to prevent wound dehiscence, surgical site infection, seroma, hematoma, and delayed healing, which may prolong recovery and negatively affect postoperative outcomes. Methods: Systematic review of comparative studies (2020–2026) across six databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SAGE Journals, ProQuest, ScienceDirect); methodological quality assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal tools. Eight full-text studies evaluating ciNPT on abdominal donor-site incisions in adult patients undergoing autologous breast reconstruction were included. Results: ciNPT was consistently associated with reduced wound dehiscence and improved wound stability versus conventional care. Trends toward lower surgical site infection, seroma, hematoma, and complication-related re-intervention were observed, particularly in high-risk patients with elevated BMI or comorbidities. Some heterogeneity in study design and outcome definitions was noted. Conclusion: ciNPT is a promising adjunct for reducing abdominal donor-site complications in autologous breast reconstruction. Further high-quality randomized controlled trials with standardized outcomes and long-term follow-up are needed. Keywords: ciNPT, DIEP flap, donor site, breast reconstruction
