Abstract

This research was a correlation study which aims to determine the correlation between students’ reading habit and their writing ability in descriptive text. There were two variables in this study, reading habit and writing ability. The population of the study were the X grade students of SMAN 2 Batusangkar in the academic year 2020/2021. The sample technique in this research used cluster random sampling from 356 students selected for class X MIPA 2 with 36 students. This study used the Product Moment formula to determine the coefficient correlation and t-test to found out the significance correlation between students’ reading habit (X) and their writing ability (Y). The result showed that the t-observed was (4.01) and t-table was (1.70) in significance level of 5% (0,005), so t-observed was bigger than t-table then Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. Thus, it can be concluded that there was a correlation between students’ reading habit and their writing ability in descriptive text at the X grade of SMAN 2 Batusangkar.

Abstract

The purpose of this research were: (1) to describe type of using code switching and (2) to describe the strategy behind the use code switching made by English teachers in English language teaching and learning at SMAN 1 Padang Sago. This research used descriptive qualitative design. The population were all English teachers in the school who taught English subject for 10th, 11th and 12 th graders in the 2019 academic year . The purposive sampling technique was employed in the research in which the total sampling were all 5 English teachers. Instrumens to collect the data were observation chceklist and interview. In the observation checklist, all teachers’ utterancess were categorized according to the types and strategies of the code switching belong to. To determine the frequency of the type and strategy of the code switching emerging in observation checklist, the numberof the type and strategy that emerged were count manulay. Then, the percentage formula was used. Then, the interview was used to validate the result gained from the observation checklist. Finally, among 110 utterances , it was found there was 4%, of tag switching used by the tecaher, inter-sentential switching was 36%, and intra-sentential switching was 60%,. On the other hand, among 10 strategies of code switching proposed by Hoffman (1991), it was found that the teacher preferred to use only 4 strategies only of which are for scosiisted of expressing solidarity 48%, interjection7%, repetition 28%, and clarification19%).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis (1) Implementasi pelaksanaan Proyek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) dan (2) ketercapaian muatan dimensi sebagai upaya menguatkan karakter peserta didik di Sekolah Penggerak SDN 01 Sarilamak. Tema yang dipilih ialah Gaya Hidup Berkelanjutan pada Fase B. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis dengan teknik interaktif meliputi pengumpulan data, kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu (1) Implementasi P5 di Sekolah ini meliputi mendesain P5, pengelolaan P5, pengolahan asesmen dan laporan hasil P5 serta evaluasi dan tindak lanjut. a) desain P5 terdiri dari membentuk tim, mengidentifikasi kesiapan sekolah, menentukan dimensi karakter Profil Pelajar Pancasila yang ingin dikuatkan, menentukan tema, merencanakan waktu, alur, asesmen, dan membuat modul; b) pengelolaan P5 meliputi kontekstualisasi, aksi P5, serta perayaan hasil belajar; c) pengolahan asesmen dan pelaporan hasil P5 meliputi mengoleksi, mengolah hasil asesmen, dan penyusunan rapor proyek; d) evaluasi dan tindak lanjut P5 berupa penguatan karakter serta melanjutkan kebiasaan yang baik dengan membentuk polisi lingkungan dan membuat bank sampah (2) ketercapaian muatan dimensi pada tahap berkembang sesuai harapan (BSH) dapat terlihat dari; a) dimensi Beriman, bertakwa kepada Tuhan YME dan akhlak mulia ditemukan sebanyak 51 dari 60 peserta didik atau memiliki rata-rata 85%, b) dimensi kreatif ini ditemukan sebanyak 48 dari 60 peserta didik atau memiliki rata-rata 80% dan c) dimensi gotong royong ditemukan sebanyak 54 dari 60 peserta didik atau memiliki rata-rata 90%.

Abstract

This research was experimental research. This research had purpose to find the effect of using RAFT strategy towards students’ writing achievment at grade VIII SMP N 4 Batang Anai. Instruments of this research was writing test. this research used cluster random sampling. Samples of this research were class VIII 2 as experimental class and VIII 3 as control class. Experiment class was taught by RAFT strategy and control class was taught by conventional strategy. Based on the result of research that gotten by post test score. The analysis result showed that the mean score of experimental class was 76.79 with standard deviation was 7.54 and the mean score of control class was 69.43 with standard deviation was 7.39. So, it could be concluded that the RAFT strategy gave significant effect towards students’ writing ability than conventional strategy. It also was supported by the result t-calculated 1.93 > t-table 1.67. So that H1 was accepted and Ho was rejected.
