Abstract

About 40%of heart disease patients do not realize they have coronary heart disease (CHD). Based on the lifestyle of people in Aceh, there are several factors that can increase the CHD risk, such as smoking, coffee, fatty foods, stress, and lack of physical activity. Such a lifestyle has the potential to increase the risk of CHD, as evidenced statistical papers reportinghigh levels of CHD cases in Aceh. This study was aiamed toreview the patients lifestyle with coronary heart disease at Zainoel Abidin Hospital, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. This research is quantitative, with a case-control design. In April 2017, 206 cases of CHD and 206 non-PJK cases were analyzed, using patients medical record and a lifestyle questionnaire, in Zainoel Abidin Hospital. The result of bivariate analysis through a chi-square test showed that lifestyle factors related to CHD included diet, physical activity, smoking, coffee, and stress control (p <0,05). The results of the multivariate analysis with logistic regression showed that smoking is a lifestyle that remains a consistent as a risk factor for CHD. In addition, after interacting with other risk factors, stress control and coffee drinking habits become a protective factor of CHD. Smokers are twice risky to have CHD than nonsmokers. The influence of lifestyle on CHD is also determined by age and income factors. The research implications of this study offer various parties the opportunity to pursue an active involvement in preventive efforts against CHD.Keywords: Determinant, lifestyle, coronary heart disease, Zainoel Abidin Hospital

Abstract

As the main asset of national development, human resource is always used as success indicator of quality development in the country. Indonesia ranked in position 111 out of 176 countries in the world, ranked number 6 out of 10 Southeast Asian (ASEAN) countries. This article aimed at discussing aspects relating to the slow and under development of health sector and efforts to accelerate it. Method used is rational review through literature review and logical thinking. To catch up health sector under development, there is a need for paradigm change from “health for survival” which is oriented toward sick people and prioritizing curative and rehabilitative approaches to “health for human development” which is oriented toward healthy people and prioritizing promotive and preventive approaches. Main assets of a nation include natural resources and human resources, however, human resources is deemed more important due to its role to manage the natural resources. In national development, quality is more important than quantity. Quantitatively, Indonesia ranked fourth after India, China, and USA as the most populated countries, but in term of rank of development index, Indonesia is positioned far below Singapore, Japan, and Korea which are less populated an inarguable evidence of low quality of Indonesia’s human resources.

Abstract

Hypertension is an increase in systolic blood pressure exceeding 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure exceeding 90 mmHg. The long-term impact of high blood pressure can lead to damage to various organs such as the heart, kidneys, and brain. In 2019, 34 percent of the population in Jakarta experienced the risk of hypertension, both mild and severe. Based on data from the Cipayung District Health Center in 2022, hypertension ranked first among the top 10 most frequently visited diseases on a monthly basis. This research aims to study and explain the relationship between lifestyle and the occurrence of hypertension in outpatients at the Cipayung District Health Center during the period of January-April 2023. The study design of this research is cross-sectional. Data collection is sourced from secondary data obtained from the medical records of the Cipayung District Health Center. The population in this study consists of outpatients who visited the Cipayung District Health Center with data collected from January to April 2023, totaling 1152 individuals, and all of them were analyzed. Based on the analysis results, it is known that age, gender, education level, physical activity, and salt consumption significantly influence the occurrence of hypertension. Physical activity is the most dominant risk factor influencing the occurrence of hypertension with an odds ratio of 29.714 and a 95% confidence interval of 19.543 - 45.178. Therefore, it is expected that the health center can enhance health promotion efforts and interventions targeting at-risk groups to prevent hypertension in the Cipayung Health Center area. Additionally, establishing sports clubs and healthy Diet Community Kitchens that can be participated in by the community can be beneficial. Increasing community engagement in healthy living can also reduce the risk of hypertension in the population. Keywords : Hypertension, Physical Activity, Health Center, Cipayung
