Abstract

The study aims to compare the effectiveness of the use of intravenous fluids heating element and heating lamps for post operative shivering. Methods of pre-experimental research studies (static group camparison/posttest design). The sample consisted of 20 people divided into the two group: group of intravenous fluids heating element and heating lamps group. The result of the treatment group heating element intravenous fluids, the time required to stop shivering average of 32,5 minutes, and the treatment group heating lamp until the shivering stops takes an average 50,4 minutes. In the Mann Whitney test, the value of p=0.000. It means that there are differences in effectiveness between the use of intravenous fluids heating elements and heating lamp in which the use of intravenous fluids heating elements are more effective than the use of heating lamps to overcome shivering in patient post operative.

Abstract Autonomic neuropathy in diabetes mellitus impact the feet to losing their natural ability to moisturize the overlying skin, so that the skin of the feet becomes dry, cracked, and prone to infections (ulcers). This activity aims to enable people with diabetes to be able to do foot exercises and cutaneous stimulation with VCO so that the skin moisture in their feet increases. Foot skin moisture was measured by a Skin Moisture Analyzer at ten right foot points before and after four weeks of diabetes people doing foot exercises and cutaneous stimulation with VCO. Average foot moisture before foot exercises and cutaneous stimulation with VCO of 38.93 then increased to 49.55. Paired t test proved that there was a significant increase in foot skin moisture after activity (t = -4.66 and significance value = 0.00). All people with diabetes are advised to continue their activities.Key words: Skin Moisture, Foot Exercises, Cutaneous Stimulation

Abstract

As many as 75 percent of schools in Indonesia are located in disaster risk areas that threaten the safety of school children. The high number of victims in school children is influenced by the lack of child preparedness in dealing with disasters. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of audiovisual media education on the preparedness of elementary school students in dealing with earthquake disasters. The type of research is Pre-Experimental Design with a one-group pre-post design. A sample of 30 students in grades IV and V was taken using a simple random technique. Preparedness data was measured using a questionnaire set by LIPI/ UNESCO/ ISDR in 2006. The results showed that the preparedness of elementary school children before the intervention was given, only 36.7% of students had preparedness with the category of being ready and very prepared in dealing with disasters. After being given education with audiovisual media, most of the students (100%) have preparedness and are very ready to face an earth disaster. The results of the Wilcoxon test got a p-value = 0.00 (alpha = 0.05), so it was concluded that the provision of audiovisual media education significantly increased student preparedness in dealing with earthquake disasters in SD Negeri 1 Lagi Gianyar students. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended for school principals to provide audiovisual media education using existing videos as an effort to increase student preparedness in dealing with earthquake natural disasters in elementary school students.
