Abstract

Cupping therapy is a method that has been known for a long time, especially by dry and wet cupping. Considered to helpdecrease blood levels. To study the effect of therapy on blood sugar levels. Purpose of the study: to determine the effect ofcupping therapy on blood sugar levels at the cupping therapy clinic dr. Abdurrahman Medan City. The design of this studywas cross sectional by comparing pre-test and post-test scores in one group without comparison. The sample is determinedby purposive sampling with a total sample of 44 people. Analysis of the data used the paired T-test. Patients in the cuppingtherapy clinic dr. Abdurrahman Medan City is 26 men and 18 women with the most age range 31 - 40 years. Paired T-testresults showed that there was an effect of cupping therapy on blood sugar levels in cupping patients at the cupping therapyclinic dr. Abdurrahman Medan City with a value of p = 0.001 (<0.05). There is a significant effect between cupping therapy onchanges in blood sugar levels.

Abstract

Cupping therapy is one of the altenative treatments that is widely used by the public. Wet cupping is believed to havebenefits for treating various diseases and can reduce blood pressure. However, there is also several studies that state thatcupping therapy has no significant effect on blood pressure. Therefore, this statement shall be accompanied by carrying outa research to conclude facts about cupping. To know the effect of wet cupping therapy against blood pressure performed atDr. Abdurrahman Medan Health Clinic in 2020. This type of research is descriptive analytic with cross sectional design bycomparing pre-test and post-test values to one group without comparison. Samples size were 44 people who met theinclusion and exclusion criteria specified in the purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the T-paired test. Paired-t testresults showed there was an effect of wet cupping therapy against systolic blood pressure with p value = 0.000 (< 0.05) andthere was also an effect of wet cupping against diastolic blood pressure with p value = 0.006 (< 0.05). Cupping therapy candecrease blood pressure.
