Abstract

A partition on a graph with small number of vertices and edges does not require any complex procedure. Technically, one can find such graph partition by using the eigenvalues of Laplacian matrices given by such graph. The eigenvector corresponding to the second smallest eigenvalue is then used to find the sign of our eigenvector. Later on, these eigenvector is called the Fiedler vector. Furthermore for k-partition graph, we enlarge the concept by finding the third, fourth or bigger eigenvector to obtain three, four or more partitions but in fact there is always used only the second eigenvector.

Abstract

This act of community dedication is aimed to provide video lessons of First Fundamental Mathematics/ First Calculus for the undergraduate students. The videos are free lesson source, accessible anytime and anywhere from Youtube. During the activity, there are a lot of positive responses from the students who are taking the same lessons as provided by the video materials. It can be concluded that the activity went very well and the result is as good as expected. This can be seen from the viewers’ enthusiasm who contribute in discussion on the comment section if they got stuck, appreciating the content, and also the high traffic. The fact that the most viewers are undergraduate students can be seen on Youtube analytic. As for the suggestion, if there is another team who wants to get the better result, it is strongly advised to promote and to share related information regarding the videos massively.

Abstract

Merebaknya pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan terbatasnya ruang gerak di segala aspek. Pembatasan ini menyebabkan banyak perkuliahan harus dilaksanakan secara online. Dalam prakteknya, hal ini menyebabkan kesulitan dikarenakan mahasiswa tidak selalu bisa mengakses kelas online karena satu atau dua hal teknis dan semacamnya. Beranjak dari hal tersebut, penulis tergugah untuk membantu banyak mahasiswa khususnya pada tingkat pertama untuk dapat mengakses pembelajaran dengan lebih mudah. Penggunaan platform youtube sudah sejak lama dimanfaatkan untuk berbagi hiburan, berita, dan banyak informasi lainnya. Demikian pula untuk keperluan pendidikan, terdapat banyak sumber pengajaran yang dapat dimanfaatkan, baik dari dalam maupun luar negeri. Penulis mengambil materi pembelajaran untuk kuliah Matematika Dasar, terkhusus dari referensi Buku Kalkulus Jilid 2 yang ditulis oleh Varberg, Purcell dan Rigdon. Materi tersebut kemudian disusun ke dalam video pembahasan yang dapat diakses kapanpun, di mana pun dan oleh siapapun. Konsep pembelajaran asinkronus sejalan dengan pandangan konstruktivisme yang menekankan bahwa seorang pembelajar dituntut untuk bisa mengkonstruksi ide baru dari ide yang sudah ada. Oleh karena itulah subjek dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah mahasiswa yang sebelumnya tentu sudah memiliki konsepsi konkret yang baik dan tinggal meneruskannya pada konsepsi abstrak sesuai dengan tuntutan di tingkat universitas. Abstract

The proficiency of Indonesian students in mathematics and science remains relatively low, as reflected in the 2022 PISA survey, which ranked Indonesia 69th out of 81 participating countries. This low level of mathematical and scientific literacy has become a major concern in efforts to improve the quality of education. This community service activity aims to foster interest and motivation among senior high school students (SMA/SMK/MA or equivalent) in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology through the organization of the Del Mathematics and Science Competition (DMSC) in 2024. The competition was conducted in two stages: an online preliminary round on November 2, 2024, and an on-site final round on November 9, 2024, at Institut Teknologi Del, coinciding with World Scientiest Day. The implementation method included competition promotion, online participant selection, and in-person contest execution with an objective scoring system. The findings indicated high enthusiasm among participants from various regions of Indonesia, along with improved understanding and confidence in solving concept-based problems. The implications of this activity suggest that science-based competitions can serve as effective platforms to raise public awareness of the importance of mastering science and support national efforts to enhance the quality of education in mathematics and science
