Abstract

Pandemi berdampak luas pada proses belajar mengajar di sekolah. Metode pembelajaran yang dituntut harus mengikuti perkembangan teknologi menjadikan permasalahan yang cukup rumit di kalangan pengajar utamnya guru. SDIT Al Falaah merupakan salah satu sekolah yang sudah menerapkan metode Blended Learning dalam proses belajar mengajar. Akan tetapi masih terkendalam dengan cara penyampaian dan metode pembelajaran yang masih dianggap kurang menarik bagi para siswa. Dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris, terdapat kesulitan yang ditemukan selama proses pembelajaran, oleh karena itu, diadakanlah workhop dalam rangka untuk membantu guru-guru dalam menyampaikan materi pembelajaran. Terdapat beberapa metode pembelajaran yang dianggap efektif dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Dengan mengkombinasi dengan teknologi, dihasilkanlah metode pembelajaran yang efektif sekaligus kreatif agar siswa merasa tidak bosan dan jenuh dalam proses belajar nanti

Abstract

Learning in the Covid-19 pandemic has changed offline learning become online learning. Online learning has several problems for teachers, students, and parents. The covid-19 pandemic in 2020 has had a significant impact in all fields, especially in the education field. Learning English daily conversation through Karysma FM Radio aims to teach students daily conversation and motivate students to deepen their understanding of English subjects outside of school time. The methodology applied in the implementation of community service is observation and the implementing teaching process. The conclusions of learning English daily conversation through Karysma FM Radio are 1) Teaching English daily conversation with students at Karysma FM Radio requires creativity and English language skills; 2) Knowing the psychology of students, it is necessary to invite students to be willing to speak in English daily conversation considering that English subjects are lessons outside of school; 3) The obstacles in teaching English daily conversation with students at Radio Karysma FM are preparation of time and teaching materials

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to describe the translation technique used by Google Translate in translating English medical terms in an article entitled Critical Illness Due To 2009 A/H1n1 Influenza in Pregnant and Postpartum Women: Population Based Cohort Study and to know the translation quality in terms of accuracy and acceptability. This research used purposive sampling technique to select the data. Two methods were used to collect the data; content analysis was obtained to collect the first data from source text and target text and interview and close and open ended questionnaire was obtained to gather data of the accuracy and acceptability. The findings of the research are as follow: there are five techniques to translate English medical terms literal translation, borrowing includes naturalized borrowing and pure borrowing, calque, transposition, and amplification.

Abstract

This thesis is aimed to analyse the types of intrinsic elements and the portrayal of anxiety in Linkin Park’s song lyrics entitled Numb, In The End, Crawling, Faint, and Breaking The Habit. This thesis applied theories from Culler (2000), Childs and Fowler (2006).This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data in this research are lyrics in Linkin Park’s song. The data are performed by categorizing the lyrics to the types of intrinsic elements. The types observed to find out the portrayal of anxiety. The researcher uses document analysis to get the data. In analyse the data, the researcher uses New Criticism. In validate the data, the researcher used triangulation theory.The research findings show that the researcher found 237 total data of Linkin Park song lyrics from those five songs. The data are classified into the types of intrinsic elements which consist of Ambiguity (14 data), Paradox (7 data), Irony (18 data), Tension (150 data) and Imagery (169 data). Of the data, Tension and Imagery types are more dominant than the other types. It portrayed the anxiety about fear, worry, stress, disappointed, sad, confused, and frustrated.

Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang berjudul peningkatan berbahasa Inggris melalui storytelling di TPQ Al Kautsar 1 adalah memberikan pelatihan storytelling agar meningkatkan pemahaman berbahasa Inggris pada santri TPQ Al Kautsar 1. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh santri adalah para santri belum pernah mendapatkan materi storytelling agama yang diajarkan di TPQ Al Kautsar 1. Langkah yang dilakukan adalah melakukan serangkaian kegiatan pelatihan storytelling kepada mahasiswa untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada santri TPQ Al Kautsar 1. Kesimpulan hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat adalah terdapat peningkatan pemahaman berbahasa Inggris dalam memahami storytelling pada santri TPQ Al Kautsar 1. Indikasi peningkatan pemahaman berbahasa Inggris ada 10 santri TPQ Al Kautsar 1 terlihat peningkatan berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat.

Abstract

This research focuses on the analysis of translation techniques applied in translating the figurative language in song lyrics in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam movie and the translation quality in terms of accuracy and acceptability. This research is descriptive qualitative study. The purposes of the research are (1) to find out the figurative language in song lyrics, (2)to describe the techniques used by the translator in translating the figurative language in song lyrics in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam movie subtitle into Indonesian, and (3) to find out the quality of the translation in terms of accuracy and acceptability. This research was a descriptive qualitative study. The data were the figurative language in song lyrics in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam movie. The other data were information obtained from the questionnaire distributed to three raters. The total data of the figurative language in song lyric from the movie were 91 data. The analysis on the translation techniques shows that there are three techniques applied in translating the figurative language in song lyrics in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam movie they are removal of figurative texture, alteration of figurative texture, and identify in figurative texture.

Abstract

This research endeavors to bridge the existing gap in the literature by investigating the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in English education for young learners and its influence on their language acquisition and critical thinking abilities. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study combines quantitative analysis of language proficiency tests with qualitative exploration of student perspectives and teacher insights to unveil the transformative potential of PBL in facilitating comprehensive language development and fostering essential cognitive competencies in young learners. The research findings offer compelling evidence that PBL serves as an effective instructional strategy, holding promise in augmenting language proficiency and nurturing vital cognitive aptitudes among young English learners. These valuable insights contribute to the advancement of educational practices and inspire innovative approaches to language teaching, ultimately empowering young learners to become confident communicators and astute critical thinkers in today's interconnected global landscape.

Abstract

Literature and linguistics stand oppositely. They almost cannot be related, but nowadays Linguistics and Literature can stand in one field of study called Stylistics. From stylistics, literature can be interpreted in linguistic ways and otherwise. This research aims to know the influences of foreground features in the interpretation of modern poems written by Lang Leav (Clocks, Dear Love, and Patience) and analyze the properties of particular linguistic construction metaphors in the three poems. This research is descriptive qualitative research because it analyzed the foreground features, classified the metaphor structure, and described the interpretation of all foreground and metaphors found in the three poems. The source of data for this research is the poems entitled Clocks, Dear Love, and Patience. Meanwhile, the data is all clauses from the selected poems. This research applied total sampling as a technique of sampling data because the population of the sample is less than 100 data.The results found in this research are the foreground features affect the interpretation and could lead to a new perspective that cannot be reached by Literary Criticism and the mapped metaphor in the poems leads to a different perspective from where it first appeared.
