Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the implementation of Two stay Two Stray in teacing reading and students’ responses in teaching reading with the technique of Two Stay Two Stray. The researcher used a descriptive qualitative design in conducting the research. The participant is third semester students of English Department of STKIP PGRI Jombang in academic year 2017/2018. to collect the data the researcher uses a field note, observation checklist and  questionaire. The result shows that Teaching reading by using “Two Stay Two Stray” focused on the students’ center activity and focused on improving students’ skills. Most of the students also agree TSTS influences their ability. It can make them getting easy in understanding the text. In TSTS, the students got many activities in understanding the text. Each activities has special features. The first way concerns to group work and the second way can be group work, pair work, or individual work. Based on the questionnaires given to the students, most of the students enjoy the class well.Keywords: Two Stay Two Stray, Students’ Responses

Abstract

Dalam proses perkuliahan terdapat beberapa strategi yang bisa diterapkan agar setiap materi yang diberikan mampu diterima dengan baik oleh semua mahasiswa. Bagi penyandang disabilitas khususnya mahasiswa tunanetra juga membutuhkan strategi pembelajaran / media pembelajaran yang mampu membuat penyandang disabilitas memahami materi perkuliahan dengan baik. Tujuan dari Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan media pembaca layar pada proses pembelajaran metode penelitian bagi mahasiswa tuna netra di STKIP PGRI Jombang. Media Pembaca layar mampu memberikan kemudahan dalam memahami materi perkuliahan karena media ini memberikan efek suara pada komputer terhadap semua meteri yang diberikan oleh para pendidik dalam proses perkuliahan dan mengerjakan tugas. Peneliti mengamati pemanfaatan media pembaca layar dalam perkuliahan metode penelitian. Subjek penelitian ini adalah Bagus Satriawan, Mahasiswa tuna netra Prodi Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia STKIP PGRI Jombang angkatan 2016. Dari Hasil pengamatan dan wawancara diperoleh data bahwa Media pembaca layar mampu memberikan kemudahan kepada mahasiswa tuna netra dalam membaca materi, mengerjakan tugas dan menjawab ujian semester.

Abstract

Understanding the meaning of any passage is the aim of reading comprehension. This is one of objectives in Reading 2 class English Department at STKIP PGRI Jombang. To achieve a good score on this subject, students must take a test, they have the answers right in performing reading comprehension test, students could make use of test taking strategy. The research describe what test taking strategy used by students of STKIP PGRI Jombang in performing reading comprehension test are. This study was with Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and descriptive. This research consisted of 95 correspondent of the third-semester students of English Department STKIP PGRI Jombang. It uses questionnaire and test as its instrument. The research found there were 7 factors from 28 strategy items accounted for 69.1% cumulative of the variance. They are Option-Selecting Strategies, Question-Rereading Strategies, Option Comprehension Strategies, Answer-Checking Strategies, Option Consideration Strategies, Cognitive Strategies and Clues-Finding Strategies.

Abstract

Reading is a very important activity to get abundant information and add new knowledge. As students, reading activities have a very dominant role because they are required to be more scientific and rational in giving opinions or providing information both in oral and written. Besides, students' attitudes towards reading also have an important role. This study focused on their English reading comprehension and attitudes towards reading in English. This study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between students' attitudes with the result of reading comprehension. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires and reading comprehension tests for students of STKIP PGRI Jombang in the English Education Study Program. The Pearson Coefficient Product Moment is used to determine whether there is a significant relationship between students' attitudes with the result of reading comprehension. From the results found from the SPSS 16 application with a sample of 63 students in the 2019 class, there is a correlation of 0.478. These result indicates that students' reading attitudes are positively related to their reading comprehension. Thus, students must continue to read to improve their English reading skill.

Abstract

This research focuses on the use of Kahoot as a media in teching reading for the English Departement students of STKIP PGRI Jombang in academic year 2017/2018. The method used is experimental research with quasi experimental design. There are two classes, they are 2016 B as the experimental class and 2016 A as the control class. The teaching process done in experimental class was using Kahoot as a media, while in 2016 A was using textbook as a media. The instrument used was a test. Before giving the test, the researchers did the content validity and construct validity by conducting the tryout to know the validity and reliability criteria of the test. After knowing all of them are valid and reliable, giving pre test, treatment, and post test was done to get the data of the research. After that, the researchers analyzed the data by using ANCOVA. The result shows that the significant value is 0.02, it is lower than the significant level 0.05. It means that the use of Kahoot as a media for the English Department students of STKIP PGRI Jombang influences their reading skill.
