Abstract

This study aims to explain how creativity and conceptual understanding and their effects on chemistry education students through the assignment of a pocket book project. The method used was an experiment with a one shot case study design. This implementation was carried out for 20 even semester students of the 2018 Malikussaleh University Chemistry Education study program. The instruments used in this study were the student's creativity assessment sheet (conducted by the observer) and the conceptual understanding test questions (the form of an individual essay at the end of the lesson). The data obtained were then analyzed using a percentage formula and interpreted into a value interval. Based on the results obtained, the average student creativity was 81,33 categorized as good and understanding of the concept was 86. Creativity had an effect on students' conceptual understanding, because through the pocket books provided students could explore all their potential to complete the task. So that it can improve understanding of the concept of each student. For advanced researchers who want to do the same, to further expand the aspects assessed for the assessment of student creativity.

Abstract

Abstract

Since the Government launched the prototype curriculum in 2022, the need for integration of project-based learning models into student worksheets (LKPD) has become very important. In fact, there are still many science teachers in Langsa City who do not use LKPD, especially LKPD based on PjBL (Project based learning). Therefore, the purpose of this service is to provide training and assistance in the preparation of PjBL-based LKPD. The method used is the presentation method and guided exercises in the form of mentoring during the practice of preparing PjBL-based LKPD. At the training stage, participants are provided with 16 meeting hours (JP) of materials related to the concept of PjBL-based LKPD, patterns and standards for the preparation of PjBL-based LKPD. Then in the mentoring stage, the teacher is guided by a service team for 16 meeting hours to compile PjBL-based LKPD, which is guided by aspects of appearance, content, and presentation as well as objectives and conclusions. The results of the design were evaluated jointly through a question and answer response after the results of each group's work were presented.

Abstract

Abstract

Today the electronic learning has developed because in line with the demands of the that sorely on technology. Assessment is one of the important elements in instructional activities and to support e-learning appear the electronic assessment. This study aims to develop an electronic learning chemistry assesment (Element) digital application through project based learning (PjBL) on the concept of applied chemistry. The research method used is the research and development method. The research subjects for the product trial developed in this study were students of the class of 2019/2020 with a purposive sampling technique with a sample of 24 students. This research instrument uses a needs analysis questionnaire, expert validation before and after revision, student response and small-scale trials. The assessment component contained in the application consists of quiz assignments, practical, product, project and final. The validation results were analyzed using content validity ratio (CVR) analysis and each criterion was then calculated the content validity index (CVI) or average value. The results showed that the Element through PjBL on applied chemistry concepts had been validated by material and media experts with an average CVI of 0.9 or the very valid category. The results of the small-scale test of the electronic-virtual assessment for of learning application for students obtained an average percentage of 93.9% with the criteria of "very interesting". Furthermore, the data on increasing students' scientific performance has increased by 0.70 with a high category and is strong effectively used to improve student scientific performance

Abstract

The research about quantitative analysis towards higher order thinking skill of chemistry multiple questions for university admission is carried out in the acceleration class of SMAN Modal Bangsa. This research aims to analyze the test of validity, reliability, correlation between difficulty index and discriminatory power, functioning and nonfunctioning distractors of chemistry multiple questions quantitatively which are frequently offered to students in national university admission. It used a descriptive-quantitative method and purposive sampling technique. Students of the acceleration class were selected purposely because they have been frequently answering the higher order thinking questions. Data were collected using 20 multiple choice questions developed from questions banks. Before questions used for students, the questions were assessed by two validators. The result of the validity test shows that 100% questions were valid with an average scale score of 0.93 (best valid). Further analysis used a reliability test to indicate the correlation of item score and total score of questions symbolized by Cronbach alpha of 0.94, 0.92 and 0.89 for aspect of content, construction, language or culture, respectively. The correlation between difficulty index and discriminatory power was reliable with correlation coefficient of 0.842. The final analysis is done towards distractor function, and it shows that overall 83.75% was functioning distractors. Then, nine questions or 45% met ideal expectations with four functioning distractors. Therefore, the most higher order thinking chemistry multiple questions have good quality or feasible to be used in university admission.    Keywords: higher order thinking, validity, reliability, difficulty index, discriminatory power and distractors
