Abstract

E-learning is the use of information and computer technologies to create learning experiences. The objective of the research was to develop of VINOVAL. The research design was educational R&D as one research design aimed at developing educational products, like curriculum, syllabus, textbooks, instructional media, etc. Moreover, this research implemented quasi-experimental research design to know the efficacy of the product. The subject of the research was eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Trenggalek 2019/2020 academic year which consist of 36 experimental group and 36 control group. The research instruments were questionnaires, test, and interview. The questionnaires and test data were analyzed quantitatively, while interview data was analyzed qualitatively. The product was developed in five steps based on students’ needs, recent theories related to the product, developing the educational product, evaluation from the expert who validates the product and field testing the product. The data was calculated by SPSS 25 and the result of sig. 2 tailed in t-test is 0.000 (<0.05), it means there was significant difference between experimental and control groups. From explanation above means that the product of this research, VINOVAL, was an effective learning media to senior high school students to introduce modal auxiliary material. Furthermore, it was suggested for people who find some benefit of this research.

Abstract

The research was aimed to enhance the students’ reading comprehension skill by using authentic materials. Action research was conducted with two cycles. The research subjects were the fourth semester students of English Language Education Department of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek who took Extensive Reading. The research was done in two cycles with some changes of activity. The result of the research showed there was improvement of the students’ mean score. From making paraphrasing, the students’ mean score of the first cycle was 65.05 and the second cycle was 75.87. The students’ skill of reading comprehension increased by: (1) enhancing the students’ interest to read by using authentic materials, (2) improving the students’ motivation in reading activity, (3) helping the students paraphrase as one of reading evaluation. It shows that authentic materials can be used to help students improve their reading skill

Abstract

The objective of this research was to develop RECTEMA (Recount Text Maze): an educational game to facilitate the eighth-grade students of SMPN 1 Suruh in reading recount text. The design of this research was R&D which aims to develop learning products and is equipped with quasi-experimental to test the effectiveness of these products. The sample of this study was class VII students at SMPN 1 Suruh for the academic year 2020/2021 which consisted of 17 students in class A and 17 students in class B. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and interviews. The results of the questionnaire data were analyzed quantitatively. Meanwhile, the results of the interview data were analyzed qualitatively. This learning product was developed through 5 stages, namely needs analysis based on student needs, theories related to products, product development, evaluation of product results by experts, and product testing in the field. This study uses the assistance of SPSS 25 to process the data that has been collected and the results of the t-test sig. 2 tailed is 0.000 (<0.05), this means there is an effect between the experimental group and the control group. Based on the explanation above, RECTEMA (Recount Text Maze) is an effective product as a learning medium for recount text

Abstract

The research was conducted based on the teaching and learning Extensive Reading on Non-fiction for second-semester students of English Language Education Department of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek. The research was aimed to apply graphic organizer appropriate with the type of non-fiction passage. The graphic organizers utilized in the research were Keep-in-Time Sequence String for Chronological Order passage, Venn Diagram for Compare and Contrast passage and Character Traits for Description passage. The research was also intended to know the students’ comprehension of the passage after the utilization of graphic organizer and their response toward the use of a graphic organizer in learning extensive reading. The students’ comprehension was evaluated by summarization. They were assigned to summarize each passage based on the graphic organized arranged in the previous activity. Meanwhile, the attitude scale was used to know the students’ response during the utilization of graphic organizer in learning extensive reading. The score of the summarization revealed that the students’ reading comprehension was good. The average of their summarization was 81.67. Based on the result of the attitude scale, the students gave a good response toward the utilization of graphic organizer in learning extensive reading.

Abstract

The researcher conducted the research based on teaching and learning Reading for General Communication. It was carried out for the first semester students of English Language Education Department of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek, consisting 50 students. The research was purposed to apply Annotation Text in teaching and learning reading. Annotating text means giving underline, highlight, symbolic notation or code of a text. It helps the students to give notes, key words of important information of a text. The research was also aimed to know the students’ reading comprehension after the annotation text applied and their response toward annotation text in learning reading. Summarization is used to evaluate the students’ comprehension of the text. The students were instructed to make a summary based on the text after annotating it. Attitude scale was utilized to know the students’ responses toward the use of Annotating Text in learning reading. The result of summarization showed that the mean of students’ work was 82.3 Meanwhile, the result of attitude scale indicates that the students gave good responses toward the application of Annotation Text in learning Reading for General Communication.

Abstract

The objectives this research to know implementation of audio storytelling to teach listening skill in class tenth at SMK Negeri 2 Trenggalek. The research design qualitative research and the type is case study because this research based on phenomenon. This research used two instruments: observation sheet and interview. Observation sheet was used by the researcher to observe the teaching activity and interview was used to find in-depth information by the teacher about the use of storytelling as media in teaching activity. Observation sheet consisted of 6 statements based on techniques of teaching audio storytelling and lesson plan. The findings shows that the implementation of learning using audio story telling in listening has met the criteria expected by the researcher. In interview, researcher gave 6 questions to the teacher. The result shows that audio story telling can be implemented to teach listening skill in tenth grade at SMKN 2 Trenggalek.

Abstract

Errors in writing are often made by the writers. It is commonly occurred to the learners of second language. The research aims to know the college students’ error in writing a paragraph. The researcher focused on finding the errors category and cause of the errors made by the students. The subjects investigated were the students of English Education Study Program of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek who joined Paragraph Writing subject. The design utilized in the research was qualitative research. It was included into content analysis during the data analyzed was the document of students’ writing work. The result of analyzing showed that the errors made by the students could be classified into four categories: omission, additions, misformation and misordering. Meanwhile, the students’ errors were caused both of inter-lingual and intra-lingual. Based on the result of the research, it is recommended to the teacher for learning more about L1 and L2. It is also suggested that the other researcher to conduct research with different design of error analysis
