Perfectionist feels him/her self esteem depends on the performance and results achieved. This paper aim to findout the relationship between perfectionism and self esteem in emerging adulthood students. This research is a correlational study using quantitative method of distuting quesionnaires to emerging adulthood in Jakarta area. Perfectionism questionnaire refers to Frost, Marten, Lahart, and Rosenberg, while self esteem questionnaire refers to Rosenberg. The research is using convenience sampling technique involving 429 students. The result of the study shows that adaptive perfectionism has a significant negative relationship with self esteem with r = -0.301, p = 0.000 < 0.05; maladaptive perfectionism has a significant negative relationship with self esteem with r = -0.191, p = 0.036 < 0.05; and non perfectionism has significant negative relationship with self esteem r = 0.424, p = 0.000 < 0.05. So, that the higher types of perfectionism (adaptive, maladaptive, non perfectionism), the lower student’s self esteem. This study also shows that adaptive perfectionists’GPA scores were higher than maladaptive perfectionists.

Abstract

Students who run two roles as learner and worker often face significant pressure because must balance academic demands and work professionalism in time which is stimultaneous. The blend of this double burden can increase the risk of academic burnout, which is defines as condition where students experience condition of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and decrease in academic achievement. Presence of this double pressure, social support can become one factor that can reduce level of burnout. Therefore, this research aims to test the relationship of social support toward academic burnout on students who study while working. In this research got a total of 476 respondents consisting of 204 male and 272 female who are studying while working. Research method used is quantitative correlational non-experiment with non-probability sampling technique. This research uses measuring tool Maslach Burnout Inventory – Student Survey with Alpha Cronbach 0.843 and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support with Alpha Cronbach 0.963. Normality test has been done and got result of normal data distribution. In this research, have tested correlation by using Pearson correlation test method with value of r as big as -0.407 and value of p as big as < 0.001. This result shows presence of significant negative relationship between academic burnout with social support. Therefore, can be concluded academic burnout and social support have relatioship.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between self-compassion and the ability to accept academic criticism among undergraduate students in the Jabodetabek region. A correlational quantitative approach was employed involving 421 active S1 students selected through purposive sampling. Self compassion was measured using the SelfCompassion Scale (SCS) by Neff (2023), while the ability to accept academic criticis m was assessed with the Feedback Orientation Scale (FOS) by Linderbaum & Levy (2010). Data analysis using Spearman’s Rho revealed a weak negative correlation). These findings indicate that higher levels of self compassion are associated with a slightly lower orientation toward actively seeking and valuing academic feedback. The results suggest that students with very high self compassion have achieved strong self acceptance, reducing their perceived need for external validation through criticism. This study recommends that self compassion enhancement programs in universities be integrated with training on actively seeking and utilizing constructive academic feedback.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has facilitated students in completing academic tasks; however, it has also increased the risk of dependency that may affect their critical thinking skills. This study aims to examine the influence of AI dependency on critical thinking skills among university students in Indonesia. A quantitative research approach was employed, involving 408 students aged 18–23 years selected using purposive sampling. AI dependency was measured using the Dependence on Artificial Intelligence (DAI) Scale, while critical thinking skills were assessed using the Critical Thinking Questionnaire (CThQ). The Spearman correlation test indicated a strong and significant positive relationship between AI dependency and critical thinking skills (r = 0.759, p = 0.000). Furthermore, a simple linear regression analysis revealed that the regression model was significant (F = 585.152, p = 0.000), and that AI dependency contributed 59% (R² = 0.590) to the variance in critical thinking skills. The regression coefficient also demonstrated a significant positive effect (B = 0.371; β = 0.768; t = 24.190; p = 0.000). These findings suggest that the higher the students’ dependency on AI, the higher their critical thinking skills. Therefore, digital literacy and proper education regarding the use of AI are needed to ensure that the technology supports the development of students’ cognitive quality.
