Abstract

Abstract

Biology as one of the areas of science, in learning the students acquire a range of learning experiences to understand the concept. One effort to bridge the student activity in order to realize good learning outcomes is through Discovery Learning Model Learning. This study aims to improve the activity and student learning outcomes by using model Discovery Learning on the material in the respiratory system X.IIS.2 class SMA Negeri 2 Tilatang Kamang. This study originated from the fact, that at SMAN 2 Tilatang Kamang learning is often not centered learning, so biology learning process not in accordance with what is expected. The result of study biology is still low with the number of students who have grades below completeness achieve 9 out of 27 students. To solve this problem action learning model Learning.Penelitian Discovery is a Class Action Research (PTK). Classroom Action Research (PTK) is a study that examines the problems that are practical, situational and fundamental. The action taken is real action and dinyakini teacher better than ever. The results showed increased activity and student learning outcomes. Activities that increase is 100% activity observed with very high criteria, information gathering activities of 100% with a very high criteria, discuss with friends 100% with the high criteria, associate 92.59% with a very high criteria, and also mengkumunikasikan 92.59% with very high criteria. But to ask the activity is still relatively low at 37.04%. The results of students in cycle one had an average of 2.81 and an increase in cycle two to 3.02. The number of students who have a value below the limit of completeness in cycle one of 4 people of 27 students, while in the second cycle of all students have a value above the limit set by the thoroughness of the standard curriculum assessment in 2013. Thus the use of the learning model Discovery Learning materials protists system could increase the activity and student learning outcomes in the classroom X.IIS.2 SMAN 2 Tilatang Kamang.

Abstract

The results showed an increase in activity and student learning outcomes. Activities that increase is 100% attention to the teacher's explanation to the very high criteria, read module 100% with very high criteria, ask questions 65% with high criteria, answered questions of students / teachers 74 with high criteria, and work on the problems of Problem Based Learning 100% with very high criteria. Student learning outcomes in a single cycle has an average of 73 and an increase in cycle two to 77. The number of students who have a value below the KKM in one cycle as much as 6 of 31 students, while in the second cycle of all students have a value ≥ KKM . Thus the use of module-based learning Problem Based Learning on the evolution of matter can increase the activity and learning outcomes of students in class XII IPA SMAN 2 Tilatang Kamang.

Abstract

Speaking anxiety can impair nursing students’ ability to communicate effectively in English, especially in academic and clinical settings. This study examines the relationship between speaking anxiety levels and speaking performance among nursing students within a genre-based framework. The research was conducted at a private university in West Sumatra, Indonesia, involving all 33 third-year nursing students through total sampling. Using a quantitative one-group pretest–posttest design, data were collected with the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) and speaking performance tests, then analyzed using Pearson’s product-moment correlation via SPSS 21. The results showed a weak positive but non-significant correlation between speaking performance and overall anxiety levels (r = 0.196, p = 0.309). Further analysis by anxiety categories revealed: (1) a very weak, non-significant correlation among students with high anxiety (r = 0.094, p = 0.772; n = 12); (2) a very weak, negative, non-significant correlation among students with moderate anxiety (r = –0.141, p = 0.698; n = 10); and (3) a moderate, but non-significant, positive correlation among students with low anxiety (r = 0.549, p = 0.202; n = 7). These findings suggest that, although some patterns are identifiable, speaking anxiety does not consistently or significantly impact students’ speaking performance. The study emphasizes the importance of considering individual differences in anxiety when developing genre-based speaking instruction for nursing education.
