Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia adheres to a democratic system of government. Each citizen, on the basis of the choice of ordinary people, chooses free political participation and then changes their direction as a sympathizer. Today, the excitement of political participation in Indonesian society to spread on Aceh has been somewhat hurt because some people have changed the political climate to be bad. This is reflected in the previous political participation side by side to deliver rhetoric to reap the voice of the people, but it has become a competition for each other. The purpose of this study is to find out what types of political participation occurred in constituents in Banda Aceh and West Aceh and who are the actors or groups that weaken or strengthen political participation in the constituents. The research method used is a qualitative approach with informants consisting of key informants, subject informants and non-subject informants. The results showed that the types of political participation in the constituents of Banda Aceh and West Aceh were very different and that sympathizers and political actors continued to strengthen and weaken the constituents. It is expected that this research will be a comparative study of the dynamics of policy in the Aceh region.

Abstract

Southern Thailand has a rich plurilingual background in the context of early childhood education. At home, children generally speak Patani Malay, while Thai serves as the national language and medium of instruction, Arabic is used in religious activities,  and English is taught as a foreign language. This study aims to explore educators' perspectives on plurilingual education at Tadika Mujahedeen, as well as to identify various challenges and opportunities that arise in daily learning practices. The research design employed was descriptive qualitative, involving three educators and one parent as participants, who were selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews and analyzed thematically to examine language use, learning approaches, and their impact on child development. Research findings show that Thai serves as the primary language in the learning process, whereas Patani Malay, English, and Arabic are introduced contextually through child-centered activities such as singing, storytelling, and playing. Educators report challenges related to the linguistic diversity of learners and their limited proficiency in certain languages. Nevertheless, adaptive strategies and cooperation with parents have proven effective in supporting plurilingual learning.Plurilingual education is seen as capable of increasing children's confidence, communication skills, and positive attitudes toward language learning. Overall, this study reveals how plurilingual practices are naturally integrated into daily classroom interactions in Islamic-based early childhood education settings in Southern Thailand.

Abstract

The research investigated challenges faced by English teachers in West Aceh, Indonesia, emphasizing the importance of effective professional development. The focus was on the impact of Classroom-Based Assessment (CBA) and instructional coaching on English teachers' performance in secondary schools. Employing a mixed-method approach with questionnaires and tests, the study targeted English teachers in secondary schools in West Aceh, with a sample of 50 teachers from 25 schools. Results revealed that instructional coaching significantly improved teachers' proficiency in providing feedback, covering aspects like classroom administration and student engagement. Notably, statistical analysis using the One Sample T-test showed a substantial enhancement in English instructors' feedback skills (P = 0.000 < 0.05) through instructional coaching. These findings had wide implications for the professional growth of English teachers in Aceh, with global relevance. The research contributes to the field of teacher professional development by providing empirical evidence on the effectiveness of integrating Classroom-Based Assessment with structured instructional coaching to strengthen feedback literacy among English teachers in secondary education. It also offers a contextualized model that can inform policy design, coaching frameworks, and sustainable professional learning programs in similar developing educational settings. The study suggested that instructional coaching was a powerful strategy to enhance teachers' feedback capabilities, positively impacting student outcomes. Teachers could draw valuable insights from this research to refine teaching methodologies and improve student learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the cross-cultural adaptation process experienced by Indonesian pre-service EFL teachers when teaching English at early childhood education institutions in Thailand and its impact on teaching effectiveness. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach based on Kim’s stress–adaptation–development theory (2017). Purposive sampling technique was used to select eight Indonesian female pre-service EFL teachers based on their experience in international teaching practice. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysed using thematic analysis through coding, categorization, and theme interpretation. The results showed that differences in language and student learning styles were the main obstacles in the early stages of adjustment. However, the participants gradually adjusted their teaching methods by using nonverbal communication, songs, games, movements, and experience-based approaches. This adjustment increased student engagement, improved classroom interaction, and strengthened the relationship between teachers and students. Support from mentors and the school environment also played a role in facilitating the adjustment process. Overall, cross-cultural adaptation contributed positively to the quality of English language teaching in early childhood education. This study shows that pedagogical adaptability and intercultural competence are essential for pre-service EFL teachers when facing multilingual classroom environments in early childhood education.
