Abstract

The geographical location of Indonesia, which consists of islands and is located between the meeting of the earth's plates, causes catastrophic events, such as earthquakes. Lhokseumawe is located in the province of Aceh which is a disaster-prone area because of its geological location. Lhokseumawe has a high potential for earthquake hazards. In disaster situations, education services are often not the main concern even though education is the social sector that is most affected by disasters. Therefore, a high level of preparedness is needed for school students, especially elementary school students who are classified as vulnerable groups to the impact of disasters. The purpose of this research was to determine the level of preparedness of elementary school students in dealing with earthquake disasters. The type of this research is a descriptive with a cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used stratified random sampling with 117 students as respondents..The.results.showed.that.the.level.of.preparedness.of.elementary school students at SDN 9 Banda Sakti and SD Sukma Bangsa Lhokseumawe City in dealing with earthquake disasters was in the moderate category with a frequency of 61 students (52.1%) which included four indicators, namely knowledge about disasters in the medium category with a frequency of 48. students (41%), emergency response plans are in the high category with a frequency of 71 students (60.7%), disaster warning systems are in the low category with a frequency of 55 students (47%), and resource mobilization is in the low category with a frequency of 52 students (44.4%).

Abstract

Health protocol during the COVID-19 pandemic is one of the critical protocols against the pandemic. However, after more than one year, compliance with implementing this protocol is still a shortcoming. The overabundance of information, in particular hoaxes and misinformation, is accused of being the elemental reason why that disbelief exists even after one year apart. The World Health Organization even put hoaxes and misinformation as one of the current world health challenges in the modern era. This study aims to observe the perception of academia at Universitas Malikussaleh towards the COVID-19 pandemic. This study also scrutinizes the depiction of COVID-19 health protocol among its correlation to COVID-19 disbelief. We found that there is a cognitive dissonance among the academia who believe that the COVID-19 pandemic exists. This cognitive dissonance makes their action contradict their belief, in particular, the implementation of health protocol and its benefit to protect themselves and other people.

Abstract

Indonesia encounters substantial obstacles in stroke surveillance, as indicated by Riskesdas, BPJS, and hospital registries. The disconnected and inconsistent data that is gathered from these sources is the root cause of these challenges. When there are inconsistencies in case definitions, reporting, and geographical biases, it is challenging to conduct an accurate burden assessment and develop appropriate policies. The analysis of stroke epidemiology data from 2007 to 2023 in this study reveals significant deficiencies. These deficiencies encompass discrepancies in diagnostic accessibility, underrepresentation in hospital registries, and methodological inconsistencies in national surveys. One of the recommendations is the integration of a National Stroke Registry with BPJS to facilitate real-time data transmission. Additionally, the standardization of reporting through the application of WHO standards and ICD-11 classification, as well as the enhancement of rural documentation through the application of professional development and digital technologies, are additional recommendations. The resolution of these issues would enhance the precision of data, facilitate the application of evidence-based decision-making, and enhance the equity of stroke care in all of Indonesia's numerous regions.
