Abstract

Latrines are one of the basic human needs, it is expected that each individual uses the toilet facilities for defecation. Based on data from the Cipanas Inpatient Health Center as many as 1,502 people have access to 4,237 latrines. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the use of family latrines in the Cipanas Village Cipanas Inpatient Health Work Area Cipanas District Lebak Regency in 2019. The research design is cross-sectional. The study population was all family heads in Cipanas Village, amounting to 1.158 families with a sample of 101 households, where the sample was taken by a simple random sampling method. Primary data collection using questionnaires by interview, while secondary data were obtained from the Cipanas Health Center. Analysis results showed that out of 101 respondents 45.4% did not use latrines, 82.2% had high incomes, 58.4% had poor attitudes, 62.4% did not have latrines, 71.3% had the role of health workers, and 61.4% had community leaders. The correlation analysis shows that there is a significant relationship between attitudes, latrine ownership, the role of health workers (Pv = 0.000), the role of community leaders (Pv = 0.005) and the use of family latrines. Suggestions for this research are the need to increase the knowledge and awareness of family heads in the use of family latrines.

Abstract

The high number of fire cases that occur every year makes fire disasters a serious problem for human life. Emergency Response Preparedness is a combination of methods used in buildings to warn people of emergencies, provide a place of rescue, limit the spread of fire, extinguish fires. The aim of this research is to determine the description and relationship of fire emergency response preparedness, knowledge, attitudes, fire protection facilities and infrastructure and training. This research design uses cross-sectional. The sample was determined based on the accidental sampling method with 85 employees as respondents. The results of the analysis show that 62.4% of employees are alert in fire emergency response preparedness, 51.8% have good attitudes, 52.9% have good knowledge, 62.4% have had training, 55.3% have good fire protection facilities and infrastructure. The results showed that attitudes (P value = 0.00), knowledge (P value = 0.00), training (P value = 0.111), fire protection facilities and infrastructure (P value = 0.00). The suggestion from this research is that it is necessary to improve code blue training on fire emergency response preparedness.

Abstract

Lower back pain is a common health problem encountered worldwide, leading to a decreased productivity and spinal function capacity. The prevalence of lower back pain varies annually with incidence rates ranging from 15 to 45%. This study aimed to identify the relationship between complaints of lower back pain, years of service, length of service, work position, stretching, and exercise habits. The research design utilized a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all tailors at Pasar Raya Block F, totaling 35 tailors with the sample size of 35 individuals selected by using total sampling method. The data were analyzed by using univariate and bivariate analysis through chi-square test. The results indicated a correlation between work position (p value 0.000) and complaints of lower back pain. Whereas, no correlation was found between years of service (p value 0.565), length of service (p value 0.090), stretching (p value 0.070), and exercise habits (p value 0.712) with complaints of lower back pain. Tailors were encouraged to improve their work positions during their daily activities. Further research may explore other factors, such as the addition of seat cushions and body mass index (BMI) that may be associated with complaints of lower back pain among tailors.

Abstract

Waste sorting in temporary public spaces is an important component of environmental health management, yet waste-sorting practices among Car Free Day (CFD) vendors remain suboptimal. This study aimed to analyze the associations of knowledge, attitudes, and waste-bin availability with waste-sorting practices among vendors at X. A quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from May to July 2026 at X. The accessible population consisted of 200 vendors listed in the 2026 CFD vendor roster. The minimum sample size was calculated using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error, resulting in 67 respondents. Sample quotas were determined through proportional allocation across vendor categories, followed by purposive selection of eligible respondents within each category. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire administered through face-to-face interviews and supported by field observations. Univariate and bivariate analyses were performed using Pearson’s chi-square test at a 5% significance level. The strength of associations was expressed as odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Overall, 37 vendors (55.2%) had good waste-sorting practices. Poor knowledge was significantly associated with poor waste-sorting practices (p = 0.001; OR = 10.333; 95% CI: 3.247–32.888). Unfavorable attitudes were also significantly associated with poor waste-sorting practices (p = 0.001; OR = 8.369; 95% CI: 2.553–27.438). In addition, inadequate waste-bin availability was significantly associated with poor waste-sorting practices (p = 0.028; OR = 3.086; 95% CI: 1.112–8.559). The findings indicate that knowledge, attitudes, and waste-bin availability are associated with waste-sorting practices among CFD vendors. These findings support the implementation of practical waste-sorting education and the provision of accessible, appropriate, and clearly labeled separated waste bins in CFD areas. Because of the cross-sectional design, the observed associations should not be interpreted as causal relationships.
