Abstract

This study aims to increase students' interest in learning mathematics. Based on the results of the pre-study, it was found that students were less interested in mathematics learning. This is caused by several factors including (1) mathematics learning so far generally lacks opportunities for students to develop strategic thinking skills, teachers only emphasize students to memorize all formulas or concepts without understanding their meanings, (2) learning is centered to the teacher (the use of lecture methods in mathematics learning) so that students are only used as learning objects, (3) in learning teachers rarely deliver material in real forms but only in abstract form. Therefore the learning series is designed using the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) learning approach to answer the phenomena that occur in pre-research. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. Subjects in this study were students of grade VII-A SMP Negeri 1 Pulau Morotai, North Maluku Province which numbered 25 people. The instruments used in this study were tests and interviews of teachers and students. The results showed that after the PMRI learning model was applied students felt interested and could improve mathematical knowledge and could also increase students' activeness in delivering ideas. For example, students dare to interact and negotiate between students and students and between students and teachers during the learning process. In addition, the PMRI learning approach can also reduce the level of abstractness of students in solving mathematical problems. This kind of thing does not happen to the learning by the mathematics teacher before. As a suggestion for teachers, in mathematics learning teachers should be able to connect the real world with mathematics learning because that can facilitate students to solve mathematical problems, and can increase students' interest in learning mathematics

Abstract

This study aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes on the subject of the addition of integers by using the stick media as a means of solving problems. Therefore, this study uses classroom action research. In this study, researchers tried to collaborate with subject teachers to conduct learning according to the plan that had been made between researchers and subject teachers. The data collected in this study illustrates descriptive, which describes every material that will be collected. The results showed that the use of stick media on the subject of the addition of integers in fourth grade students of SD Inpres Wayabula could improve student learning outcomes. This can be seen from the results of tests before and using the stick media. The results showed, before using the media stick obtained 11 students or 78.57% who failed qualifications, 2 students or 14.28% who were qualified enough and 1 student or 7.14% who were qualified enough. Whereas after using media, sticks were obtained, student learning outcomes in the first cycle, there were 9 students or 64.28% who failed qualifications, 3 students or 21.42% who were less qualified, and 2 students or 14.28% who were sufficiently qualified, and no good student is also very good. In the second cycle there were 3 students or 21.42% who were very well qualified, 7 students or 50% were well qualified, 2 students or 14.28% were sufficiently qualified, 1 student or 7.14% who were less qualified, and accepted 1 student or 7.14% who are qualified fail.

Abstract

This study aims to develop learning media for the stick board on the multiplication count operation material. This study uses a classroom action research approach. In this activity, researchers collaborated with mathematics subject teachers to carry out learning according to the plan that had been designed between the researcher and the subject teacher. The results of this study are presented in descriptive form, which describes the steps taken in each study. The results of the research on the use of stick board learning media on the multiplication count operation material in grade II SD Inpres Sakita students, showed that before using the learning media stick board, 12 students or 70.58% failed to qualify, 3 students or 17.64% who are less qualified, and two of them are sufficiently qualified and good (1 student or 5.88%). But after taking action by developing stick board learning, the results of student learning in cycle I were obtained, there were 1 student or 5.88% well qualified, 2 students or 11.76% sufficiently qualified, 4 students or 23.52% less qualified, and 10 students or 58.82% failed. Whereas in cycle II, 4 students or 23.52% were very well qualified, 8 students or 47.05% were well qualified, 3 students or 17.64% were sufficiently qualified, and the rest (2 students) 5.88% respectively -Each one is underqualified and failed.

Abstract

This study aims to facilitate students to develop mathematical thinking skills in expressing geometric elements contained in the World War II (WWII) museum in Morotai Island Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that describes all student activities in the field (musium) to in the classroom, using the Group Investigation (GI) learning model approach. The results showed that ethnomathematics is good for learning in schools that are close to students' real lives. The results of this study also show that after applying ethnomathematical-based learning using the GI learning model, it can motivate and increase students' activeness and confidence in expressing opinions. From the results of this study, it is suggested, as teachers, they should create an innovative atmosphere that can develop talent, foster interest and educate students to develop mathematical thinking skills, so that the concept of learning mathematics obtained is expected to be better and collaborated with cultural problems so that mathematics is not too far away. from the real life of students, thus mathematics is not seen as a mere abstract science.
