Abstract

Background of this study is an effort to know which technique is suitable to use in teaching speaking. Teaching a foreign language is considered to be one of the most challenging teaching practices. In Indonesia, students are usually afraid of joining foreign language classes. They may feel unmotivated and discouraged easily. Their mindsets say foreign language is difficult to learn because most of them know nothing from the start. Usually, students know nothing how to express what they want to say. Students who have learned English for several years have not been can communicate used English. So the researcher thought that there should be a solution to cope with that problem. The researcher tried to use describing picture as a method to improve students’ speaking skill especially in descriptive text

Abstract

The ability of public speaking is very much needed by cadets in the face of competition in the world of work, so an appropriate method is needed to improve the public speaking skills of cadets, one of which is by using the storytelling method. This study aims to find out the effect of the storytelling method on the public speaking skills of cadets of the Aircraft Engineering study program at the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya. This study uses the design of the Explanatory Survey Method. The results showed that the effect of storytelling on the public speaking skills of cadets was in the high category. This means that more and more cadets in public speaking practice using the storytelling method will have an impact on their public speaking practice

Abstract

Electric power quality problems include line losses, voltage drops, and the amount of inductive reactive power consumed at load so the power factor is low. Power factor improvement in Politeknik Penerbangan Surabaya electrical system to 0,99 is expected to improve electric power quality by installing a setcapacitorsitor called Capacitor Banks that supply capacitive reactive power. Another benefit is that reduces the load on transformer Poltekbang Surabaya which is now approaching full load. To be able to repair the electric power supply is necessary to measure and calculate the inductive reactive power which can be compensated with witcapacitiveie reactive power by Capacitor Bank. After calculating the capacitor bank value, the location of the capacitor bank installation is then determined so that power improvements can be carried out effectively, The result shows that the compensation needed to improve the power factor on Poltekbang Surabaya is 300 kVAR divided into 5steps, each step requires a 50 kVAR capacitor

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed at investigating critical literacy level of multilingual cadets and to know cadets’ responses to the activities designed from a critical perspective. There were 3 cadets of “English Bites”, an extracurricular activity of improving English ability outside the classroom in Politeknik Penerbangan Surabaya (Civil Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya). This study was a case study conducted at the first semester of Civil Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya in 2020/ 2021 academic year. To collect the data, this study used observation, interview, and documentation. The cadets’ written and verbal responses were analyzed on the basis of content analysis. In analyzing data, constant comparative method was used. The findings reveal that the multilingual cadets have higher level of critical literacy than the monolingual student. They are more critical, able to see the text from different point of view. The cadets also give response based on their influence in language ability and their background of culture. In conclusion, to help cadets cultivating a critical competence; critical literacy learning needs to get more attention to be implemented. Keywords: Critical Literacy, Multilingual Cadets, Case Study ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat literasi kritis taruna yang memiliki multibahasa dan mengetahui respon taruna terhadap kegiatan yang dirancang dari sudut pandang kritis mereka. Ada 3 taruna English Bites, sebuah kegiatan ekstrakurikuler peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Inggris di luar kelas di Politeknik Penerbangan Surabaya. Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus yang dilaksanakan pada semester I Politeknik Penerbangan Sipil Surabaya tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Untuk mengumpulkan data, penelitian ini menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Tanggapan tertulis dan lisan para taruna dianalisis berdasarkan analisis isi. Dalam menganalisis data digunakan metode konstan komparatif. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa taruna yang memiliki kemampuan 3 atau lebih bahasa memiliki tingkat literasi kritis yang lebih tinggi daripada taruna yang hanya memiliki 1 kemampuan bahasa. Mereka lebih kritis, mampu melihat teks dari sudut pandang yang berbeda. Taruna juga memberikan respon berdasarkan pengaruh mereka dalam kemampuan bahasa dan latar belakang budaya mereka. Kesimpulannya, untuk membantu taruna mengembangkan kompetensi kritis; pembelajaran yang memfasilitasi literasi kritis perlu mendapat perhatian lebih untuk diterapkan. Abstract

Saat ini Telah di rancang sebuah sistem pengisian baterai otomatis dengan metode BuckBoost Converter (BBC) berbasis solar cell 20W yang memiliki ouput baterai agar tidak overcharge, maka telah dibuat suatu system Buck Boost cotomatis pada pengisian baterai dimana saat tegangan baterai mencapai 13.2 Volt maka pengisian daya akan otomatis dihentikan. Charge akan otomatis diaktifkan. Kestabilan tegangan pada saat proses pengisian dijaga oleh rangkaian BBC menjadi 13 V dengan cara mengatur frekuensi switching pada mosfet BBC yang dilakukan oleh PWM dari mikrokontroler arduino. Tegangan yang dialirkan BBC charger ke baterai diregulasi oleh Regulator pada satu titik tegangan yaitu 13.2 V. Sistem ini dikendalikan oleh mikrokontroler Arduino Uno. Data pada penelitian ini ditampilkan ke user melalui jaringan internet yaitu IoT dengan menggunakan Esp 8266. Pengisian daya serta output dari baterai ke inverter dapat di kontrol dan dimonitoring. Output sistem ini adalah sumber tegangan AC 220 V yang di inversi oleh Inverter 12 V DC – 220 V AC.

Abstract

Abstract Public street lighting is one of the need of today’s society. Every street in residential areas always requires public street lighting. This is because every community activity that takes place outside the home, especially at night definity requires proper lighting. Street lighting is closely related to public safety and security. Community Service Activities (PKM) are condused to address environmental issues. One solution to these problems is to organize a Workshop on electricity netwroks and public street lighting on the slopes of Mount Semeru in Lumajang. The results of this activity, revealed that the provision of PJU lights assisted the community sevice project was titled "Electrical Network Workshop and the Insatallation of Public Street Lighting in Lumajang". Abstract

To meet the needs of small or large scale electricity supply, the use of electrical energy generally uses 1 phase electricity and 3 phase electricity which is used to operate electrical equipment. To be able to find out the voltage, current, and electrical power of the low-voltage distribution network, manual checks are carried out on each R, S, T phase which is on the low-voltage distribution panel. When a 3-phase power failure occurs, it is often difficult to identify which phase is failingSo that in this case it is considered less efficient, for this research is expected to overcome the problems that have been identified. So a tool is made that can monitor failures in the R, S, and T phases which functions as safety when a failure occurs and can display a notification in which phase a failure occurs.In this study, the PZEM-004T sensor, Wemos D1 mini-module, and Android Studio are used which can allow for remote monitoring using electronic devices that have installed applications that have been created. when an error occurs, the "reset" button on the monitoring application is used to reset the protection to restore the device. The current difference in the avometer is 1.48A and the sensor is 1.46A and the current flowing to the load is written 1.88A. The contactor works when the relay receives a command from the Arduino nano with a fast time: 1.60 seconds on the first try, 1.72 seconds on the second experiment, and 1.68 seconds on the third experiment.
