Abstract

A programmable Logic Controller or commonly called PLC is a device that is programmed according to the needs of specific industrial processes desired based on logic (arithmetic calculations in an order), which aims to control and regulate the desired process to produce the desired output as well. This community service activity is intended as an implementation of the field of airport engineering technology which is expected to provide increased skills that can be a provision in the world of work for the trainees. The activity was focused on conducting Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) training for high school students in the city of Palembang. The concept of training is carried out for 1 (one) day using an approach of 30% theory and 70% practice. includes the introduction of PLC systems and programming using ladder diagrams which are expected that students who have attended this training will have skills in the field of automation that can be a provision in entering the world of work. The results of the evaluation showed that the average grade in the practicum was 90.5 (ninety points five).

Abstract

Electric power quality problems include line losses, voltage drops, and the amount of inductive reactive power consumed at load so the power factor is low. Power factor improvement in Politeknik Penerbangan Surabaya electrical system to 0,99 is expected to improve electric power quality by installing a setcapacitorsitor called Capacitor Banks that supply capacitive reactive power. Another benefit is that reduces the load on transformer Poltekbang Surabaya which is now approaching full load. To be able to repair the electric power supply is necessary to measure and calculate the inductive reactive power which can be compensated with witcapacitiveie reactive power by Capacitor Bank. After calculating the capacitor bank value, the location of the capacitor bank installation is then determined so that power improvements can be carried out effectively, The result shows that the compensation needed to improve the power factor on Poltekbang Surabaya is 300 kVAR divided into 5steps, each step requires a 50 kVAR capacitor

Abstract

This study aims to analyze systemm control of wild animals and the process of solving problems of controlling wild animals at Taufik Kiemas Airport, Pesisir Barat, Lampung Province based on public perception. This research was conducted at Taufik Kiemas Pesisir Barat Airport, Lampung Province in August 2022. In this study, the researcher used a descriptive type of research with a qualitative approach. This study uses one data source, namely primary data sources obtained through surveys. The sampling method is purposive sampling. In this study there were 19 people who became the research sample. The data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative analysis which attempted to describe the nature of the problems studied which were carried out in the field at the time of data collection. The results showed that the presence of wild animals such asbobcats, monkeys, wild boars, monitor lizards, snakes, various birds, monkeys and othersin Banfrom Taufik Kiemas Airport, West Coast of Lampung Province. Therefore it is necessary to create a special unit that handles the presence of wild animals at the airport and regulations are needed that are understood by all employees. In an emergency caused by wild animals, officers must understand how to mitigate the risk, so training and socialization are needed in understanding the presence of wild animals at airports.

Abstract

One of the factors that can cause an aircraft accident is the presence of wildlife at the airport. Wildlife can pose a threat to aviation safety if not managed properly. The purpose of this research is to analyze the education strategy for controlling wildlife at the airport as a form of safety management optimization to find out what the inhibiting factors and supporting factors in handling wildlife to get the right wildlife control pattern.  This research method is descriptive research with a qualitative approach where researchers seek supporting data by conducting interviews, observations and some document literacy from the airport studied, namely Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas Airport in West Pesisir Regency, Lampung Province. This research resulted in several findings that there are inhibiting factors, namely the absence of a wildlife hazard control unit at the airport so that the handling of wildlife does not have a planned and programmed standard procedure. However, there are several supporting factors, namely operational officers already know the types of wildlife and the causes of the gathering of wildlife around the airport. Facilities available at the airport such as perimeter fences can prevent and limit wildlife entering the airport from wild boar, monkeys, and apes. Handling of wild birds is done by traditional capture and not by the guidelines. Coordination and communication between the airport and Air Navigation are well-established and mutually supportive of wildlife control activities during operational hours. The results of this study are not only useful for the airport but also for the beginning of the development of further research on wildlife control. This research has a novelty, namely the steps of controlling wildlife at the airport and educational strategies in controlling wildlife as an optimization of safety management.

Abstract

Education is a humanistic process, and its implementation increases students’ competence in higher education. The emphasis on increasing competence is explained through the performance of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum). This research highlights the need for effective learning media, especially in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering courses, which include an understanding of Air Conditioning Systems (ACS). This course curriculum aims to provide a sense of Air Conditioning (AC), including Central AC. However, a lack of learning media in the laboratory requires cadets to visit the nearest airport for practicum. This research aims to design an innovation in creating central equipment learning media designs based on Split AC. This quantitative research method was conducted, with data collection through observation, literature study, questionnaires, and Likert scale analysis. The author determined the population of the Airport Engineering Technology Study Program cadets at the 3rd Batch of the Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang, totaling 22 cadets. This research uses purposive judgment sampling or sampling with purpose or consideration because cadets are considered to understand the problem to be studied. The questionnaire results showed a high need for learning media development, with a mark of 82.3%. Therefore, developing this learning medium is needed to increase cadets’ understanding and competence in refrigeration and air conditioning engineering courses.

Abstract

Cadets are another term for students who are under an official school. In one case, it was reported by the media that there was violence in the parenting pattern of educating cadets. As we know that in parenting patterns between official schools can differ from one school to another. In the official school of character education, the mandatory things that are instilled in cadets include neatness, discipline, responsiveness, responsibility, reliability, and the main thing is ethics. This research explains the suitability of parenting patterns at the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic in order to achieve the achievement of character education for cadets. The parenting pattern at the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic has proven that the parenting pattern adopted by caregivers and coaches makes the cadets of the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic produce tough, disciplined successors to the nation. Proven by analysis using SPSS with data that has been collected from questionnaires distributed to all cadets as a survey of the parenting patterns of cadets at the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic.

Abstract

This design aims to increase the preparedness of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles in supporting operations at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport by creating a website-based preventive maintenance application. This research was based on initial observations on the effectiveness level of preventive maintenance systems for operational vehicles that still apply conventional systems so that they are prone to human error. The research and development method was used in this study, including stages namely potential issues, information gathering, product design, product validation, product repair, product trial, and product revision. This study shows that the validation carried out obtained an average percentage of 81.5% with a very decent category. Based on the research results and discussion, it can be concluded that the website-based PMCSS application is effective in supporting ARFF operational vehicles at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

Abstract

Increasing awareness of the importance of environmental conservation has encouraged the development of eco-design concepts in various fields, including air transportation infrastructure. The main focus of this research is to propose an eco-friendly terminal building design for airports using the Eco Airport Design approach. The research will involve case studies of specific airports to investigate the potential and challenges of applying eco-design principles in airport terminals. The research methods used will include observation, environmental data analysis, and the study of related literature. This research aims to develop design guidelines and recommendations that promote energy efficiency, waste reduction, use of eco-friendly materials, layouts that utilize natural air and light, and improve the environmental quality around the airport. The results of this research are expected to significantly contribute to environmental protection efforts in the context of air transportation infrastructure, particularly airport design for tertiary categories or those serving up to one million passengers per year.
