Abstract

This descriptive study was conducted from April 2015 to September 2016 which was aimed at investigating the competency profiles of PPG SM3T participants using workshop. It applied total sampling technique which involve 17 teacher candidates of PPG SM3T-UR. The parameters in this study were the competence which covers 8 aspect: pedagogical knowledge PK (Lesson plan, Student worksheet, Teaching materials, Instrument assessment); Conten knowledge CK (formatif test, local test and national test) and pedagogical content knowledge PCK (peerteaching). The data were gathered by means of observation sheet, porthpolio, and test. The data analysis was conducted by determining the mean scores, percentage which were tabulated, histogram and then descriptively analyzed. The findings demonstrated that the participants’ competence were categorized pedagogical content knowledge (PCK)  into very good level attained the mean scores peerteaching  (88.59), and pedagogical knowledge (PK) the mean scores (81- 85) which were categorized into good level. Content knowledge (CK) the mean scores formatif test, local tes and national test were 78,94; 78,44; 71, 86 which were categorized tendency to be into good level. aspect PK and CK that owned tendency determine for PCK. Whereas, the only aspect (PK) which had formatif test tendency to decline in the cycle-1. The other five cycle had tendency to increase. This study concluded that  the workshop was fully evident to develop the good PK, CK were contribution for PCK of the PPG SM3T-UR’s participant

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Guided Inquiry (GI) learning model with Thingking Empowering By Questioning (TEQ) on student cognitive learning outcomes. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest posttest control group design. The population of this research was the students of class XI MIPA SMAN 3 Dumai in the academic year 2018/2019. Sampling method was done using random sampling techniques to get experiment and control class. The parameters measured were cognitive learning outcomes and the instrument used was an objective test. The data analysis technique for testing hypotheses was independent t-test. Data analysis showed sig ˂ 0.05 then H0 was rejected, this shows that student learning outcomes with the Guided Inqury model with Thingking Empowering By Questioning were significantly different from student learning outcomes with conventional models. Student learning outcomes using the Guided Inqury learning model with Thingking Empowering By Questioning are better than student learning outcomes using conventional learning. The average value of student learning outcomes in the experimental class was 81.82 while the control class was 61.29. The average N-gain of the experimental group was 0.70 with a high category and the control group was 0.38 with a moderate category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning journals with Problem Based Learning (PBL) models on the metacognitive abilities of class X students of SMAN on environmental pollution material. This type of research was quasi-experimental research. The study population was all students of class X SMAN as a hypothetical population. The research sample consisted of 72 students consisting of 36 students in class X MIPA 2 as an experimental class and 36 students in class X MIPA 5 as a control class. Data collection used questionnaires and description problems. Validation used in the form of content validation and empirical validation. The analysis technique used the One Way Anova test analysis. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion show that the use of learning journals with problem based learning models has a very significant effect on students metacognitive abilities in biology learning at SMAN 2 Pekanbaru. The magnitude of the value of the analysis of the average score of the metacognitive abilities of the experimental class in the very good category is 125.53 while in the control class in the good category is 107.43. This shows the metacognitive ability of students who follow the use of learning journals with problem based learning models is better than students who follow conventional learning.

Abstract

The problem that is often found in the field is that poorly trained students thinking critically because learning is still teacher-centered. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using inquiry-based handouts on students critical thinking abilities. The design of this study was experimental design with pretest and posttest group control design methods. It was by looking at the students ability to answer the pretest and posttest question sheets that contain critical thinking indicators such as analyzing, synthesizing, connecting, concluding, evaluating, and creating. The results of this study show that the students critical thinking skills for the group given the handout showed that they met good criteria, that is the average score above 75. Meanwhile, students critical thinking skills in the class or group of students who were not given handouts were still not more than 50. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the handouts

Abstract

This study aims to determine differences in increasing student interest in the learning process through integrated science learning based on Webbed Model. The basis of this research was the students low interest in the learning process as a result of the implementation in natural science learning that is not in accordance with the mandate of the 2013 curriculum. The research method was a quasi-experiment with a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. Data collection techniques were questionnaires for students interest in learning based on predetermined indicators. While data analysis techniques, which were in the form of descriptive analysis and statistical analysis, were using the Independent Sample T Test. The results showed that an increase in student interest in learning through integrated science-based Webbed Models by 2.9% with a very good category. Furthermore, based on statistical tests the fcount is 10.813 > ftabel 0.40 and 0.315 was obtained with a significance value of 0.04. Thus, it can be concluded that there are some differences in student interest in learning through integrated Webbed Model-based science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop e-modules through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The type of this research was development research with the ADDIE model. The trial subjects were students of SMAN 1 Seberida. The research instruments were observation, interview, media expert validation questionnaire, material expert, biology teacher validation, student and student response questionnaire. Qualitative data analysis techniques in the form of qualitative descriptive observations and interviews and presented at the analysis stage, suggestions from media expert validators, materials, biology teachers, student and student responses were carried out descriptively and qualitatively and presented in the development stage. While the score of the biology teacher validation questionnaire was carried out using Descriptive statistics by presenting data through tables. The validation results of media experts, material experts and biology teachers on the e-module were 3.63, 3.62 and 3.71, respectively with valid category. The results of student and student response analysis obtained an average score of 89.98 and 87.7 which are categorized as very practical. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the electronic module with the Kvisoft flipbook maker is suitable for use as learning material and can be tested in direct learning.

Abstract

This study is aimed for developing an electronic module (e-module) on the material of circulation system based on learning cycle 8e. This type of research and development used the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model. The used research instruments were interview sheets and validation questionnaires. The e-module was validated by three experts and the validated aspects were included aspects of didactic, construction and technical. The obtained data were analyzed quantitatively and described descriptively. The results of the study found that the didactic aspect obtained  the highest validity value of 96.15% in the II learning material. While the construction aspect found the highest validity value in learning material III was 95.63%. In the technical aspect, the highest score was obtained in learning material III of 93.75%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the e-module circulation system based on learning cycle 8e has good quality and can be used in learning activities.

Abstract

Distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has encountered various challenges. Some of those include uneven internet connectivity, inadequate facilities, and an unsupportive learning environment. Those challenges gradually decreased students' learning motivation and result in learning loss. Their motivation could be influenced by several factors, including self-efficacy and self-resilience. This research aims to determine the extent to which self-efficacy and self-resilience influence learning loss compared to other factors. To achieve this goal, a quantitative approach and survey methods were applied in this cross- sectional research by using biology education students at Riau University as subjects. Its findings indicate a significant simultaneous influence of self-efficacy and self-resilience on students' learning loss. Facility disparities, unstable internet conditions, short learning time, and low interaction between instructors and students are among the factors causing learning loss in students during the distance learning. The conclusions that can be drawn from this research are learning loss is influenced by various factors, including self-efficacy and resilience. This study highlights that the low levels of self-efficacy and resilience observed in students are a result of the declining motivation for learning during remote education.
