Students' understanding of concepts is a very important factor in the success of learning. But in reality, Indonesian students' conceptual understanding is still low. The factor of low understanding of students' concepts is because students are not actively involved in problem solving activities. Student involvement can be trained by using one of the communication tools in the form of interesting learning videos to get students' attention in learning activities. This research is a survey research as a first step in developing problem solving learning videos. The benefit of this research is to find out what students currently need in science learning and how much students need to develop problem solving based learning videos. The subjects used in this study were junior high school students with a sample size of 48 students selected based on a region. This needs analysis includes 4 indicators, namely a) analysis of learning problems; b) analysis of learners; c) analysis of objectives; d) analysis of settings. Based on the results of this study, information was obtained that the development of problem solving based learning videos was feasible to be developed as a science learning media to train students' conceptual understanding in the city of Pekanbaru

This study aims to determine the effect of learning journals with Problem Based Learning (PBL) models on the metacognitive abilities of class X students of SMAN on environmental pollution material. This type of research was quasi-experimental research. The study population was all students of class X SMAN as a hypothetical population. The research sample consisted of 72 students consisting of 36 students in class X MIPA 2 as an experimental class and 36 students in class X MIPA 5 as a control class. Data collection used questionnaires and description problems. Validation used in the form of content validation and empirical validation. The analysis technique used the One Way Anova test analysis. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion show that the use of learning journals with problem based learning models has a very significant effect on students metacognitive abilities in biology learning at SMAN 2 Pekanbaru. The magnitude of the value of the analysis of the average score of the metacognitive abilities of the experimental class in the very good category is 125.53 while in the control class in the good category is 107.43. This shows the metacognitive ability of students who follow the use of learning journals with problem based learning models is better than students who follow conventional learning.

The rapid growth of Indonesia's population has resulted in increasing national energy needs which require alternative energy. Alternative energy that can be made is briquettes by producing biomass waste. The purpose of this study was to obtain the quality of charcoal briquettes from kolang forth skin waste using a mixture of starch and sago flour as an adhesive. In this study there were tests for water content, ash content, heat and density. The completely randomized design (CRD) method was used in this study, with 5 treatments and 3 replications. Obtained research results using kolang forth shell waste can be used to make charcoal briquettes. Average water content and ash content comply with SNI 1-6235-2000. The best water content value was found in treatment E (0% starch adhesive : 30% sago adhesive) which was 3.8%. The best ash content value was found in treatment A (30% starch adhesive: 0% sago adhesive) which was 5.87%. The calorific value did not meet SNI but met Japanese standards and the best treatment results were found in treatment C (15% starch adhesive: 15% sago flour) which was 5,470 cal/gr. Meanwhile, the density values do not meet SNI but meet British standards for all treatments. The best density value was found in treatment A (starch adhesive 30: sago adhesive 0) which was 0.84%.

In order to improve the quality of the learning process and improve high order thinking skills (HOTS), education is required to continue to develop. One of the tools for the learning process and a solution for education is by using the media. Adobe After Effects-based motion graphics media can be used by teachers in the learning process. This study aims to develop and produce Motion Graphic media based on Adobe After Effects in an effort to improve High order thinking skills (HOTS) during the pandemic. The research consists of 3 stages, namely analysis, design and development. Methode of research is Research and Development (RD), using the ADDIE Model. The analysis phase is carried out by observation and interviews using a google form questionnaire and the design and development phase is carried out by utilizing various software. The results of the analysis phase of the study showed that 64.3% of students thought that the material for the coordination system was difficult to understand. The design stage begins with making a storyboard in accordance with the curriculum of 2013 and indicators of student achievement in the coordination system material, followed by making Motion Graphic Video using Adobe Effects software in accordance with the storyboard that has been made. The media generated from this research can be developed and tested further.
