Abstract

The synthesis of p-t-butylcalix[6]arene (PK[6]A) and calixresorcinarene derivative compounds, namely C-para-dimethylamino-phenylcalix[4]resorcinarene (CPDAK[4]R) and C-4-hydroxy-phenylcalix[4]-resorcinarene (CHK[4]R), had been carried out by grinding technique. The grinding technique was done with the absence of solvents so that it minimized the waste. Synthesis occurred through electrophilic substitution reactions with KOH as an alkaline catalyst and p-toluene sulfonic acid as an acid catalyst. The three calixarene products were in the form of crystalline solids with a melting point of more than 300°C, insoluble in water with yields of 62.58; 61.94 and 97.49%, respectively. Product characterization using FTIR analysis showed the vibration of the methylene bridge (-CH2-) at a wavenumber of 1473.62 cm-1 and LC-MS analysis for (PK[6]R) showed that the molecular weight was 974.77 g/mole. While the analysis of (CPDAK[4]R) and (CHK[4]R) with 1H NMR showed the presence of protons from the methine bridge (-CH-) that appear at the chemical shift of  4.950 and 3.078 ppm.

Abstract

Synthesis of menthyl vanilate compound has been carried out and its application asperfume. The synthesis was carried out through oxidation of vanillin using Tollens reagentfollowed by esterification of vanillic acid with menthol. The result of oxidation process wereanalyzed for melting point and characterized using FTIR. Esterification of vanillic acid usingmenthol was carried out by addition of SOCL2 reagent. The synthesized compound wascharacterized using FTIR and Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H-NMR) and followedby organoleptic test. Melting point of vanillic acid is 212oC. Identification of vanillic acidwith FTIR is shown that the absorption of C-H aldehyde at wave numbers 2850 and 2750 cm -1 is absence indicating that the aldehyde group of vanillin has been oxidized completely.Esterification of Vanillic acid using menthol with the addition of SOCl2 produces anirreversible reaction and obtained a brown liquid which is mentil vanilat ester compound.Synthesis of menthyl vanilate compound was obtained with yield 48.05%. Identification ofmenthyl vanillate with FTIR showed the absorption of C-O (from Ester) at wave numbers1219 and 1180 cm-1. Identification with 1H NMR showed the peak at chemical shift 0.74-2.16 ppm which is absorption of proton from the substituted menthyl group. Based on theresult of identification using FTIR and 1H NMR spectrophotometers can be concluded thatmenthyl vanillate compound has been successfully synthesized. The result of organoleptic testshowed that 95% of respondents agree that the compound is fragrant, 100% respondents agreethat the the aroma of compound is sharp, and 75% of respondents like the product of thesynthesized compound to be perfume.

Abstract

Kulit umbi bawang putih yang sering kali diabaikan, sebenarnya mengandung sejumlah nutrisi dan senyawa bioaktif yang memiliki potensi kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak kulit umbi bawang putih (Allium sativum Linn.) menggunakan berbagai pelarut yaitu aseton, etanol, dan metanol. Ekstrak kulit umbi bawang putih diperoleh dengan cara maserasi. Uji kelompok senyawa dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan metode fitokimia sementara uji aktivitas antioksidan pada ketiga ekstrak dilakukan menggunakan metode CERAC (Cerium (IV) ions reducing antioxidant capacity) dengan asam askorbat sebagai pembanding. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa dalam ketiga ekstrak kulit umbi bawang putih terdapat senyawa metabolit sekunder dari jenis alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, tanin, dan steroid. Ketiga ekstrak terbukti dapat mereduksi ion serium (IV) menjadi ion serium (III). Adanya kemampuan pada ketiga ekstrak untuk mereduksi ion serium (IV) menunjukkan bahwa ketiga ekstrak mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan. Berdasarkan nilai IC50 (Inhibition Concentration 50%) yang diperoleh, diketahui bahwa ekstrak aseton merupakan golongan antioksidan yang kuat, sedangkan ekstrak etanol dan metanol merupakan golongan antioksidan yang sangat kuat.

Abstract

Assistance for halal certification for Micro Small Businesses of Wonolelo Bantul leather rambak crackers has been carried out in order to support the acceleration of halal product guarantees as mandated by Law No. 33 of 2014. Micro and small business actors (MSEs) are the largest producers of food and beverage products that are subject to mandatory halal because of the increasing number of MSE commodities. The assistance method is carried out by providing socialization and education carried out in groups and individually, followed by discussion and interpretation of the identification results during the assistance process. The results of the assistance obtained that10 business actors in Cegokan, Wonolelo Bantul who were assisted to obtain halal certificates generally met the criteria for halal product processes in accordance with the provisions of the SJPH (Halal Product Guarantee System). Business actors have understood and followed the provisions in applying for halal certification. However, rambak  cracker products still have difficulty getting raw materials from halal-certified slaughterhouses. The supply of raw materials is temporarily obtained from collectors, making it relatively difficult to follow the principle of tracebelity.

Abstract

Acetyl vanillate was synthesized to become an analgesic compound was conducted in two stages.The first stage is oxidation vanillin using Tollens reagent. The result of the oxidation wascharacterized by melting point and FTIR. The second stage, vanillic acid was acetylated usingacetic acid anhydrous under two conditions, that are acid and base using H2SO4 and NaOH 10%,respectively. Two difference products from those processes were characterized using FTIR and1H-NMR. The result of the melting point vanillic acid test showed 204°C and the standard is210°C. Vanilline was successfully oxidized, based on comparison FTIR spectra between vanillineand its precursor that showed no functional group of C-H aldehyde at 2,700-2,800 cm-1. Thecharacteristics FTIR spectra under base conditions showed no absorption of functional group ‒OHthat substituted by an acetyl group. So that, the base catalyst indicated no product of the expectedcompound. The product under acidic compounds have the characteristic yellow crystals with amelting point of 130°C. Characteristics of FTIR showed no width absorption at wave number 3400cm-1 and evidenced by 1H-NMR spectra. Shift peak at 2.342 ppm was an absorption acetylcompounds. It was concluded that acetylation of acetyl vanillate compounds under acidicconditions to produce the expected product.Keywords: vanilin, vanilic acid, acetylation

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui potensi senyawa poli-monoaliloksi-kaliks[6]arena (PMK[6]H) sebagai antidotum keracunan logam berat dengan melihat ketoksikan akut (LD50) dan menilai gejala klinis akibat pemberian PMK[6]H pada mencit jantan dan betina. Penelitian ini mengikuti rancangan acak lengkap dengan menggunakan mencit jantan dan betina galur Balb/C, sehat, umur 2-3 bulan dengan berat sekitar 20 gram. Percobaan terdiri dari 5 kelompok mencit jantan dan 5 kelompok mencit betina @ 5 ekor (satu kelompok sebagai kontrol). Tiap kelompok dosis uji diberikan PMK[6]H dengan 4 tingkat dosis uji (260; 130; 65; 32,5 mg/kgBB). Dilakukan pengamatan gejala klinis dan jumlah kematian yang terjadi pada hewan uji pada 3 jam pertama pemberian bahan uji hingga 24 jam, kemudian pengamatan dilanjutkan hingga 14 hari untuk menentukan nilai LD50. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian dosis tunggal bahan uji tidak memberikan pengaruh terhadap gejala-gejala klinis yang timbul dan tidak menunjukkan gejala-gejala aneh timbulnya keracunan. Pemberian dosis tunggal bahan uji pada mencit jantan dan betina juga tidak menimbulkan kematian pada seluruh kelompok perlakuan. Diperoleh nilai LD50 dari PMK[6]H > 260 mg/kgBB untuk mencit jantan dan betina. Hasil analisis ANOVA terhadap perbedaan berat organ mencit baik jantan maupun betina, secara umum memberikan hasil bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang bermakna dari berbagai berat organ vital dari 5 kelompok perlakuan yang ada. Dengan demikian senyawa PMK[6]H cukup aman untuk digunakan sebagai antidotum keracunan logam berat.

Abstract

Mortality due to ischemic stroke has increased significantly, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Preventive measures are urgently needed to reduce the severity of ischemic stroke, which is mainly caused by blood vessel blockage due to increased secretion of angiotensin II (ANG II) by angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). This study investigated the potential of eugenol and its derivatives as ACE inhibitors using molecular docking, an in silico approach for drug discovery by using PLANTS software. The results showed that several eugenol derivatives, including (E)-1-(2-(4-allylphenoxy)acetyl)-4-cinnamoylthiosemicarbazide, exhibited potent ACE inhibition, with docking scores comparable to the native ligand (lisinopril) and superior to several commercial drugs. Physicochemical evaluation revealed that derivatives such as 5a, 5b, 7, and 9a had favorable molecular weight, total polar surface area, and lipophilicity (log P), thereby enhancing their permeability and bioavailability. Drug-likeness analysis confirmed that the compound meets several criteria, including Lipinski, Pfizer, and Golden Triangle rules, highlighting its potential safety and efficacy. Key binding interactions, including hydrogen bonds, hydrophobic interactions, and electrostatic interactions in the ACE active site, further support its candidacy as an ACE inhibitor. These findings suggest that eugenol derivatives are promising candidates for the development of therapies targeting ischemic stroke through ACE inhibition.

Abstract

Clove leaf oil from Samigaluh, Kulon Progo has high Fe content and low eugenol content due to an ineffective distillation process. This study aims to analyze the ability of lime juice as a purifying agent in reducing iron content through complexometry, varying the concentration of lime juice (2%, 3%, and 4%) and stirring time (30, 60, and 90 minutes) on 50 mL of clove leaf oil mixed with 50 mL of lime juice. Eugenol isolation was performed using KOH-H2SO4 extraction. Testing was also conducted on eugenol content, acid number, refractive index, specific gravity, and antioxidant activity using DPPH. Sample testing was performed using AAS, GC, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Optimal conditions were obtained at a lime juice concentration of 4% with 60 minutes of stirring, which successfully reduced Fe content from 17.6 to 1.7 mg/kg, increased eugenol content from 75.908% to 78.730% at a lime juice concentration of 3% and 90 minutes of stirring, reducing the acid number from 1.82 to 0.94 mg NaOH/g, increasing the refractive index from 1.331 to 1.529, and increasing the specific gravity from 1.020 to 1.036. Further redistillation with KOH and H2SO4 increased the purity of eugenol to 96.476% with strong antioxidant activity (IC50 57.45 ppm).
