Abstract

Creative thinking is one of the competencies needed in the Industrial Revolution 4.0, where change is very dynamic, so it must be balanced with an irregular way of thinking. This study analyzes the effect of the project-based learning models on the STEM approach to creative thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes. The population was grade VII students of SMP PGRI 6 Denpasar in the 2019/2020 school year. The sample of the experimental class and the control class used the random sampling technique. The experimental class was given treatment with a project-based learning model based on the STEM approach, while the control group used a conventional project-based learning model. Data on creative thinking skills were collected using a questionnaire, and data on mathematics learning outcomes were collected using essay tests. Data were analyzed using the Manova test. The results of the study: there is an effect of the STEM approach-based project-based learning model on creative thinking skills; there is an effect of project-based learning model based on STEM approach on mathematics learning outcomes; there is an effect of the project-based learning model based on the STEM approach together on creative thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability in the real world is the main competency that students must possess in the 21st century. RME can bridge abstract mathematical concepts obtained in the classroom with the real world. This research is a meta-analytic study aimed at analyzing the effect of the RME learning model on problem-solving abilities. The data was obtained from a search of scientific articles that have been published in Science and Technology Index (SINTA) 2, 3, and 4 accredited journals and national proceedings in the period 2016-2021 and is an experimental study with a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group design. The research samples that matched the exclusion and inclusion criteria were seven units. The data were analyzed using the JASP V-0.11 application. The results of the heterogeneity test with a value of Q=10.277 and p=0.1130.05. The combined effect size model used is the fixed effect model. The results showed that the average effect size was 0.42 in the medium effect category. The Funnel Plot and Egger's Test tests with a value of z=0.075 and p=0.9400.05 indicated no publication bias. In conclusion, the RME learning model affects students' mathematical problem-solving abilities with moderate influence. The results of this study contribute to strengthening the findings of previous studies.

Abstract

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) approach in mathematics learning is very suitable for improving higher-order thinking skills. However, the ability of teachers to develop authentic assessment models based on the STEM approach is still low. This study aims to develop an authentic assessment model suitable for learning based on the STEM approach in mathematics at Senior High School. This study used a Research & Development design adapted from the Borg & Gall model. Data were collected using a validation sheet and a questionnaire. The data source was 269 teacher respondents selected using multistage random sampling technique, while two experts from higher education as validators and 21 senior high school math teachers experienced as panellists were determined by purposive sampling technique. Data were analysed through a quantitative approach. The product of this research is an authentic assessment model consisting of twenty project tasks. The results of the analysis show that 16 project tasks with very good quality and four project tasks with good quality, declared appropriate and in accordance with the STEM approach-based learning.

Abstract

HOTS learning is learning in the cognitive domain of analyzing, evaluating, and creating. This study aims to determine the development steps and quality of digital mathematics teaching materials for class X SMA HOTS oriented on the material of a three-variable linear equation system. This research and development procedure uses an adaptation of the Plomp model, with the following steps: initial investigation, design, realization/construction, and test, evaluation and revision. Sources of research data are validators and high school mathematics teachers. Research data collection techniques using a questionnaire. The results of the initial validity test were declared "valid", with a material validity value of 0.72, language validity 0.92, and media validity 0.87. The results of the final stage of the validity test were declared "valid", with a validity value of 0.95. In the quality test, HOTS-oriented digital teaching materials were declared to have "good quality", with the result that all indicators on aspects of content, presentation, language, and media obtained an average score in the range of 9-10 on the Thurstone scale, the value of the interquartile range which is small below 2 and the mode value is close to 11 on the Thurstone scale.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills and learning models can affect learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the comparison of student learning outcomes with high and low critical thinking skills that adjust the application of problem-solving or conventional. The population in this study were students of class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 8, and the research sample used a percentage of 27% below and above from the research population. The research instrument was a test of critical thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes. The data obtained were analyzed using 2-way Anova analysis. The results of the study show that: (1) there is a comparison of the average learning outcomes between students who use problem-solving education models with conventional (mean 75.91 and 50.68), (2) there is an interaction between learning models and critical thinking skills on mathematics learning outcomes (Sig. 0.031 with = 0.05), (3) to students with high critical thinking skills, there is a comparison of learning outcomes between students who use problem-solving models with conventional (Qcount 7.80 with = 0.05), ( 4) for students with low critical thinking skills, there is a comparison of learning outcomes between students who use problem-solving education models and conventional ones (Qcount 3.16 with = 0.05).

Abstract

The era of society 5.0 can be interpreted as a concept of a human-centered and technology-based society. The era of society 5.0 is a continuation of the industrial revolution 4.0’s era which further emphasizes the human side in solving social problems including education by integrating virtual and reality. This study aims to analyze the profile of teachers in the era of society 5.0 by using data sources or references in the form of books, journals, and others. Teachers as an activator in education in this era must have adequate competence. They must be proficient in providing subject matter and able to move students to think critically and creatively. In addition to curriculum preparation and adequate facilities for society 5.0 era education, teachers are expected to be able to ensure the curriculum runs optimally, therefore, teachers must have several main and supporting competencies such as educational competence, competence in strategic future and counselor competence. Teachers also need to have a technology-friendly attitude, collaborative, creative and risk-taking, have a good sense of humor, and teach thoroughly.

Abstract

This study is a classroom action research. The subjects of this study were 42 students of class VII-A in the even semester of SMP Negeri 12 Denpasar in the 2019/2020 school year. The object of research is the activity and mathematics learning outcomes. Student activity data were collected using observation instruments and mathematics learning outcomes were collected using tests. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis method. This action research is said to be successful if the students' learning activities are at least in the active category, the average score of mathematics learning outcomes is at least 75, and classical learning completeness is at least 85%. The results showed that there was an increase in the learning activities of students from being quite active in cycle I to being active in cycle II. Meanwhile, the average value of mathematics learning outcomes from 73.66 in the first cycle increased to 80.04 in the second cycle, and there was an increase in students' learning outcomes from 61.90% in the first cycle to 88.09% in the second cycle. Conclusions, the application of the problem based learning model based on ethnomatematics is able to increase the activity and mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

The government's policy to develop a Pancasila student profile for students is the focus of developing the quality of education in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the ability of special school teachers to develop learning assessments based on local wisdom, as one of the supporters of developing Pancasila student profiles for students with special needs. The research population is teachers of public and private special schools in the province of Bali. The research method uses a mixed methods approach. Qualitative data were collected using observation sheets, document studies, and interviews. Qualitative research informants were determined by purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, quantitative data was collected using a questionnaire instrument which was circulated online. Sample selection using random sampling technique. The number of special school teachers who responded was 49 people. The research data were analyzed using mixed methods. The results showed that quantitatively: (a) the responsibility of extraordinary school teachers to carry out tasks (X1) with an average score of 59.63 (Good), (b) extraordinary school teachers' understanding of the concept of learning evaluation (X2) with an average score -average 75.53 (Enough), (c) extraordinary school teacher's understanding of local wisdom (X3) with an average score of 71.27 (Good), and (d) extraordinary school teacher's ability to develop learning instruments based on local wisdom with an average score of 56.31 (Enough). In conclusion, special school teachers in Bali Province need to be motivated and facilitated to improve their ability to develop learning assessments based on local wisdom.

Abstract

Matematika merupakan suatu mata pelajaran yang diharapkan mampu mempunyai kegunaan dalam kehidupan sehari‐hari bagi yang mempelajarinya, khususnya bagi siswa SMK, sehingga dapat mengimplementasikan matematika sesuai vokasinya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan karakteristik, kualitas, persepsi siswa SMK, dan persepsi guru SMK terhadap bahan ajar matematika berbasis vokasi menggunakan linkfly pada materi program linear siswa kelas X SMK. Prosedur penelitian dan pengembangan ini menggunakan adaptasi model pengembangan Plomp yang meliputi tiga tahapan, yaitu fase penelitian awal, fase pengembangan, dan fase penilaian. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah validator ahli, guru matematika, dan siswa SMK Negeri 5 Denpasar. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket sesuai dengan uji validasi, uji kepraktisan, dan test untuk uji keefektivitas bahan ajar. Hasil uji validitas dinyatakan “valid”, dengan nilai validitas pada aspek materi 1 dan validitas pada aspek media 0,83. Hasil uji kepraktisan pada siswa diperoleh hasil sebesar 74,9 dan pada guru sebesar 82,4 termasuk kategori “praktis”, dan hasil yang diperoleh siswa pada evaluasi memiliki rata-rata 86,5, dapat diinterpretasikan bahwa bahan ajar matematika berbasis vokasi menggunakan linkfly “efektif” untuk digunakan pada pembelajaran. Mathematics is a subject that is expected to be useful in everyday life for those who study it, especially for vocational students, so that they can implement mathematics according to their vocation. This study aims to describe the characteristics, qualities, perceptions of SMK students, and the perceptions of SMK teachers on vocational-based mathematics teaching materials using Linkfly on linear program material for class X SMK students. This research and development procedure uses an adaptation of the Plomp development model which includes three stages, namely the initial research phase, the development phase, and the assessment phase. Sources of data in this study were expert validators, mathematics teachers, and students of SMK Negeri 5 Denpasar. The data collection technique used a questionnaire in accordance with the validation test, practicality test, and a test to test the effectiveness of teaching materials. The results of the validity test were declared "valid", with the validity value in the material aspect 1 and the validity in the media aspect being 0.83. The results of the practicality test on students obtained results of 74.9 and for teachers of 82.4 including the "practical" category, and the results obtained by students in the evaluation had an average of 86.5, it can be interpreted that vocational-based mathematics teaching materials use linkfly " effective” for use in learning.
