Abstract

This study aims to describe the context of literary discourse in the short story Kuli Kontrak by Mochtar Lubis. This research study focuses on the context behind the short story Kuli Kontak by Mochtar Lubis. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. This research uses the literature study method, the source of the data for this research is the Kuli Kontak short story book, the data is obtained from the sentences contained in the short story. The results of this study found that there are linguistic contexts, situational contexts, and cultural contexts which are the building blocks of Mochtar Lubis' short stories.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the formal elements of extra-lingual and intra-lingual and power of language and the language politeness. This study uses the pragma-semantic theory. Source of data of this research are several private television programs (Indonesia Lawyer Club, Sentilan-Sentilun), Tempo Magazine (Catatan Pinggir ), and the caricature of  Sindo Newspaper. The data are in the form of speeches and sentences, which contain extra-lingual and intra-lingual elements. The data analysis is performed by inventorying, classifying, identifying, and interpreting the data, based on the Pragma-semantic theory. The results are (1) forms of extra-lingual and intra-lingual elements are able to bring the power of language as power of criticism, the power of information, the power of banter, power of commands, and allure, (2) forms of extra-lingual and intra-lingual elements are able to bring the values of language, such as pleasure values, the respect values, and the happiness values.

Abstract

Artikel studi kasus bahasa Jawa mengenai kearifan lokal sebagai konteks lokal menuju konteks global untuk menafsirkan makna pragmatik. Acuan teorinya adalah teori reflektif interpretatif untuk memaknai kata, istilah, ungkapan yang digunakan dalam bahasa Jawa. Sumber datanya berupa artikel jurnal tentang masalah kearifan lokal sebagai konteks lokal maupun konteks global. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan mereview artikel untuk mendapatkan data. Teknik analisis data dengan langkah (a) identifikasi data, (b) klasifikasi data, (c) interpretasi data, (d) penulisan artikel jurnal. Temuan hasil kajian adalah (1) kearifan lokal sebagai konteks lokal memiliki perbedaan. Kearifan lokal sebagai konteks lokal berada dalam lingkup intralinguistik, kearifan lokal sebagai konteks lokal berada dalam lingkup ekstralinguisti, (2) konteks global dalam berbahasa harus dimaknai sebagai konteks ekstralinguistik, (3) konteks glokalisasi merupakan pengintegrasian konteks lokal dan konteks global, dan (4) penafsiran makna pragmatik dalam studi kasus ini tidak dapat digeneralisasi, tetapi satu persatu ditafsirkan secara reflektif interpretatif agar pemaknaannya tidak menimbulkan kesalahpahaman.    vThe Javanese people still maintain local wisdom, such as the phrase “pandemic” pageblugwhich needs to be interpreted from the aspect of pragmatic meaning. This Javanese casestudy refers to the interpretive reflective theory to interpret the words, terms, expressionsused in Javanese. The data source is in the form of journal articles on issues of local wisdomas a local context as well as a global context. Data collection techniques by reviewing articlesto get data. Data analysis techniques include (a) data identification, (b) data classification,(c) data interpretation, (d) journal article writing. The findings of the study are (1) localwisdom as a local context has differences. Local wisdom is in the cultural sphere, while thelocal context is the context closest to the communication environment. Thus, local wisdom asa local context is in the extralinguistic scope because as a context it will also interpret pragmaticmeanings (2) the global context in language must be interpreted as an extralinguistic context,because the global context is always outside the conversation, (3) the glocalization context isan integration of context local and global context so that every speech must always beinterpreted using a local context as well as a global context, and (4) the interpretation ofpragmatic meanings in this case study cannot be generalized, but one by one interpreted in areflective, interpretive way so that the meaning does not cause misunderstanding.
