Abstract

In the chatter, machining operations are undesirable because of the phenomena that affect product results, machining accuracy, tool life, and high operating value. Chatter is a vibration phenomenon that occurs in cutting tools due to the self-excitation of the influence of cutting parameters during the operation process of the machine. Types of chatter in machinery are regenerative and resonant. Because the pitch angles of variable helix tools vary, the helix angles of variable tools produce different tooth passing frequencies on each tool eye next to each other and can be used to prevent and control resonance. This study aimed to compare chatter control from the variable helix and regular-angle tools in the aluminum end milling process. The method is carried out through the end milling process experiment to determine the chatter control of the variable helix and regular-angle tools through the stability loop diagram. The results from this study were obtained by comparing control chatters in the milling process through controlling variable and standard helix angles as a guideline to produce the best surface roughness in the end milling process made from aluminum. The comparison of estimated control charts from variable helix tools is more comprehensive than regular helix tools.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Installation of floor plate for ordinary terraced house with a conventional method or using Hebel relatively heavy and expensive. In addition, the size of a large hebel an obstacle to mobilization to the work site. This study aims to create a floor plate made of segments. To make it easier to carry, the segment of the floor plate is made using molds that can be assembled in the field to one lane and given reinforcement. Segment of the floor plate is made using lightweight concrete using a pumice stone with dimensions of 25x12x20 cm. The method used is a method in laboratory experiments conducted with a mix design that refers to ACI. Mixture contained in lightweight concrete is Sand: Cement: Pumice: superplasticizer. Sika ViscoCrete 1003 is used to reduce the water content of the concrete so that the weight becomes light. From the test results obtained by the heavy plate segment average floor of 7.47 kg with a compressive strength of 20.61 MPa, a tensile strength divided by 1.2 MPa, flexural strength of 1.63 MPa, and the resulting deflection with maximum compressive strength is 4.01 mm. Keywords : floor plate, segment, lightweight concrete ABSTRAK Pemasangan plat lantai untuk rumah bertingkat biasa dengan metode konvensional ataupun menggunakan hebel yang relative berat dan mahal. Abstract

Vibration in milling processes adversely affects product quality, machining precision, tool lifespan, and operating costs. A common vibration type, chatter, arises from self-excitation influenced by cutting parameters. Chatter can be classified into regenerative and resonant types. To mitigate resonance, cutting tools with variable helix angles are employed, as their varying pitch angles generate distinct tooth-passing frequencies for each blade. This study investigates the impact of helix angles on cutting parameters during end milling and their effects on vibration amplitude and surface roughness of AISI 304 stainless steel. Experimental end milling trials were conducted with different helix angle tools and cutting parameter variations. The findings reveal that optimizing the helix angle significantly reduces vibration amplitude and enhances surface finish. Controlling helix angle proves crucial for achieving superior surface quality and stable operation in end milling processes of stainless steel materials.

Abstract

Abstract

Many kinds of non-lethal ammunitions are developed in the last fourty years. The 40x46 mm Non-lethal ammunition is one of several ammunitions ready to be used in riot control. This type of ammunition can be used to subdue the target by implementing impact force. When developing non-lethal ammunition, it should be considered that the ammunition has adequate projectile velocity to ensure that the impact will produce sufficient pain to immobilize the target without risk of permanent injury. Projectile velocity is affected by the propellant weight and projectile weight. Therefore, a study to understand the effect of propellant charge weight on projectile velocity was done experimentally. This experiment was done by preparing several variations of propellant charge weight which were 0.150 gram, 0.200 gram, 0.250 gram, 0.300 gram and 0.350 gram. The desired output of this study is to obtain the correct amount of propellant charge weight to produce projectile velocity in accordance with the 40x46 mm Non-Lethal ammunition specification. The conclusion of this study is that Variation C ammunition with propellant charge weight of 0.250 gram is the closest variation to achieve nominal projectile velocity of 75 m/s. The exact range of propellant charge weight that can be used as production guidelines in order to comply with the product specification is between 0,228-0,280 grams APS350.

Abstract

A refrigeration trainer is a working model of an existing system intended to support student learning in the characterization of refrigeration systems, especially their temperature profile. There are many ways to monitor temperature in refrigeration trainers, such as by implementing a temperature monitoring and control system based on Raspberry Pi 3 B +. This project uses the DS18B20 sensor and Raspberry Pi 3 B+ microprocessor. This system has various features such as temperature monitoring, on/off control for fans and compressors, online and offline data storage, and remote control. After 4 hours of testing, the prototype looked stable without any sudden increase or decrease in temperature values for all measurement point parameters. In addition, the error percentage value which is less than 10% shows that the DS18B20 temperature sensor used provides the best accuracy value and is considered adequate for this prototype.

Abstract

The use of alternative materials in concrete mixtures is an important effort to improve concrete performance while reducing dependence on cement. This study aims to investigate the effect of adding Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) as a partial substitute for cement on the properties of concrete, both in fresh and hardened conditions, using a constant dosage of type F superplasticizer at 1% of the cement weight. The GGBFS replacement levels used in this study were 0%, 20%, 30%, and 40%. The tests conducted included slump, unit weight, initial setting time, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, and modulus of elasticity. The results showed that the use of GGBFS significantly affected compressive strength and splitting tensile strength, with optimum results achieved at the 20% replacement level. In contrast, other properties such as flexural strength and unit weight were not significantly influenced. Therefore, GGBFS can be considered an effective supplementary material in concrete mixtures when used at an appropriate dosage.
