Abstract

This paper aims to identify the extent of the use of the WhatsApp application and the problems that accompany it when it is used in learning Arabic for students of Madrasah Ibtida'iyah in Bima City. With a qualitative approach and using research subjects from parents and students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Bima City during the covid-19 pandemic. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. After going through the analysis process, it was found that the use of the WhatsApp application in learning Arabic at the Madrasah Ibtida'iyah level focuses more on mufradat and tarkib aspects and is more relevant for increasing maharah qira'ah and kitabah. In addition, there are problems of saturation, validity of assessments, integrity dilemmas, and technical constraints such as device specifications, finances, and inadequate assistance by teachers and parents.

Abstract

The Character of education needs to be instilled in students from an early age so it needs to be integrated in learning through the teaching materials used. This is intended to change the mindset towards learning that only dwells on the cognitive domain so that it touches more on a more fundamental aspect, namely the character of students. This paper aims to identify the extent to which character education is implemented in Arabic language textbooks at Madrasah Ibtida'iyah. With a qualitative approach to the type of library research, the data were collected through documentation techniques. The main data source of this research is the Arabic language textbook for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah curriculum 2013 based on KMA No. 183 of 2019. From the analysis of the existing findings, it was found that the content of character education has been gradually integrated into the textbooks through systematic theme preparation, material selection, as well as additional content in books such as picture illustrations, and the introduction of language skills.

Abstract

This paper aims to elaborate on the existence and dynamics of learning Arabic at the basic education level and its relevance to the development of digital literacy. Using a literature study type research method and analytic descriptive techniques, this paper wants to describe research problems with the help of bibliographical data sourced from writings, papers, journals, and scientific articles as well as books that are relevant. Next, analyze the opportunities and challenges of developing digital literacy in learning Arabic at the basic education level. The findings obtained are that opportunities that can be targeted include wider access to language learning resources, interactive and interesting learning experiences, availability of global connectivity and language exchange, availability of digital applications for language practice, and providing an effective evaluation and feedback system. While the challenges faced are uneven access to technology, uneven technical competence of users, language barriers, limited range of focus and attention of students, digital security risks, psychological, social and health disorders.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the concept of Cognitive Load Theory developed by John Sweller and its implications for Arabic language learning at the elementary education level. Using a literature review approach and descriptive-analytical techniques, this study provides an in-depth analysis of relevant literature. The findings reveal that Cognitive Load Theory highlights the limitations of working memory in processing information, which includes intrinsic, extrinsic, and germane cognitive loads. In Arabic language learning, this theory guides educators to reduce intrinsic cognitive load through simplifying teaching materials and introducing concepts gradually. Additionally, extrinsic cognitive load can be minimized by improving the quality of media, teaching materials, and relevant interactive teaching strategies. Meanwhile, germane cognitive load can be optimized through learning activities that reinforce students' cognitive schemas, such as contextual practice, visualization, and consistent repetition. Implementing this theory makes learning more effective and efficient, helping students gradually overcome the complexities of the Arabic language. Consequently, students' learning motivation is maintained, and the learning process becomes more meaningful. These findings are relevant for developing learning strategies oriented toward the cognitive needs of students at the elementary education level.
