Abstract

Students have to learn the four basic language skill, they are listening, reading, writing, speaking. One of the most important skill that is Writing. It can make students to share the ideas into written form in the text or paragraph with the right order of generic structure. The purpose of this research was to find out the improving of students writing skill  of descriptive text using clustering technique at seventh grade students of SMPN 11 Cimahi in the Academic Year of 2018 – 2019. This research used Classroom Action Research. The research was carried out in  two cycles and each cycle consisted of four steps, they are Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection. Most of the students gradually gained good scores at the end of each  cycles. The students responses showed that they interested to learn writing.The score of Minimum Mastery Criterion of English lesson was 75. The Students mean score of pretest 45,7. The mean score in postest 1 was 53,7. The mean score of posttest 2 was 79,3. From this result, the researcher concludes that teaching descriptive text using clustering technique can improve their writing ability and the atmosphere of the class was more alive. Keywords:  CAR, Writing Skill

Abstract

English is a subject in Indonesian school that learned from junior high school until the universities. Therefore one of importance basic aspects and skills in learning English for students is to understand avariety of English vocabulary. In learning English, vocabulary plays an important role, it means vocabulary is the basic one to mastering all English Skill. This research intended to students at seventh grade of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) in Cimahi. And this study aims to determine the benefits of Color Coding technique in improving the ability of English vocabulary. Color Coding is a method that can be used in teaching vocabulary, one of the use of color is to identifying something, it can make the student easy in their learning vocabulary process. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The researcher employed qualitative research design and pre experimental pretest-posttest. Thedata were collected from the result of pretest and posttets. The result of the data showed: Mean of pretest was 63.00, mean of posttest was 82.00, The result also show the score of t-observed was higher than ttable (2.08 > 1.72). It means color coding is effective to improve students’ vocabulary ability.Keywords: Vocabulary, Color Coding Technique, CAR

Abstract

Pembentukan karakter seseorang tidak dapat dilakukan dengan mudah, hal tersebut memerlukan proses yang tidak sebentar. Sedangkan pada tahun 2020 sedang maraknya kasus COVID-19 tersebar, sehingga membuat pembelajaran harus dilakukan secara daring. Tentunya hal ini dapat menjadi peluang terhambatnya pembentukan karakter siswa, terlebih pada siswa Sekolah Dasar. Banyak orangtua yang mengeluhkan tentang anaknya yang hanya mendapatkan pembelajaran secara akademik saja, sedangkan orangtua terkadang tidak bisa selalu mendampinginya untuk menyelesaikan tugas-tugasnya serta dalam proses pembentukan karakter siswa SD ini masih ada kendala. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk membantu orangtua membentuk karakter anaknya yang masih di Sekolah Dasar. Pengabdian ini merupakan penyuluhan yang diadakan di sekolah dan nantinya akan disampaikan kemudian pada orangtua. Berdasarkan hasil interview, dapat disimpulkan bahwa orangtua siswa SD tersebut merasa terbantu dan anak-anak mereka jadi lebih terarah dalam pembentukan karakternya.Kata kunci: COVID-19, Pembentukan Karakter, Orangtua Siswa
