Abstract

The phenomenon of synonyms in the Qur'an has become a common topic of discussion. In this study, we examine the synonymy of the lafadz sanah and 'am which both mean the year. The data used is a verse of the Qur'an which contains lafadz sanah and 'am. The aim is to find out the meaning of lafadz sanah and 'am in the Qur'an and the relationship between the meanings of lafadz sanah and 'am through semantic analysis. The research methodology used in this research is library research with a qualitative approach. As for the results of the study, it was found that lafadz sanah was used to indicate a bad year/woeful, sad, lousy, sick and tired. While in lafadz 'am it is used to indicate the conditions of a happy, fertile and prosperous year. Then lafadz sanah and 'am are also analyzed based on semantic meaning according to Abdul Chaer who divides the types of meaning into 12, namely lexical meaning, grammatical meaning, contextual meaning, referential and non-referential meaning, denotative meaning, connotative meaning, conceptual meaning, associative meaning, word meaning. , the meaning of terms, the meaning of idioms, and the meaning of proverbs. As for the lafadz sanah and 'am in the Qur'an, several similar meanings are found and there are also some differences based on the semantic meaning according to Abdul Chaer.

Abstract

This research examines the perception of roughness in the speaking style of the Makassar community through a sociolinguistic approach. The distinctive speaking style of the Makassar community, characterized by high intonation, assertive tone, and the use of address terms such as "ji" and "ko," is often perceived differently by people from outside the region. Using a qualitative method with an online survey of 15 respondents from various regions in Indonesia, this research reveals that perceptions of roughness are more influenced by intonation and tone of voice rather than word choice. The findings indicate that cultural background, interaction experience, and communication context play significant roles in shaping one's perception of the Makassar community's speaking style. Respondents from regions with similar linguistic characteristics or those who have long interacted with the Makassar community tend not to view this speaking style as a form of roughness, but rather as an expression of cultural identity. The research results also reveal generational variations, where younger generations are perceived as using a "rougher" speaking style compared to older generations. The Makassar community itself views their speaking style as part of their cultural identity, not a form of roughness, and shows resistance to negative stereotypes. This research contributes to the development of sociolinguistic theory concerning the relationship between language, identity, and linguistic stereotypes, as well as provides practical implications for language education and intercultural communication in Indonesia's multicultural context. These findings emphasize the importance of a cultural relativism approach in understanding language variation, where the assessment of a linguistic practice must consider the norms and values prevailing in the community.

Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education requires a structured training program so that prospective teacher students are able to utilize the technology optimally. This activity aims to hold a workshop on the use of AI NotebookLM, organized by Smart Edu Vision in collaboration with the Arabic Language Education Study Program at UNM on March 5, 2026. The results of the PkM activity showed a success rate of 85%, where 72.7% of participants achieved an A grade and 27.3% a B grade. A comparative analysis of pre- and post-workshop competency achievements showed a significant increase in all indicators, especially NotebookLM mastery (from a score of 1.8 to 4.5 on a scale of 5). This activity proves that the experiential learning approach based on direct demonstrations is effective in increasing AI literacy among prospective Arabic language teacher students.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan ketepatan pelafalan makharijul huruf mahasiswa Pendidikan Bahasa Arab melalui pendampingan fonetik bahasa Arab. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendampingan edukatif berbasis praktik dengan pendekatan fonetik artikulatoris. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam 4 kali pertemuan dengan durasi 90 menit setiap pertemuan, yang meliputi tahap diagnostik, penyampaian materi fonetik, praktik pelafalan, serta evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan pelafalan mahasiswa setelah pendampingan. Secara kuantitatif, rata-rata ketepatan pelafalan mahasiswa meningkat dari 56% pada tahap pre-test menjadi 78% pada tahap post-test, dengan peningkatan sebesar 22%. Peningkatan juga terjadi pada kemampuan membedakan huruf dengan kemiripan makhraj serta kesadaran terhadap posisi alat ucap. Selain itu, mahasiswa menunjukkan peningkatan kepercayaan diri dan partisipasi dalam praktik pelafalan. Dengan demikian, pendampingan fonetik bahasa Arab berbasis praktik terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan ketepatan pelafalan makharijul huruf serta kesadaran artikulatoris mahasiswa. Kegiatan ini dapat menjadi alternatif model pembelajaran yang aplikatif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran fonetik bahasa Arab di perguruan tinggi.
