Abstract

Self-management is often used to reduce stress, but application to students who experience stress during the pandemic in dealing with changes in the learning system from face-to-face to online has not been carried out. The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of self-management on reducing stress in online learning during the Covid 19 Pandemic Era for Nursing Students. This research design uses cross sectional. The population in this study were all students of D3 Nursing Study Program in Semester 5. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The number of samples used was 60 students. The independent variable is self-management, the dependent variable is stress. This data collection was done by using a questionnaire. Stress levels were measured using the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42 (DASS 42). The Psychometric Properties of the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 42 (DASS 42) consists of 42 statement items where a score of 0-7 is normal, a score of 15-18 is mild, a score of 19-25 is moderate, a score of 26-33 is severe, a score of 34 is very severe. Data analysis was carried out using the Wilcoxon test with a significance value of = 0.05. The results of the Wilcoxon Sign Rank test = 0.001 (0.001 < 0.05) showed that there was an effect of self-management on reducing stress in nursing students. In general, this study proves that self-management is effective in reducing stress. The use of self-management should be applied to other respondents who experience stress

Abstract

Stroke is a disease that can cause weakness on one side of the body for sufferers, due to damage to the nervous system in the brain. One of the therapies to increase limb muscle strength in stroke patients is bobath therapy. This study aims to analyze the effect of bobath therapy on limb muscle strength in post-stroke infarction patients at RSI Jemursari Surabaya. The research design used a pre-experimental type with a one-group pre-post test design with a sample of 102 post-stroke infarction patient respondents using a non-probability sampling method with a purposive sampling technique. The independent variable in this study was bobath therapy, while the dependent variable was the muscle strength of the extremities of post-infarction stroke patients. The research instrument used an observation sheet containing a strength scale measuring instrument, namely the Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) score on measuring muscle strength with a score of 0-5. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the study with the analysis of the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test were obtained with a significance value of α = 0.05, ρ = 0.000, which means ρ <α, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means that there is an effect of bobath therapy on limb muscle strength in postoperative patients. stroke infarction at RSI Jemursari Surabaya.Bobath therapy which was carried out 6 times within one month, and each movement was carried out for 3-5 minutes proved to be effective in increasing limb muscle strength in post-stroke infarction patients. It is hoped that bobath therapy can be applied by post-infarction stroke patients as a therapy to help increase limb muscle strength in accordance with Standard Operational Procedures.

Abstract

Background: Nursing students experience high stress levels because of the high demands, expectations and activities during their study. Therefore some students struggle to adapt to their college life, eventually resorting to dangerous behaviors such as self-harm, which they perceive as a coping mechanism to relieve stress. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the relationship between stress levels and self-harm incidents among active students at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya. Methods: This research design uses descriptive correlational with cross-sectional approach.  This study involved 293 students from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya, with purposive sampling technique. The dependent variable in this study is self-harm behavior, while the independent variable is the level of stress. The instrument tools used are the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) questionnaire and DSHI (Deliberate Self Harm Inventory). Results: A total of 293 students were sampled in this study. The majority of stress levels were experienced by women, with 135 respondents experiencing moderate stress levels and 118 students having engaged in mild self-harm behavior. The results of the Spearman’s rank statistical test showed a significant correlation between stress levels and self-harm behavior (p-value = 0.004), indicating that higher levels of perceived stress are associated with a greater tendency toward self-harm Conclusion: This study concluded that the majority of students were under stress, with most perceiving themselves to be experiencing moderate stress. There is an urgent need to identify the underlying causes and implement effective management and preventive measures to mitigate the long-term negative effects of stress on students’ careers and well-being.
