Abstract

This study aims to obtain a valid, reliable, and quality cognitive ability instrument in the material of the Solar System Class VII SMPN 1 Solok Selatan. This research is descriptive (Descriptive Research) quantitative approach. The population of this study was class VIII and IX at SMP Negeri 1 Solok Selatan which were registered in the 2020/2021 school year. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. The research data used is in the form of primary data, namely data that is collected directly from the sample studied using the instrument. The research data were analyzed by using expert validity analysis, reliability analysis, distinguishing power analysis and problem difficulty level analysis. The results of validity by expert validators found that 50 items in the form of multiple choice were categorized as valid. Based on the Reliability Analysis, it was found that the questions were reliable. The question instrument with the analysis of the distinguishing power of the questions obtained the results of 16 items with the valid and suitable category for use. Based on the Problem Difficulty Level analysis, the results were obtained with moderate criteria, so that a valid, reliable and quality instrument was obtained to measure the cognitive abilities of students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of the instrument for measuring the scientific argumentation abilities of junior high school students on global warming material. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method. While the data in this study were collected by online data collection methods using the whattaps application. The results obtained from this study are information in the form of question validity, question reliability, difference power, and difficulty level on the questions. Based on the results of the analysis carried out, for the validity of the questions, it was concluded that from the 40 essay questions to be tested were declared valid by three expert validators. As for reliability, the results obtained that the questions to be tested are reliable by obtaining a reliability value of r11 = 0.81 with very high criteria, it can be concluded that the questions to be tested are reliable to be used as a data collection tool. Based on the difference power, there are 2 questions with very good difference power, 9 questions with good difference power, 6 questions with sufficient difference power, 7 questions with bad difference power and 16 questions with very bad difference power. While the results of the analysis of the level of difficulty, there were 9 questions with an easy level of difficulty and 31 questions with a moderate difficulty level.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the still low learning outcomes of students, especially in cognitive abillities. Discovery Learning model is one of the learning model that can be used to increase students cognitif ability. The aim of this research is to analyze the external factors of Discovery Learning models that effect the student cognitive abilities, from several research articles. This is an expost facto research with descriptive qualitative approach and documentation as the teachnique to collect the data. The sample used in this research were articles (at least 3) relating to the used of the Discovery Learning model on students' cognitive abilities with a minimum journal level of Q3. The data analysis technique consists of several steps, there were, data reduction, data display, and verification. The result shows there were several external factors that affect the students' cognitive abilities in the application of the Discovery Learning learning model, such as the learning environment, learning media, and providing stimulus.

Abstract

On teaching and learning process, educators are required to be able to create situations that allow students to be active and creative. One of the efforts to integrate science with ethnoscience in the form of teaching materials is one of the breakthroughs in the development of teaching materials. The observation in SMPN 11 Padang shows that still used teaching materials in the form of LKPD which colorless and newspaper base paper. This made students' interest in learning are decline. Based on the observation result, the researcher wants to do research that the aim is to produce science teaching material integrated ethnoscience that valid and practical to use. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D). The research method used in the 3 stages of the 4-D (Four-D model), namely defines, design, and development. Teaching materials are valid when the eligibility criteria for content, language, presentation, and graphics are reached by the validator's expert. Teaching materials are practical when the criteria for ease of use, time efficiency, and benefits have been assessed by teachers and students. The validity and practicality values obtained through instruments in the form of interview sheets, validity questionnaires, and practicality questionnaires. The results showed that the integrated ethnoscience science teaching materials can be used with valid and practical categories. © Department of Science Education, Universitas Negeri Padang Keywords: Science Teaching Materials, Webbed, Ethnoscience, 4-D Model.
