Abstract

ABSTRAK Sekolah swasta berbasis pesantren di daerah mempunyai permsalahan yang berkaitan dengan sumber daya manusia antara lain masalah geografis, keluar masuknya staf, tambahan tugas admistrasi dan minimnya fasilitas. Dalam banyak kasus permaslahan ini menghambat sekolah sekolah tersebut dapat berkompetisi dengan sekolah negeri dan sekolah yang berada di kota besar. Tulisan ini menjelaskan tentang praktek knowledge managemen yang dapat dilakukan oleh sekolah sekolah ini agar mampu bersaing di daerah. Fokus dari tulisan ini antara knowledge acquisition, knowledge retention dan knowledge sharing. Kata kuci:sekolah, pesantren,knowledge management ABSTRACT Teachers and principals of Islamic private schools in rural areas have challenges in terms of adjusting to live in geographically remote areas, teachers turnover, increased administrative responsibilities and lack of facilities. The problems have made the schools in  are left behind state schools and their counterparts in the cities. This paper attempts to uncover the knowledge management practice that can be implemented at Islamic private schools in rural areas  to encounter the aforementioned problem as it is believed to enable organization to competitive advantage. This mainly focuses on what leaders must do to apply knowledge acquisition, knowledge retention and knowledge sharing. With knowledge management the problems related to knowledge lost can also be solved. Keywords:school, pesantren,knowledge management

Abstract

Uswatun Qoyyimah University of Pesantren Tinggi Darul’Ulum Jombang Usqyim@yahoo.com  Abstract English is an important language to learn as it is widely used in science and technology. However, Indonesian educators found this language has not been mastered well although it is taught as the first foreign language at secondary schools. In spite of discussion on factors causing the unsuccessful teaching and learning process, the foremost factor affecting the student’s language competent is described in this article. It is argued that student’s motivation has positively instigated learning outcomes. Motivation among students is initiated by other factors, mainly teachers’ ability to organize the language classroom. Thus, this paper provides several ways the teachers should do to enhance their students’ competence like actively involve students in the learning and give feedback to students learning progress. key words: receptive skills, productive skills, Authentic Material    Abstrak Bahasa Inggris adalah bahasa yang penting untuk dpelajari karena sangat banyak digunakan dalam  ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi. Namun, masih banyak pendidik bahasa di Indonesia yang belum menguasai bahasa Inggris dengan baik meskipun diajarkan sebagai bahasa asing pertama di sekolah menengah. Diantara banyaknya diskusi tentang faktor yang menyebabkan pengajaran dan proses belajar tidak berhasil, faktor terpenting yang mempengaruhi kompetensi bahasa seorang siswa akan dijelaskan dalam artikel ini. Dengan kata lain, motivasi siswa secara positif sangat berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Motivasi siswa disebabkan oleh banyak faktor, yang paling utama adalah kemampuan guru untuk mengatur kelas. Dengan demikian, makalah ini memberikan beberapa cara para guru harus dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi siswa mereka seperti secara aktif melibatkan siswa dalam belajar dan memberikan umpan balik kepada siswa saat proses belajar berlangsung. kata kunci: keterampilan reseptif, kemampuan produktif, bahan otentik

Abstract

Uswatun Qoyyimah University of Pesantren Tinggi Darul Ulum Jombang Usqyim@yahoo.com  Abstract This article discusses about the implementation of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. Some believe CLT is a suitable approach to improve student’s communication. However, this article argues that the approach is problematic for non-native English speaking teachers in EFL context. There are several factors causing Communicative Language Teaching less appropriate to implement in this situation. The problems include the facts that teachers are struggling to adapt with the English since this language is not their first or second language, and the concept of CLT remains broad, so that teachers need to have guideline for implementing it in the classroom practice. key word: communicative language teaching (CLT)   Abstrak Artikel ini membahas tentang pengajaran bahasa yang komunikatif (Communicative Language Teaching). Banyak pendapat menganggap pendekatan ini sebagai jawaban atas masalah yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan komunikasi pelajar. Bagaimanapun, pengajaran komunikatif bahasa merupakan masalah bagi guru mata kuliah speaking yang bukan berlatar belakang bahasa Inggris. Mereka  berpendapat bahwa konsep tidak bisa didapat serta tidak ada kejelasan bagaimana menjalankannya. Di samping itu tantangan untuk dihadapi  ketika  kemampuan bahasa yang dikuasai rendah. Artikel ini membahas faktor- faktor yang menyebabkan Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) sulit diaplikasikan. kata kunci: communicative language teaching (CLT)

Abstract

Abstrak Artikel ini menjelaskan dua perspektif yang berbeda dalam menanggapi perubahan dalam bahasa, dan memadukan dua perspektif tersebut dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris yang dilakukan dalam konteks bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing (EFL context). Pra-Neogrammarian dan Neo-grammarians yang masing masing menjelaskan bahwa perubahan pada bahasa dapat mengarah ke perusakan atau peningkatan eksistensi bahasa akan diuraikan dalam artikel ini. Selain itu artikel ini menjelaskan bahwa teori berasal dari kedua perspektif dapat diterapkan untuk menganalisa bahasa apapun. Jika terjadi kontak budaya antara dua bahasa, bahasa yang dominan akan cenderung menekan bahasa non-dominan. Oleh karena itu, selain fokus pada perubahan yang terjadi dalam bahasa Inggris dan efek perubahan dalam bahasa Inggris, artikel ini juga menjelaskan bahwa bahasa bahasa local juga mengalami perubahan sebagai akibat dari interaksi penggunanya dengan bahasa Inggris. Kemudian, artikel ini juga menawarkan tindakan yang harus dilakukan oleh guru dalam menyikapi berbagai akibat dari perubahan bahasa tersebut dan menguraikan dilemma yang dirasakan oleh guru atas pergesekan dua bahasa tersebut. Kata kunci: EFL konteks, variasi bahasa Inggris, Neogrmmrianns, Pre Neogramarian, perubahan bahasa, pengajaran bahasa. Abstracts This article describes different perspectives in response to language change, and aligns the perspectives of language change to English language pedagogy in non- English speaking contexts. The Pre-Neogrammarian and Neo-grammarian linguists that believe the change leads to respectively language decay or language existence will be outlined. This article suggests that the theories derived from both perspectives can be applied to any language. Once there is cultural contact between languages, the dominant language tends to suppress the non-dominant language. Hence, besides focusing on changes that happen in English and the effects of the changes into this language, this article also considers that other language

Abstract

The study of Total Quality Management (TQM) according to William Edward Deming's perspective is very important to carry out in order to find theoretical constructions for the application of Total Quality Management (TQM) in educational institutions. Implementation of Edward Deming's theory can be done by applying 14 points of management transformation. In an institution, especially education, planning is the main pioneer or spirit of the founding of an institution. This literature review of Edward Deming's planning model, apart from being widely used as references by institutions or companies in formulating programs, cannot be denied, also found several polemics that are important to study, starting from the Deming cycle, PDCA and PDSA. The purpose of this research is to find out William Edward Deming's planning model, especially in the field of education. This research uses a qualitative library research type approach. Data sources used as references in this research are books, websites, papers and scientific articles from various journals. The results of this research are that in general, William Edward Deming prioritizes anticipatory or preventive steps in quality improvement management. In line with that, it can be seen that Deming wants to convey that improving quality starts from the goal, making continuous improvements by focusing on education and training with the hope that activities run smoothly producing good quality.

Abstract

Pengkajian Total Quality Management (TQM) menurut perspektif William Edward Deming sangat penting untuk dilakukan guna menemukan konstruksi teoritis diterapkannya Total Quality Management (TQM) di lembaga pendidikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perencanaan model William Edward Deming, terutama dalam bidang pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis library research. Sumber data yang dijadikan acuan pada penelitian ini yaitu buku, website, makalah dan artikel ilmiah dari berbagai jurnal. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu secara umum, William Edward Deming mengedepankan langkah antisipasi atau pencegahan dalam manajemen perbaikan kualitas. Sejalan dengan itu, dapat dilihat bahwa Deming ingin menyampaikan bahwa peningkatan kualitas dimulai dari tujuan, melakukan perbaikan secara berkelanjutan dengan memfokuskan pada pendidikan dan latihan dengan harapan kegiatan berjalan dengan lancar menghasilkan kualitas yang baik.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI), particularly machine translation (MT), is transforming English language education, especially for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. While research has explored this shift, uncertainties remain about MT’s impact on language development in academic writing. This paper examines pedagogical practices in a teacher education program in Indonesia through the lens of Bernstein’s theory of knowledge structures. It draws on reflective research conducted by Author 1, using data generated from fieldnotes of EFL academic writing sessions in which nine pre-service teachers actively participated as learners. The analysis reveals that while MT supports various language tasks, its unregulated use may hinder students’ development of foundational skills such as sentence construction and paragraph organisation. Teacher intervention proved crucial in mitigating these challenges and fostering more effective academic writing. The findings emphasize the dual role of MT as both a support tool and a potential barrier, and offer empirical insights into how educators can balance AI use with essential language instruction. This study highlights practical implications for curriculum design and policy, reinforcing the indispensable role of teachers in integrating AI tools without compromising core language competencies.
